Bitcoin has a response to this. Unlike Ethereum or Solana, it may not pay dividends, but BlackRock has created a tool called BITA, which pays investors 15-20 percent annually. However, in the event of a sharp rise, it will only return 70 percent of the profit. This tool is called BITA.

Regarding your information about 18 percent annual interest in dollars, I've never heard of any bank or government providing investors with such figures. 4 percent at most. I'm not sure about the legality or stability of the interest rates you mentioned.
I guess it's better to just invest in Bitcoin for a length of time like 4 or 5 years, and then once you have made some considerable profit, you divide it by the total number of months your investment took. This way, you will have the result to compare to each month of income generated from another investment categories.

Probably profit from Bitcoin investment is going to be much superior to the profit made through another investments, with the plus of not having to give your money on someone else's hands meanwhile.

This is a question a friend asked me yesterday and I just say that Bitcoin is safer in my hardware wallet and I don't plan on making any interest or anything because if it's possible it will be me handling over my Bitcoin to a thirdpart company.

Or is there any way that this is possible?

BTC does not generate yield on its own. In order to do that you have to give up self custody, which means the coins won't be in your ownership anymore.

You have to either lock them on a third party platform where they could take them away and you can't do anything, or you have to convert them into another form where that form will be staked, like WBTC etc., which is pegged but not an advisable way of staking.

We have so many platforms giving fixed yields and making people a good amount, although 18% is very high. I am not sure if you can find any reliable one giving that high, but if you do, I would recommend you avoid it.

I would say you don't have to go for such platforms and methods to increase your earnings because I think its appreciation and being outside the system are what are going to pay you the yield.

Bitcoin is also risky one cannot give guarantee of a higher increase percentage rate of bitcoin, if your bank gives 18% in a year, bitcoin can surely give more than that mainly when we are in the season of bull run, the interest rate keeps going  upward often but that is not what bitcoin investment is all about, in other for you to have a good reward one have to invest in Bitcoin for over a period of one year,it's not a yearly investment, it takes about 4-10 years or more to invest in Bitcoin that is a long term reward, then you can proudly say that you are sure of a better reward or percentage .

Asking for a friend.

Is there any way to make dividends holding Bitcoin?
If someone has $100,000 in the bank or piggyvest in my country they can make up to 18% in a year.

Holding Bitcoin, how can someone make something similar?
The only way you can experience such interest by investing your Bitcoin is by storing it on a centralized crypto exchange that offers such investment plan, because the last time check, I could remember that Binance used to offer such yearly investment plan for Tether USDT, BNB, Ripple and some other altcoins. And the interest rate for Bitcoin was around 5% to 7% interest gain, whereas stable coins like USDT had around 10% to 13% per annual. So I will recommend you to check either Binance, Bybit and Bitget.

You want to stake bitcoin to earn reward without given your coin to anything centralized? Bitcoin works on PoW which makes it not possible. You will need to hand it over to a centralized platform like an exchange and the reward will not be up to 18% and it can be reduced at anytime.

Another way is the staking of altcoins like wBTC which its price is pegged to bitcoin price.
Remember bitcoin on is a volatile currency and as such nothing is fixed because of this volatility and I think bitcoin would and might even given more than 18% but the only problem is that it's not certain of the period but over years and bitcoin circle if all thing been the same, bitcoin has the possibility of even giving 100% of its initial capital.

I don't know if I explained this properly but let's say someone invest in bitcoin with $100,000 at the price of $59k and over the period of time bitcoin rises to a new All time high ATH, which is definitely over $120k that's already twice the bought price which is a 100% of the initial capital which no bank would give to even in 4 years

Just my thoughts

Honestly your opinion was totally off from the context of your friends question according to the thread title and the body of the thread based on the interest of your friend.
Your opinion was centered on the security aspect of your Bitcoins safety and not the investment aspects of having your funds there (Bitcoin) for a store of values where it earns you income which is of the interest of your friend.

Bitcoin is not guaranteed to give you such profits in the matter of one year as that of banks maybe, in fact, banks profits can be negotiated between the bank officials and the investors but in Bitcoin there is no authority or  right quarter to have such negotiations with.

You just have to hold your Bitcoin believing to sell it after a long term probably using the calendars of the four years events to do your analysis but that is if the market may continue to follow the historical performances.
Yet you can not be assured of how much interest you will make but there is possibilities that you can make over 100% if you strategically buys at the DIP of the bear run and sells in the bull run when price skyrockets to the moon.

Perhaps piggyvest would have been the best option since you're sure of making up to 18% in a year, because in bitcoin there's no guarantee of making up to 18% even though you invest for long term. you should know that bitcoin Investment is not a short term investment, I know you might be wondering why I'm saying this even when you Said a year but that is because one year is not Long enough to hold bitcoin, even though you're going to do that maybe due to your target but trust me the profit you would make in that one year can't be compared with the one you would have made if you had invest for one complete circle or more.

I mistakenly believed that the Naira had fallen 50% against Bitcoin over the past year, so I deleted my previous reply. It is actually the other way around. BTC is down even against a currency that had seen heavy devaluation in recent years. Whatever reforms your government has made, have worked to stabilize the Nigerian currency. I still wouldn’t trust them enough to keep my money in fiat, but it is understandable why retail users would have enough confidence. 18% annual returns would be attractive to anybody, especially in a bear market for Bitcoin.

In less than 15 years ago, naira was 150 to a US dollar. It went up to $1800 I think 2 years ago but now at $1390. They significantly manipulate the naira to stay at $1390 because there is inflation in the country, but they are not reducing the naira value. When Iran war started, fuel price increased, gas price doubled, prices of goods have also increased, but they are only making sure naira is not devalued during the inflation which I see to be very wrong even if they have enough foreign reserves.
