The really brutal reality is that Altcoins are a REALLY bad investment and have always been!  When you have dozens of thousands of Altcoins around it is easy to sort the Coin Market Cap list descending by percentage change in the last hour, day or week and say 'look at all these people making money' but in reality pretty much no one makes money, only a very few select lucky people or the 'developers' pulling the rug on them and the rest of people are simply losing or stagnating all the time!

There are obviously a FEW exceptions but when you have a handful of exceptions between dozens of thousands of non exceptions you should really ask your self if it is even worth risking it because at this point it is pretty much like purchasing lottery scratch cards!

This thread is aimed at collecting individual perspectives concerning various altcoins and what our feelings are, because over the time I have come across cryptocurrency investors bragging about their altcoins like coins from way back 2023-2025 and then now 2026, those that believe that they are going to become $millions profits through this various coins in they portfolio.
Let me ask are we still expecting the bigger price to come?
Or we should give up the expectation considering the reality pf altcoins right now?

I am sure they can still make millions or millions from investing in altcoins but the number of option is just a hundred times bigger than before, so you need to find the needle in even bigger haystack that sums up pretty well about making millions from altcoin investment. 2018 was the best year for altcoins and almost every projects gave the returns atleast before it reached zero but now in 2026, not even 5% of the project reaches any real value when it hits the market, it's like everything is done before the listing process.

Yes, over the years we have seen so many projects come up like it is going to be the next one but after a few months the project reaches it's threshold and one big whale decides to dump that project and it never recovers from it. We may also have seen some of the projects that deserve to stay gone to zero due to not enough support and trust from the community members.

That is what you'll see in the charts and that's historical. Maybe for some that it will work but for most, it won't.

Such altcoins have a common reality of ending up in a liquidity trap where holders have nobody who is willing to purchase the altcoin. this is quite the worse end result of holding an altcoin with no growth expectance, at a very low rate, some altcoins get delisted from top exchanges, tanking the remaining value entirely to nothing.

When there is no longer liquidity and volume in it, the investors or holders should expect nothing from it anymore.

As you said, they'll have hard time in selling the altcoin when there are no buyers but there's a lot of sellers.

So, with altcoins which is being picked by the holders as their lottery tickets they have to give that up because not all altcoins recovers after the bear.

In Altcoin Discussion, most of the time people talk about Bitcoin the main reason for this is that altcoins are now performing like shit coins. I don't know how people profit from altcoins every time I buy the value keeps decreasing after holding for a few days. I would never recommend anyone to hold altcoins for long term.

Altcoins are not even worth to hold right now. It's because there will always be a new altcoins created with almost the same idea like the previous alts. So basically, alts are getting stuck in the same place.

It's also getting worsen with how the demand for alts never go up, otherwise, it's decreased because the more alts created, the smaller pie that can be taken by any alts.

This is why holding alts sounds like a timebomb. Even when you thought you already entered at the bottom, it can go even lower than your bottom.

That's why alts never suitable for long term hold.
