First off, this is as a result of we believing that gamble is easy. When you are gambling dopamine is taking over and controlling your feelings somewhat. Some people cannot handle it and just never stop gambling til they lose everything. This is a common behavior and this is has nothing to do with a lack of intelligence. It is more about how our brain react to loss, risks and the rewards that gambling give to us.

Think about this... losing hurts more than the pleasure that winning provides, correct !? That is why, when you lose, there is always this urge to make up for it. So, when you win the pleasure of victory is not the greater than pain of the loss, because you feel like you have merely "done your duty" by recovering what you lost. What is even worse is when you start thinking: "I've already lost so much, I ca not stop now".

At least you seem to have already processed it and reflected on it clearly. If you no longer intend to chase those losses, then that is already a major step forward. Do what I do: define a monthly or weekly budget, deposit only this amount and never make more deposits if you happen to lose everything at the first day. Maybe what you say is like “winning is addictive, losing is curious” psychologically this is what really happens in my opinion and I agree to say that all people have experienced it, so that's why it sometimes makes sense to say that gambling is a psychological game because indeed who plays it by not being able to control himself or his thoughts will end up sadly or precisely addicted. This does not happen to all gamblers. This happens to most addicted gamblers. Gambling is good for you if you can stop when you win or lose in gambling. You will not always win or lose but you should not be confident in every bet because if you get greedy after winning many small bets and then bet big, you may lose in that situation. I have faced many such betting situations. After getting multiple wins, a confidence is born in me and I increase the bet amount. Why people keep betting even when they know they are losing is just  that they refuse to accept defeat. To some gambling is like a battle between two people who are struggling to see who wins, they failed to realize that this type of game is far beyond 2 people trying to see who wins each other. Is there any difference from or between gambling to win and gambling to win back previous losses?

Even though our self awareness tells us that we should stop, but once that emotions would be kicking in and then your mind would be getting in line on what you do feel then you would definitely do it. This is where gamblers does have that different level when it comes to tolerance whether on emotions/mindset on where you would be neither be able to stop or would be continuing just because of these factors. We would really be only starting to make out those realizations at the time that you would be literally cant be able to play just because you dont have money to play already and thats a very common situation for most gamblers. This is why its important that you should really be having that control and moderation and of course you should be only using up on the amount that you can afford to lose so that you wont be ending up on having those regrets or become impulsive.
