I see this as a normal argument between fans which occuring every tournament and season. We have seen this in viewing centers regularly so it is not new for me. And these are the kind of argument they do that leading to fight and killing happened. And the best way to avoid such discussion is to stay quiet/mute and left. Fan cannot predict the performance of a player because he is not the same at all time and comparing two players always bring such argument. Silent is the best answer.

The Portugal fans has always been like this if I remember correctly. Even during the last world cup outting, they rained on Ronaldo like he's the only capable player in the pitch. Perhaps this is his last world cup appearance, am sure they would find someone else to put the blame on.
Messi and Ronaldo are past their prime and even in their prime we see how difficult it was for both players to perform against countries that are also hungry to win the cup.
What matters is team work and so far the Argentine side has that in excess supply as compared to the Portuguese side where everyone seems to want to ignore Ronaldo and play individually just to shine as the best on pitch.

People must talk about things in other to criticize the other people in what they are doing.. This is also another thing that made me not to have a favorite footballer because when you start speaking about the player you are supporting then others quickly attack you. As gambler who has a favorite player you should hide whatever feeling or talks you know about the person in other not to drag public attention to yourself or for someone not to start attacking each others.

Actually, I personally never defend anyone or talk down to any other player. But as a football lover, when I see a person in front of me making negative comments about a player, I try to counter it, but this does not mean that we have to counter it in a bad way or through abuse, it can also be answered through logic. But in some cases, I think it's a fun way to have a debate with each other about players. We do this a lot among our friends. But obviously there should be a limitation because in case of the toxicity it can be also a danger situation.

And it's not just a matter of human nature, but the comments you share with us come from a social network famous for monetising people's feelings of hate, whether it's in politics, sports, or any other excuse.

These days, it's even hard to actually differentiate between legit comments on social media from the paid PR campaigns that are often run against or for some of the players. The profiles they use are almost real, and you can't spot the difference unless you visit the profile and check the entire history. Our opinion is being manipulated through these PR campaigns and they know well how to make someone think in a particular manner.

Personally, I haven't used that social network for a long time, my time is too valuable to waste reading trolls, and I do not consider that I extract anything of value from the information that is shared there. When I used it to keep up to date with the latest crypto related news it was still a place where you could have fun and learn, but all that is over, especially since who we all know bought it.

Actually great that you are doing this. I have this weird habit of checking X every morning and then checking the trending section to see what's going on. I don't know if this is some kind of an addiction but I feel good when I open X and read the type of content I want to read.

For example, I know the right-wing accounts must be bashing the left-wing accounts and vice versa. I roughly know what I am going to see on X when I check but still I check every day almost.

Can't believe this is coming from some Ronaldo's fans, it's just so crazy to me. How can they blame everyone for his failure of scoring against Congo. Congo came out ready using a 5 man defense line and weren't ready to go down without a fight. It was a tough game for both teams and Congo did a great job defending. So I just can understand where the hate is coming from.

Maybe they were expecting Ronaldo to keep up with Messi's score line. Maybe that's why they were angry, cause I'm sure most don't care if Portugal dropped points, they just want Ronaldo to score and lift the world cup.

For me, what these people did by going to the Instagram page of the wife of Bruno Fernandez to tell her to warn his husband due to the outcome of the last game between Portugal and DR Congo kind of looks childish to me, because to be honestly speaking both guys did actually played an excellent game on the last match against DR. Congo, but it's just unfortunate that those guys were fully prepared, knowing the sqard they were going to meet and equalizing the game which ended goal goal by both teams.

I mean... There are very crazy people on this planet and football is a sort which raises much passion from people, making them to act in very extreme ways.
Remember that in the last world cup back in 2022 when the Argentina was back in Buenos Aires to celebrate with their fans, there were people who literally jumped off bridges in order to get on the same vehicle messi and other players were traveling in.

We are on the internet, and there are many crazy people on the Internet. And Instagram is specially infamous for allowing their users to partake in racist comments and insulting one another. There is nothing which could surprise me out of Instagram to be honest...

I would not even be surprised there was people who killed others because of football...

It's just another day like the norm where people prove to the world why they are people after all, humans will always be humans you know, there will always be those who blame others and never takes blame themselves, there are those who will always not feel appreciated enough and there will always be some are just straight up wicked out of the box, humans are mammals themselves and animals behaviours are expected, don't be surprised because I am not, I mean there is nothing that will surprise me in the world coming from a human beings.

We hear news everyday of how fans commit suicide or do all sort of crazy things because their team lost. This obsession that people are having for their icon player  is getting too much. And the bitter truth is that the players don't even know this people. People fight each other and keep malices over ronaldo, but Ronaldo himself doesn't even give a fuck whether person fights over him .

It is so annoying for person to be involving the wife of Bruno and Neves for something when they wasn't even the person that played in the field. Childish fans everywhere.

