-snip-
This is exactly why I said decentralisation never worked as it should have because people are always ready to abuse it. Anyways not your fault mate,
Centralization has levels and those who are higher can always control those who are lower with rules. This means you may increasingly be exposing yourself to layered and structured risks that rarely win you over. One of the centralization products is to profiling "abuse" from their own perspective which creates ruless to dictate lower levels.

Surely time heals. Op should hodl on to the coins that has reduced in value because with time it will recover and probably give more value, that bitcoin for you.

But if he gets annoyed and throws it out to the wind, he is not contributing to bitcoin decentralization because known of us can change that status of bitcoin as a decentralized digital asset, not even how much value we lost. That's if he lost anyway  Grin
Bitcoin price loss and gain is a two way thing for bitcoiners, selling at a low rate causes much pain when the price goes up, more painful to what buyers who bought at the peak would feel when the price goes down. Everybody gets a fair share!

For Bitcoin to remain decentralized, it has to be different from fiat banking system and that's why the loss we as investors or believers in Bitcoin experience, helps to keep the ledger pure.
Any investment in Bitcoin test ones patience and tolerance for drawdown because without this, how can we truly say Bitcoin is decentralized, self sovereign and different from fiat currency?
Bitcoin is a decentralized currency already....the way we bank fiat currency is not the way Bitcoin is been banked, fiat is centralized currency and that's why is generally accepted in any centralized market..whereas Bitcoin is not generally accepted..so you should be convinced of bitcoin been a decentralized currency...

And they're a lot of difference between decentralized currency and centralized currency..which is visible to the blinds..why investors queue up to Bitcoin is due to they have seen the gravity of bitcoin as a decentralized currency....And if bitcoin is not been seen as a decentralized currency many investors will dump bitcoin due to theirs no privacy...

What you "lost" so far in the market since +120k could be considered part of your contribution to keep Bitcoin safe from centralization and elite capture. Calculate how much that contribution is worth, the total is another kind of investment you should be patient enough to reap its fruits in the future.
~

In the market there are winners and losers. Those who bought at the bottom of the market are the ones who become strong, even though there are a lot of things happening in the market, they still manage to hodl the bitcoin they have imagine the stress and anxiety it gives every time the news gives a negative feedback about the market. For those who bought at the top and didnt much analyze the market, they are the one gots the lesson its like a charge to experience. They are just these people who get FOMO in the market and lose their money.

Bitcoin is currently on a "Self defense" mode to protect itself and prove certain people wrong that rich people or the elites control the price. Had it been true that they actually control the price, they and their followers would have used that to request for more say in the running of Bitcoin and determining the future direction. And that would have given them the bargaining power to effect changes without your consent, and for the benefit of their companies/businesses .

Well basically because of the limited number of supply these rich people can actually do manipulate the market by just buying and selling large amounts of their hodl but again, traders are willing to catch the discounted price so even though they have an opportunity once people are bullish price will bounce back.

Not all the bitcoins that we actually "lost" can be considered as a contribution towards decentralization.
There are instances where people have actually lost access to their keys and hence lost access to their funds.
Such coins are not contributing towards decentralization but towards the supply reduction.
That can also be considered a good sign as it will indirectly increase the price of bitcoin.

I don't know why and since when people confused with decentralization of Bitcoin from its hashrate distribution to bitcoin distribution or bitcoin circulating supply reduction.

As far as I know, Bitcoin decentralization is from its blockchain, its hashrate distribution, its node distribution, because these elements make the Bitcoin blockchain and network.

The Bitcoin blockchain.
The Bitcoin network.
Bitcoin decentralization.
Quote
Decentralization is the distribution of power, control, and decision-making across many independent participants rather than concentrating it in a single authority. In Bitcoin, decentralization ensures no entity can censor transactions, change the rules, or seize funds.

Those that are in loss are the ones that sold immediately the market drop , they may not be completely in loss some folks has already being in profit because they started buying earlier than the range of $100k so when the price increases to $120k their profit actually increases too so if they didn’t sell then and they sold after the prices deep . Their profit will only reduce and stuff while some that buy at the top which is the price range of $120k , so they will be in loss in terms of value but not completely loss cause they are still holding and still accumulating .

People actually have misunderstood this bitcoin decentralization with things like price movements or market trend, you would see people saying institutions are actually manipulating bitcoin and they end up attaching this to bitcoin decentralization, where it is not affecting bitcoin decentralization at any point. Same thing as lost bitcoin which is actually reducing the bitcoin supply and is actually adding to bitcoin scarcity which in turn will contribute to the fiat valuation of bitcoin in future.

The contribution we can make to bitcoin decentralization is simply to actually run a full node as node adds to more decentralized network and if possible run be a miner too, this are things that actually make the network decentralized because the more number of people running nodes the more decentralized the network would be

In Bitcoin market, maker makers existed years ago, not only since January 2024 when Bitcoin Spot ETFs approved and went lively in the USA. In the past years and now, manipulations in Bitcoin market are on the market price, trading volume, and things used for manipulation to trigger market moving up, down, surge or crash like news, fuds.

The market manipulations are not about Bitcoin decentralization which is another thing. Market makers must own considerable bitcoins like Bitcoin miners, whales or institutional investors but there are changes from miners, whales to institutional investors recent years.

I totally agree with you on that one and I believe one thing that people do not think about is that a loss is only considered loss when you choose to sell. While it is obviously not pleasant to see your portfolio on red line once you bought on top, but if the original plan was to hold for the long term,  then a price correction doesn't necessarily change anything at all.

This is also why it's very important to avoid investing money that you will need for everyday survival.  Market dips hurt more when you are being forced to sell out due to financial pressures.  It's easier to be patient if you are only putting in what you can afford to leave untouched for a long period of time.

