Just having a bit of dinner discussion with some friends about how long we have been in BTC and what we could prove or be willing to prove.

My oldest address is from mid 2010 but would not feel comfortable posting that address since it's still in use today. I do have an address from mid 2011 that had BTC0.0001 in and out of it so yeah that is a whatever kind of thing. That was actually what started the talk sine I noticed it received that tiny amount 6/20/2011 or 15 years ago today.

What about everyone else?

-Dave

Looking at the title and how long the years involved, I was thinking maybe I will see like 100 to 1000 Bitcoins, since by 2011 it's value was still very cheap, but only to be surprised and shocked when I saw 0.0001 BTC as the first Bitcoin transaction you ever made, of which it's kind of okay too to have had such experience when the world least thought it will skyrocket to be this valuable today. However, I will like to ask, how did you get that 0.0001 BTC back then in 2011? Did you earn it from a Bitcoin Faucet, mine it ? Moreover, happy 15years first Bitcoin transaction anniversary to you.

I was using BTC for a while at that point in 2011.

Someone on another forum was giving away those tiny amounts. At that point I had only been using the 1 address from before so I setup a new wallet because I for some reason at that time did not fully trust him at that point.

Why would you be giving away such a small amount? It was worth (at that time) nothing. So I setup that new address. Turned out that he figured that he would have had 1000s of takers so he was limiting what he had to give away. In reality I think about 4 of us responded.

We met up years later at a DefCon in Vegas. He was laughing that he was then so happy that not that many people took him up on it since he never spent any of it and now it was worth so much more.

-Dave

Sadly, when I was introduced to Bitcoin, then I was introduced to Coinbase's custodial wallet as well. To be honest, I was just a beginner and don't know how Bitcoin and non-custodial wallets work. So I can't remember the address since Coinbase suspended the wallet long ago but allowed withdrawal of all the funds there.

Then I moved to a blockchain wallet but lately can't even remember the password since I haven't used it for a long time. So it's hard for me to find an old Bitcoin wallet and sign a message from there. I can't recall the exact year when I was introduced, but probably 2016 or 2017.

I think you are very old in this system, if you had recieved 1 Bitcoin or more instead of this  BTC0.0001, you would have gotten a reasonable figure, but I guess that time this amount was just a dust. You never thought that it will amount to anything in that wallet. As for me I had my first Bitcoin wallet around 2020 which is about 6 years ago. I never started Bitcoin early and I didn't have any Bitcoin inside. And the worst is that I even Lost access to it. Not until I had another one. I will not disclose the amount I have inside for security reasons.

It just occurred to me that the 12th birthday of the 1st token I ever created is 2 days from now. I had owned Bitcoin before then, but only for a few months.

My first purchases were made in Feb 2014, right as MtGoX was collapsing, but I had no idea about any of that, or how it could affect the price of Bitcoin. It was a real bummer to watch the price do nothing but go down for over a year, that's why I got into altcoins probably, lol.

Profound words of wisdom from a true Hero Member.

I think its time for an overhaul of the entire ranking system.
