So much underlining for my liking making it unattractive your town crier.

Back to topic. Two things must be the drive for a man into whatsoever he wishes to venture into; burning desire (passion) and knowledge. Mining requires good technical Knowhow which if you must go in shouldn't just be about being able to afford the electricity to use in the mining of bitcoin. Bitcoin has made available various areas through which everyone can participate in it, and if you can't afford going into mining then you just have to fall back to its investment buying for a long accumulation period.

If we all take your advice and don't mine, definetely don't run a node, who will confirm your transactions, who will secure the network and more. Sustaining bitcoin doesn't stop at buying and holding. One must make extra steps to be part of the large bitcoin network.
It's not about not mining at all, it's about don't mine if the power you'll use to mine is from stealing. We're all free to mine but don't do it illegally.
Yes, I support this. But it is like an advice to a criminal. It usually falls on a deaf ear.

They are actually not going to stop using illegal or stolen electricity. If they steal for bitcoin mining, it means they are definitely going to steal for other reasons. So they are just criminals

These numbers could be exaggerated. Not that I am doubting the publication, but after I knew the dark side of publication and journalism, I became very skeptical about every information I get.

About electricity miners denting the reputation of bitcoin, that's not logical. The miners are the criminals who possibly steals power to do some other things aprt from bitcoin mining.
It might be exaggerated but it still all leads to one thing, and that's these miners have been illegally mining. We don't like that media but, the bad doing of the miners needs to be published and punished.

While they might be putting a stain to bitcoin reputation upon knowing it. But I don't think that it's as impactful as it can be when most people will look at their stealing of electricity.
Looking like they met their waterloo. How much profit did they actually generate from the illegal mining< will it be up to a million dollar they are alleged to have stolen?
How often do they find blocks? maybe a discussion for another day.

Honestly, there are different earning opportunities one can get from having knowledge of Bitcoin. You can be a long-term hodler, which is one of the most convenient ways of investing in Bitcoin.

You can also be a trader, a Bitcoin educator sharing Bitcoin educational content with people for a fee and on social media platforms. You can be a mentor, a miner, a blockchain developer, and many more. What is important is that you choose the one you can handle financially, emotionally, and intellectually, and in which you have the necessary expertise.

Governments are already linking Bitcoin to criminals. True Bitcoin users should not give them reasons to believe they are right. I believe in doing things the right way and not out of pressure or greed.

That said, don't mine if you don't have the ability (legally and morally to justify it). Running a full node isn't actually bad, but the average guy won't want to do it because it doesn't provide them with incentives.
Mining returns are still lucrative, but we can't surpass industrial/farm scale. In turn, the rewards might nơt be profitable for them, and it will become a lower-level opportunity, and so on.

Yes, illegal mining can tarnish Bitcoin reputation, this assumption comes from lay people who cannot differentiate "Bitcoin" from "illegal mining". However, I don't see it that way at all. Bitcoin is a protocol, it doesn't consume electricity illegally, it's the miners who steal it, but the stigma sticks to Bitcoin, just like the knife is blamed in a stabbing. When a bank is robbed, no one says the banknotes are bad, they immediately blame the robbers. When Bitcoin is mined illegally, people feel it gives Bitcoin a bad reputation, which I think is very unfair.

Bitcoin never encourages people to mine illegally, the protocol only directs anyone who wants to mine to prepare electricity and hardware. So, whether they want to be a legal miner or an illegal miner, depends on their choice.
Yes it is unfair. BTC never encourages people to mine illegally, it is greed that motivates people to mine BTC illegally without any permit. Now what differentiates this? How come people feel that it gives BTC a bad reputation and why do they go after BTC at all?

For example, in China they banned BTC and its mining. They knew the main reason for high energy consumption was BTC so they blamed it, but it never gave it a bad image, it is the psychology of people and how they perceive it.

We understand that humans have many traits and only certain individuals are greedy and then use any means to gain profit. This falls under evil practices or theft. No one is completely righteous and good there’s always a mix of bad and good. They don’t care about maintaining a good reputation what’s most important to them is making a profit. It’s like BTC, which always has both positive and negative news that will always exist. People who understand how BTC works will think clearly. They won’t immediately get a bad impression. They will definitely look for the truth. So don’t worry, BTC will always be strong if the community’s trust is strong.
