There is nothing close to bitcoin in the crypto world and it’s always obvious when you’re coming to the crypto world, you will always encounter everyone saying bitcoin. That should always be the background of your investment before you can then move to finding some shits that you will find comfort with such shitcoin should be around the top ten altcoins so you don’t regret buying but only have more patience in holding them till they rally again. But however just out 90% in bitcoin and gamble with 10% on top ten altcoins but while you gamble if you still more increment in capital you can keep adding up your bitcoin because it’s so confident no one has ever regretted holding it for long term.

Likewise what other recommend is Bitcoin of course. The potential of the bitcoin already proved from the previous cycle now its all about your risk management when you are willing to buy its like a bulk buy or a partial buying like with the DCA strategy but the first question is are you ready with the mental and emotional stress could give with the market? Not all capable to hold their emotions when they have seen the market price or the market value of the bitcoin getting down.
Also considering the alts too basically when the price of the bitcoin goes up the alt follows so its your decision now.

Hey guys,
I'm fairly new to crypto and still learning the ropes. Just wanted to ask — if you had to recommend one coin that you believe everyone should hold long-term, what would it be and why?
For me, I'd love something with strong fundamentals, real utility, and staying power through the cycles. Not looking for moonshots or hype — just solid advice from experienced folks. What’s your top pick and the quick reasoning behind it? Appreciate any input! Thanks in advance

If you are looking for advice on holding just one coin for the long term, I would definitely say Bitcoin because it is decentralized and the strongest in this regard. Its supply is limited and it has no single owner or CEO. It is censorship-resistant by operating nodes. Also, being the world's largest Proof of Work network, Bitcoin's security is much higher than any other cryptocurrency. There are also numerous positive reasons to invest here if you are truly interested in investing in Bitcoin. Also, countless people have been using it to protect their wealth from inflation and currency depreciation.

Every beginner should start with Bitcoin. The cryptocurrency industry began with Bitcoin, the original coin. The industry owed everything to Satoshi Nakamoto and to his creation, Bitcoin.
Before you move to other coins or tokens, you have to first study Bitcoin and what it has attained so far. You will have missed the most important lesson on decentralisation and privacy if you did not study the reason Bitcoin was created.
As much as I love Bitcoin, I think its future upside is more limited than many people expect.

There's no doubt Bitcoin will remain the biggest cryptocurrency, but will it ever reach $1 million? Maybe, but I'm sceptical. Bitcoin has already achieved mainstream adoption, and while I think it can continue to grow steadily, the kind of explosive gains we saw in the past are much less likely. I hope I'm wrong because I own some Bitcoin myself, but I just don't see that kind of parabolic growth happening again.

"What altcoin should I hold?" is a difficult question, and it's not one I'd ever answer with a specific recommendation. Altcoins are extremely volatile and can be vulnerable to bugs, exploits, or project failures. If you decide to invest in any altcoin, make sure you do your own research first. Even then, stay alert to market conditions and be prepared to sell if the market is no longer supporting the price.

Just hodl Bitcoin and Ethereum, you really do not need any other shitcoin.
Just buy them DCA and stake them in a hardware wallet.
That's it.
Not bad advice, but I personally don't feel very good about holding Ethereum. I don't even have a good reason to say why I have this feeling, but I feel like holding a coin like BNB is better, simply because it's backed by the biggest exchange out there, Binance. It's possible that in coming years Binance will be overtaken by other exchanges and DEXs as well, but it will take a long time, and such things happen gradually, not suddenly.

For me, when holding anything, the utility and dependence matter the most. BTC obviously is the king, so holding it makes sense, and then altcoins, I prefer those with some real use case or a product that backs it.

Majority here will recommend Bitcoin, but since you posted this on Altcoin Section, there might be many recommendations that they will be throwing at you.

I normally say Bitcoin because... why not? I mean it's the most trusted cryptocurrency right now and at the top in terms of market cap. Now with regards to altcoin, I always recommend Ethereum first because it's the top altcoin right now in terms of market cap, it already has a huge community behind it, there are many supporters around it and aside from that, they're constantly making upgrades and develop their project even more.

Strong fundamentals? Check
Real Utility? Check
Stay in power through the cycle? Proven and tested.

Many can recommend the altcoin that they want to, but it's Ethereum for me.

From your newbie acknowledgment, you're welcome to the crypto space.
Just a quick one, what you've described as to your interest of the coin to hold is regarded to be BITCOIN. It's less volatile compared to the Altcoins and investing in the Alt market may require some dynamic knowledges in other to manage your investment risk while bitcoin may only require basic knowledge to understand it's a long term assets which you don't have to invest and expect to become quick rich.
Of course the Alt market is full of hypes as a marketing scheme just to lure investors in except for some few Altcoins like the Ethereum and Solana with good reputation but they're still usually following bitcoin trends so it's better you hold the one leading crypto being bitcoin than risking on those MemeCoins that has Unworthily flooded the crypto market.
Maybe you can diversify after you've stabilized and can navigate around the space with diligence researches you can do all by yourself to identify what's good for you.

If you're looking for one coin to hold through multiple market cycles, I'd still pick Bitcoin. Not because it's guaranteed to outperform every altcoin, but because it has the longest track record of surviving crashes, regulatory pressure, exchange failures, and countless narratives claiming something else would replace it.

I've watched plenty of projects with "strong fundamentals" fade away once the hype disappeared or the funding dried up. Bitcoin is different because its value doesn't depend on a company, a foundation, or constant upgrades to stay relevant. That doesn't mean it will always deliver the highest returns, but long-term investing is more about protecting capital than chasing the next 10x. Once you build a solid Bitcoin position, then it makes sense to take calculated risks elsewhere instead of making speculative bets your core holding.

While i join others to recommend Bitcoin as first coin you should stack in your wallet, there are many other cryptocurrencies out there, but it will be difficult to be specific when referring you to one.

What you need to do is study about cryptocurrencies, do your research concerning what you want based on the utility you mentioned, understand the risk before taking any buying action, many altcoins that are not top altcoins or Bitcoin has a tendency of falling without raising again, you don't want rubbish coins or tokens that will crash.
