Vanishing Posts from Newbies

You might have seen it too but I have been putting my finger on something odd of late. It appears as though any number of posts from the new members those with a low post count to their name are being made to vanish right after they put them in. I cant find them in the thread or under Recent Posts and you wont get so much as a word from the moderators about it. There is no warning no post deleted notice nothing at all. One second its there and then it has gone as if it was never written. For someone making an effort to be part of the community and put out a question or two that is disappointing. They have the newbie restrictions and waiting periods to contend with already to have their input just disappear without a peep is another matter entirely. Is this some sort of bug? A new policy to curb spam? Or are we just quietly culling posts with no transparency? I would appreciate it if the staff or mods could shed some light on the situation. A little openness goes a long way to keeping the forum in good shape.

If your post was deleted by moderators or by the author of a self-moderated thread, you’ll receive a notification about it. If your post was deleted as part of a deleted thread, you won’t receive any notification.

P.S. And yes, next time you have questions like this, it’s best to ask them from your main account. That way, it’ll be easier to get more specific answers to your questions. Specifically, the reasons why your post or posts were removed.

It is true that there's no much descriptions to deleted post, it could leave you guessing why your posts are disappearing. The most common reason is off topic or low effort posts.

There's no newbie restrictions and it's not an attack on you. It happens to every member of the forum, but it happens more to newbies because the moderators watch them the more. It could also be that someone is reporting your posts as spam.

Just try and stay on the topic and avoid engaging in threads you have a shallow understanding of.

When a newbie spams with endless low value posts they can be nuked.

Or if they participated in a thread that is not deserve to be here and a mod deletes it, then all the replies also will vanish with no notification or anything.

When newbies made shitposts, they did not contribute to forum community but created spam problems here. It's discouraged by forum admins, moderators and community, so shitposters must learn from it and improve their post quality. Otherwise, their accounts will be banned from temporarily to permanently.

There is no longer newbie jails.

The things on the forum which encourage spam are allowed mainly because it's part of the forum's mission to be as free as possible.

Limiting newbie participation is very harmful for a community. Newbie jail will never return: I consider the newbie-jail period to have been extremely damaging to the forum.

If they are posts were moved to trash can, the user will receive notifications from the forum.
If moderators did not moved those posts separately to trash can, but deleted a whole thread, the user will not receive notifications.

I hope that when you post such content to everyone in the future, you will post it from your main account. Everyone would have tried to find your deleted post, no matter why it was deleted. You mentioned the new person, their posts may have been included in it, so they were deleted without any notification

The fact that you use a new account to post this, makes me think you're not talking about genuine users. But feel free to prove me wrong!

Show me the deleted posts and I'll answer your question. It sounds like MindlessElectron's work, and it can make mistakes (but it's rare).

My bot hasn't nuked anyone since 2026-06-14, so doubt it was me, but hard to check if OP doesn't share what post was removed.

Got nuked for mentioning bitcoin.pl, which was a website that got spammed a lot last year, with links to malware. However, looking at their posts, it was too aggressive in this case.
I've removed bitcoin.pl from the list and I'll reach out to Cyrus to get that one reversed, sorry about that athanred. I've also updated my list to not nuke older texts.

However, that account got nuked after this topic was created (and thus isn't OP) and nobody else was nuked recently, except some spammers/scammers that keep coming back:

Not websites. Phrases used by spammers. This one was relevant a year ago, setup too broadly and not removed once it stopped. That is on me. For now, I've removed all older phrases and checked the ones left over.

Correct. I added the phrase to my bot, I made a conscious decision.

My bot only works on accounts with newbie status and chances of you mentioning a banned phrase is, normally, very low.

Admins and moderators can use filters to do automatic bans if necessary. Most of time it works well but sometimes it can make inaccurate bans but forum always allows users making their ban appeals.

The OP is banned. This topic is archived. The onion address is wordfiltered, and bypassing the wordfilter will get you banned.

That would make it easier for spammers to avoid the bot. But you can check [Active] Finding spam and scams by keyword to get an idea of what's used.

In past admins/moderators had to delete posts manually if I'm not wrong, but since the number of members on the forum are growing pretty fast that's why it's not possible by moderators to delete all posts manually.

Especially when there're people who create multiple newbie accounts to post spam then such a filter could be effective against those spammers. If something like this gets done manually then it would take a lot of time of moderators.

I want to know the members who get nuked by mistake, will their all posts get restored or only few posts will get restored?