There is no investor or institution that can control Bitcoin. There is no manipulation in the increase or decrease of Bitcoin's price. It happens automatically. Basically, the price of Bitcoin changes based on the demand of investors in the market and various financial situations, business transactions and investors sentiment. Although it is true that those who have large amounts of Bitcoin can have a major impact on the price of Bitcoin if they want, it is not easy to do this because there is also a big risk here. If large investors sell a large amount to reduce the price of Bitcoin and the price decreases, then small investors will try to buy that opportunity Bitcoin at a lower price. That is why no one will try something that can bring them losses. It is a decentralized currency that investors can undoubtedly trust.

OP when i saw the caption of your topic, i was thinking that you want to talk about those who had bitcoins in their wallets but lost their private keys. For the fact that the price of bitcoin fell down from the last ATH it achieved to the price it is now doesn't mean that we faced any losses, except for those who sold in fear that the price might fall into extreme dip and not recover again but those who are still holding their bitcoin still have the possibility of the price making a recovery and achieve new ATH. I understand your point like saying that those that didn't sell their bitcoins are helping to strengthen the bitcoin network by creating a support that won't allow the price to fall too dip.

Bitcoin is open source and decentralized. Everyone has the right to assume whatever they want, and from their thoughts, to create a narrative based on their own mindset. If the mindset is wrong, the results cannot be correct.

Market prices can be manipulated by any willing party. If the price drop from +$120,000 to $60,000, which is already half of +120,000, is not wrong. But fundamentally, what determines price increases and decreases still lies in the strength of supply and demand.
Bitcoin remains the same and unchanged peer-to-peer electronic cash system. There are no intermediaries.

That's quite true. Lost coins only impact the economic side of bitcoin i.e., supply and scarcity.
For a short moment even I got a little distracted with that but yeah, decentralization is more on the infrastructure level.
It relies more on the nodes and hashrate distribution and so the more diversified they are, the more decentralized the network is.

Bitcoin is open source and decentralized. Everyone has the right to assume whatever they want, and from their thoughts, to create a narrative based on their own mindset. If the mindset is wrong, the results cannot be correct.
Bitcoin is open source and decentralized are not new information but some people by some ways tend to misunderstand about these things. Like decentralization of Bitcoin is from the Bitcoin market and bitcoin distributions while decentralization is about its blockchain specifications and network hashrate. By such decentralization, with Bitcoin secure blockchain and decentralized network, Bitcoin transaction are secure, not reversed with any request from anyone or any entity including governments, no freeze or seize of people's bitcoins in their non custodial wallets, and more.

It's like unwanted burn of bitcoins from people who lost their bitcoins.

It's more important than burned tokens from altcoins because many altcoins have their mint functions in smart contract that can be used to mint more tokens in the future. With Bitcoin blockchain, there is no such mint fucntion, and what lost and "burned" are all forever gone.

What you "lost" so far in the market since +120k could be considered part of your contribution to keep Bitcoin safe from centralization and elite capture. Calculate how much that contribution is worth, the total is another kind of investment you should be patient enough to reap its fruits in the future.
For everybody who never sold their Bitcoin right from whe it's value was still around $120k until now that it's value is almost half the price,  it's actually a motivation to not give up in the process. Because it's true that some individuals who had invested huge sum in Bitcoin thinks they can manipulate its price. But to their greatest surprise, the market, demand and supply for Bitcoin always surpasses whatever any private investor may want about the Bitcoin network and it's decentralized nature. So even if Bitcoin still falls more than it's current price, there are still some people who truly trust the process, knowing fully well that it is an asset worth holding over long timeframe.

However, Bitcoin is an asset with a very good potential, and right now is the best time to accumulate more, rather than giving up on it as it's price depreciates.

Bitcoin is currently on a "Self defense" mode to protect itself and prove certain people wrong that rich people or the elites control the price.
There's no in-depth research needed to understand that the rich and the elite people mostly control the price in every market setting because they are mostly the market makers.

Had it been true that they actually control the price, they and their followers would have used that to request for more say in the running of Bitcoin and determining the future direction. And that would have given them the bargaining power to effect changes without your consent, and for the benefit of their companies/businesses .
The elite that operates as the BTC market marker are not the major something we should be aware of. The major thing that could be the problem re Bitcoin ETF, but funny enough, they're the movement most people supported, due to the funds they introduced into the BTC market cap but they're going to turn BTC into JPEG like NFT.

Bitcoin is already way different from the trading banking system and fiat money. but thing slightly has started to move this way due to the coming regulations. In El Salvador, people use bitcoin as their fiat currency, according to my best knowledge. I can be wrong at this point, but what I know I am telling you. DYOR! Besides this, Wise people hate the traditional banking system because they know holding their own money in banks is equal to giving power to their system.

Because banks make their own empire stronger using our money, and we stay at the same point, and even over time, our money in banks keeps devaluing due to the increasing rate of inflation. So, I believe that it is better to save money in Bitcoin rather than hold it in banks. This is my point of view. DYOR!

The loses each person's have incured in the BTC before it come to stay can't be written off . I am happy today that all the effects people made have created an avenue for others to believe in the outcome today. This is a sign that no matter what happens BTC won't disappoint anyone as it reliable and nice to invest on.
Like you said people  run after Bitcoin EFT is different from BTC. They are also attracted to EFT because of what they get foem it.

Being in control of your own money is the dream of many because the value of money is usually gradually eroded by bank. I do concur that bitcoin can achieve so much in keeping our assets inflation proof. Care must be taken to adopt it because the crypto market is still risky. As we already know, the use of Bitcoin in other nation like El Salvador gives true perspective and hopefully that there are other countries that will take the system of El Salvador.