Ronaldo himself was obviously disappointed at the performance of the team against Dr Congo match for not being able to pick the 3 Point. His countenance showed it after the match but I don't understand the fans competition and trying to make things look as if it is the first time that a player is having a bad match or if it is only Ronaldo that has bad first match. I have seen different Facebook reels making mockery of his performance for not being able to score yet but it is normal. Things might change with their next match with Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

Its normally from fans respond nowadays when their favorite players get failure for scoring goals what happen with Cristiano Ronaldo, without defense Ronaldo I think Portugal team have many classic internal problem with several youth players not respect yet for him. Difference with Argentina teams many of them keep respect with Lionel Messi and never talking bad about him its motivate why Messi keep performing well with Argentina always get assists for scoring goals.

Absolutely right, its good for a fan to counter aby negative talks or comments about players, as it won't lead to any problems that will injure them or affect them badly, beside the players are also humans which are about to make mistakes, but talking ill of them to make them feel more bad and less of themselves its not advisable, its important to argue sometimes, as they can share ideas through calm arguments, but it doesn't have to be in a toxic way, as the outcome might be a good one but will lead them them to destruction, as it will spoil their minds and cause them more problems than what they never expected.

Sometimes rivalry leads to people speaking ill of a player, but that doesn't mean it's malicious or intended to harm them. No, it's a matter of comparison based on certain criteria that almost everyone sees. If you watch El Chiringuito, there are many discussions and debates, but everything is done with sound judgment and mutual respect, and that's how it should be. You can talk however you want, but there will always be arguments that someone else has regarding what they're defending.

What we can expect from them, they are idolizing/worshiping someone with no reason to do it and they will go crazy if their expectations are not met. We can't blame Ronaldo or anyone for this other than the people who is doing this. This just shows that how immature they all are... But soccer is used to be known for having violent fandom.

The conversation is a bit too funny and full of sentiments. I don't really know why fans are arguing on something that is not new necessary at all. I know that the expectations of gamblers that must have bet on the game is for Portugal to win so that they can cashout their money but its unfortunate for them to seeing how the match has been going.

Social media is full of such posts and not just soccer, for the same goes for almost every sport. Now there is an ongoing Women's cricket world cup as well and people are trolling them as well. The same goes for UFC, once people lose money on a fighter, they will either troll the fighter or blame the ref for early stoppage. These trolls are blaming everything but themselves for their losses.

There are some fans who genuinely show their feelings on social media but unfortunately, their count is very small, I feel. Most of the drama on social media is caused by people who bet on these games and then tilt afterwards.

I am not a fan of either player, and I think this hype about the two was done on purpose. Who is the real GOAT? Many fans will probably debate for a long time just trying to tell the records of both players, but I think whoever is behind this sport has manipulated it to make it this way.
Heck, even my kids are now fans of the other player, but still, I don't really care about it. Whenever they ask me the question, I stay silent.
Sure, some fans are crazy, and they are hardcore when it comes to their idol, but we should understand that the same goes for the other player or other teams. Some fans are crazy there, too.

Seeing that so many people are crazy about their idols, this is even quite normal for me. There are still many people out there who idolize someone so much that they are unable to think more rationally and accept the fact that their idol is actually underperforming. It's not just about Ronaldo, it's also the same with Messi. He clearly committed a foul and should have received a red card, but even his die-hard fans say it wasn't a foul and there's nothing to protest about it. So there's no need to be surprised by the responses from these fans.

Given that football fans are literally rioting, no matter if someone wins or loses, i don't understand why you would be surprised that they are abusive in social media as well.

It's a crazy sport culture that has gotten into my country as well. Not sure why as we don't have that kind of tradition, but i just saw police cars escorting fans marching and bashing things with flares. It wasn't joy of fans, but intimidating, like bunch of nazis chanting and menacing bystanders.

The Messi and Ronaldo fanatics will always find ways to draw comparison between the two players. The tournament has only just begun, and people are already picking on Ronaldo as if football isn’t a team sport. Football is supposed to be a game of love, but these fans are hitting and turning enemies with one another because of football, which they could just share a little argument and banter, then move on. But, but now they take shaming a player's wife to her real life, which is supposed to have nothing to do with football, which just shows their level of immaturity and how foolish they can be creating enemies for a game even if they won part of the winning can never get to them.

Well, I did my self a favour by skipping some part of the post. I have a lot to say, and at the same time, very little to say.
My twitter(X) feed has been completely filled with the Ronaldo saga and discussions about the Portuguese national team. What most people don't know is that this whole drama didn't just start recently. It has been on ground for many years, but this world cup was the perfect time for everything to unfold.

I'm not exactly sure of where to even start from, but let me try to summarise.
Well, with how the Argentines have carried Lionel messi over the years, a lot of people expected the same thing from the Portuguese national team. And in the Portuguese national team, the players aren't willing to do that because of certain behaviours/attitude that CR7 showed. Attitudes like not wanting to talk players when he fails to score, or prioritizing scoring and personal records, to winning a game. Not having a WC is also another thing, and with the recent performance from messi, are all part of the reasons why there was a division and outrage on the internet. I even saw a post of a die hard Manchester United/CR7 fan, daring Bruno Fernandes to show his EPL trophy

That's a clash of fans who don't respect boundaries. They're only telling what they want to say out of their frustration.

I wouldn't say that they're die hard fans but they're just the normal fans that are looking someone to blame for their disappointment.

Just ignore it if it's getting to your nerve and you find it toxic. There's already a lot of problems in the world and ourselves to put some energy into those.
