Now I want us to sit down and hear this out in the new method day are using now to scam people on telegram, especially those that have been engaged in all this Airdrops hunting on telegram that they promise of rewarding us with their coins and the likes, maybe if you are not getting it right now on what I'm trying to say, check if you have participated in hamster combat, Holdcoin among many other telegram mining bots you activated on your phone, I think this is a time you have to rethink and act accordingly.

It happens today that I just received a message from unknown user claiming to be from Singapore, sent a message to me on an investment offer they are trying to build a global collaboration and include me on their team, that if I am interested to be one of their affiliate investors, the first thing I asked him was that how did he got my username and on what occasion, then he responded that it was Hodcoin telegram mining I joined sometimes 2 years ago or even more during the time hamster combat and the likes were trending.

After making such discovery, I quickly check on my telegram and saw that truly I'm still on that Holdcoin mining bot telegram app and haven't deleted or exited myself from it, all they are saying is to propagate a random content that will canverse you to invest with them and stated a particular return on investment ROI they will offer you on a daily basis, immediately I sense this, I blocked him and deleted the mining bot off my telegram.

If you know it has been long you participated in any of this telegram Airdrops hunting in the past, try and exit yourself from their bot and groups, they are using it to operate scam and send random information about illegitimate investment to people across their apps, be warned.

It is very difficult for you to see me responding to someone I don't even know how they got my contact or username on telegram, it is more easier to scam people when they are not careful with using this app because they are a lot of fraudulent route the use it for, any random person can just go straight to your DM and send your messages, don't join any group you don't know about.

Telegram settings => privacy and security => Messages => only my contacts ( remove it from "anybody" and set it to only those with your contacts) with this you're 90% safe from those kind of spam messages.

Thanks for the insights, I was just about to say that not everyone will appreciate using this future just to prevent those that are not within your contacts in reaching out to you, but as you have said that it is best for business people to avoid such feature being activated, except that we are using our telegram for personal use only.

This goes to all newbies and other members that will fall in either of the category, apply the settings as advice above based on your use of telegram.

I have experienced this kind of thing before on several occasions then i came across a thread by @fillippone where he was complaining about how a random user sent him a PM on telegram asking him to update his merit review thread then @Alone055 posted a procedure on how to stop receiving such random PM from people that are not on your contact list, that was how i set it that way and became free from receiving messages from random users.

You can stop random group contacts from sending you PM with the following steps;

Thanks for this information, I have participated in some of them in the past, but I’m unsure if I have exited some of them, will check to see to delete them, although I have exited myself from most of their community telegram groups I’ve joined, if not all of them. This new method of scam will no doubt target new crypto users whom mostly came into the crypto space through this telegram mining stuffs, they’ll easily be persuaded that what they’re coming with is true.

With their naiveness and how good they’re able to convince them, I’m certain some of them will borrow money to invest no matter how little since they promise them ROI after a certain period continuously. I have not heard of this hodcoin before but I have heard of several many others like the hamster kombat you mentioned, they were one of many that was popular then and people participated in them plenty then.

There are people that were disturbing me like this in the past. If you want to see the worse one, just join an ICO group on Telegram, you will see their spam messages flooding your Telegram account. Telegram made it simple, just visit the spam scammer message, you will see block or block contact or something like that at the upper part of the chat. You will block it just with one click, that is all.

Although, there are times I have time to play with them which will result to nothing but waste of time for the scammer.

I no go lie, I been join many of those mining stuff in the past and still dey the group, but I'm of the attitude of archiving those groups. This is a familiar evil, they cannot achieve anything unless you trigger it yourself and such is more reason we shouldn't click links we don't know, phishing link na de order of de day, even your niggaz wey don dey press fit even target you come send you mumu link make you fit fall, when em use you cash out, em go form say dem hack em account, I dey my school WhatsApp group, naim my cartel man from school days drop phishing link dia, I called him after a day say I wan greet am and say I no dey see am for Whatsapp again, make em try chat me, naim de guy use dat same number send me Hi , na den I know say em intentionally drop dat link. I just go delete de link as admin, come warn am seriously against dripping doze kain links for there.

Blocking is good if you only receive spam messages once in a while but if you're dealing with too many spam messages it becomes useless cause it pushes alot of work on you. Why go through the hassles of blocking hundreds of PM when you could just use the message filter to solve it permanently.

I used to also play along with them to have more knowledge about their scam methods so I can create awareness but I now, they irritate me.

This one no be new something again na, those days wey people join those crypto games for airdrops on telegram, na from those places wey them dey take get people usernames come dey send unsolicited PMs of investment platforms wey be fake, some of them dey even invite person for fake mining apps wey them go say make person use TON invest then the TON go dey yield profits everyday till you don accumulate minimum amount wey them go allow you to withdraw, e just be like as ponzi scheme dey do. You try as you bring am come here sha so that some desperate newbies no go fall for that kind thing. Telegram na depot of scammers so everybody just needs to dey careful of anything wey unknown person send give dem for there.

Thanks you for bringing out this, though I was a engaged on those Telegram aidrpp or mining back then for a long term, but to be honest it was a complete waste of energy and waste of one's precious time seriously. someone will spent like several months just on the tapping screen and be inviting many friends for the rewards. Only to get pennies from them at the end of it, the random messages I think it's general once you've ever participated on any of the Telegram airdrop mining, at time I used to existed myself from thier group, and within a few days I will start seeing another ones coming again, using a bitcoin name to scamm people since they know it's more valuable than any other cryptocurrencies as if my data leaked to all this malicious actors.

To me, I see absolutely nothing new about what you just explained above, because to be frankly speaking, this has been an old scamming method whereby people gets your phone number or telegram username just to chat with you, trying to convince you into investing into their scam project or investment. And normally, you ought to have known that whenever an individual comes into your inbox and start introducing to you an investment platform, because  that alone is always an obvious sign for scam.

Apart from setting who can message you to only your contact,  set who can see your  contact to nobody or contacts but if you have so much saved contact, it'sbetter using nobody instead. You will find same setting on same page as described by Igebotz. 

Telegram is annoying in that aspect htough, they know it's  usefulness thats why they made the one he mentioned premium only(it can also be detrimentalin some aspect as mentionedthough), same goes for voice messages  too .
