Option 1 is healthier, but I think the real problem is information asymmetry, not mindset.

People who view gambling as a means of making profits have a much higher chances of creating bad experiences for themselves. That's because of how attached they would be with their gambling activities. They would want to win more than losing. Of course no one wants to lose. But focusing till much on the money making aspect for gambling is risky and could become a problem. Some people call it a form of entertainment, but they still play for the bag, the difference between them and the gamblers form number 2 is the fact that they don't put too much effort into gambling. The point is that everyone has a different view in the world of gambling, meaning (same hair above just a different way of thinking) that's human.
Personally, I have a view of the world of gambling that "As a form of betting that can make money and can spend money" these are the only two elements that come to my mind, not entertainment, fun and so on.

My view on gambling is that it's an entertainment with the bonus of having the chance to win something, and it doesn't really matter if the win is big or small, being able to get something out of your entertainment is always a good thing. Thinking of gambling that way has made me more aware of my gambling habits and overall has made me a more responsible gambler. To be honest, if more gamblers think of gambling this way, maybe there will be fewer people who have issues with gambling.

That is a very interesting topic. Honestly i do not gamble my money for fun or to think like i will double it in gambling. If i see someone in the casino who might give me benefit in the long run i am talking about networking may be i do gamble with him at that time not to beat him and double my money but by giving him a company . That was just a reason where maybe i do gamble my money but just for fun i will not gamble my money because there are a lot of things available in this world for fun. I personally view gambling as a form of entertainment in which one is supposed to pay to have the privilege to partake into it, so I am more inclined for the first option. However, when one gambles and one manages to win some money out of pure luck, it becomes very difficult not to view gambling as a way to make money and turn our time and luck into money.

The entertainment talk is always grease with purpose of making money but that's always hidden. There is no gambler that push entertainment at first, I know alot of things friends do on hangout rather than gambling. In fact, some friends are skeptical with how they set gambling as entertainment for others because they know the loss involved and don't put gambling. So when people gambler for entertainment, there is money in it just that it's not shown.

The money becomes the first thing when the process begins, try some luck to win few and once it start working, the strategy changes, they start to move other ways and the worse of it is that when the loss comes in, not every gambler know how to handle it. I tend to go with option 2 because it is to win that I play for and not for entertainment. If I want to test new game or play for entertainment, I simply use the demo version that is available in most casinos and does not require me to deposit real money.
