Altcoin doesn't work like bitcoin that you can hold and expect gain, maybe some work like that but majority are purely hype. The altcoins people show off back in the days might only have 10% of its former all time high valuation. Altcoin market always shift.
Compare the 2021 bullrun cycle to 2025 bullrun cycle, the altcoin position by rank have almost completely changed and old altcoins are nowhere to be seen. Taking that into consideration, the same thing might play out and most altcoins will have close to zero value by the next bullrun.

I have already given that expectation and I thought that it was just a hype that I've rode and didn't make it. It just made me more losses and regret that instead of buying those altcoins, it should have been on bitcoin instead which the profit was more than those potential profits that I've assumed will come but it never arrived. Like from the period of 2021 to 2025, many considered good ones made a lot of us losses.

People switched to gold and precious metal, that was the altcoin season right there, it's like retailers decided to do something different this time, but I can't deny the fact that some altcoins did ran incredibly well, more than Bitcoin, and all these top altcoins...it's just getting harder to figure out which one is going to perform very well next, mind you the next season might be different, now that everyone feels tired around altcoins, something they hoped for in 2025 could happen next while every guide is down already.

Of course mate, that's the magnet of attraction from the altcoins market which has year to year gained consistent patronage from crypto investors. But figuring out to identify which altcoin among thousands of shitocoins that would perform well before even thinking of tremendously well is where the gambling come about. The chances are extremely low and that's why holding altcoin for long is just too risky to try when it can be done with bitcoin.

In my view, altcoin will not disappear completely and will remain an essential part of the crypto industry. However, periods of intense consolidation and shakeouts are unavoidable. And only projects with real value will survive, while most of the others will gradually disappear.

So there is still opportunity in altcoin investing. But of course, picking the right project is only going to get harder, and the risk will increase as the number of altcoin continues to grow.

I believe that only minority of people who brag about their bags do it because they believe in them. And i understand those that do. It's easy to get attached to new project you have invested to, and probably used time to research and got to be a member of their community. This community will block all the people who start to be critical and they keep on hyping each other, so it's just natural to believe you made a good choice holding their bag.

Majority of these hyping braggers are in it because they want to create buzz for others to find those alts and pump them.
Fomo is a hell of a drug, and most effective marketing tactic for newcomers.

I don't believe that top altcoins would "moon", but i believe that some coins and tokens with small market cap could. Because that's where these top coins started as well.

Finding those might be near impossible though. Markets are oversaturated, but i believe that ratio of money floating in and number of new altcoins hasn't moved that radically. So there's a change.
Tactic shouldn't be to believe that they will be in top 10 in the future, but set realistic expectations and sell while rising, and expecting them to crash eventually, which they most likely will.

It depends on the altcoins one is holding. If the altcoin has a use case, a strong foundation, dedicated developers, and strong community support, then yes, there is potential to make a profit.
Not all altcoins should be treated the same; some were created for their developers to get rich, while others were created to serve and be part of the industry in the long term.
So if you're going to invest in altcoins, follow their development and use cases, and check their communities, as so much depends on these factors for your profit.

Millions of dollars? that is a very terrible sentence for me, seeing the growth of price movements on altcoins there are not thousands of multiples anymore, especially in altcoins that are in the top 150 CMC if we don't use large capital it is difficult to get millions of dollars.
 
Expecting to get a higher price is certainly there, but don't expect too much considering that altcoins are already very more while the money coming into the market does not have a large growth, liquidity is divided into many altcoins so in this measure it must be proportional as well.
 
I don't give up and still maintain investment only in altcoins that have good fundamentals and also have a chance to continue their future, even though the altseason has almost disappeared but not a few altcoins also have good prospects and provide benefits.

Honestly altcoins really disappointed so many investors this cycle, no one can even be bold enough to explain what happened abundantly how it happened because all plans against investment even before halving all failed as far is it with altcoins except the known altcoins like BNB, ETH, and Solana, others actually pays but most of them failed investors.

At this point I come to realize that aiming big is good, but thinking vast is also very important; also, longevity is the key and that’s why Bitcoin is the only option I can prescribe to everyone right now as far as crypto is concerned. Buy and hold Bitcoin to avoid unnecessary losses in crypto because it is not easy to make money.

Many people expectations for altcoins are low right now because of the way they have performed in this cycle. Altcoins have really disappointed many investors. So, for now, I don't expect any altcoin to make a significant price move at the moment.However, I can't really say what will happen in the next Bitcoin cycle. Maybe many of the altcoins that are down right now will recover and reach new all-time highs.In fact, I don't have any altcoins in my portfolio, and I'm not even sure if I'll accumulate them in the future. One of the worst approaches an investor could make is to think of hodl an altcoin for years. Considering the price they bought it at a particular time, it will likely be much higher in the years to come. That's a silly reasoning because how many of the altcoins have come out strong from their shackles after experiencing the bearish market? I always enjoy discussing altcoins. People bought them at very high prices believing they would rise on the dates you mentioned. They thought the previous year's rise would come quickly and acted hastily. Patience is crucial in cycles, especially with altcoins. Otherwise, you might buy at very high prices, and the altcoin you bought might not even be in the next cycle, so you need to be very careful. I think it will rise again. Will Ethereum ever reach an all-time high again? I think it will, but when?

Altcoins depend on trends and hype after that is finished, don't expect to provide a lot of profit, every day there are altcoins that appear with the latest narratives, innovations etc. so if you try to invest in altcoins, please set a target to get out as well as possible.
Don't expect too much in the future to be more profitable, especially for altcoins that don't have their own network, even those that have the main network have gone out of business / sun set or shutdown.

Expecting millions of dollars in profits from various coins in the portfolio, then I conclude that the investor you have met is probably a whale buying a lot of altcoins.

We never know as the high price of altcoins in the future will be, some say skeptical, some are convinced that the altcoin season will soon arrive and can make 5x 10x profits, but I myself don't own many altcoins because they have underperformed during this bearish season. It's very different now than in 2016, so investors should do a reality check on the real potential of the altcoins they hold. Holding altcoins carries significant risks due to numerous rug pulls and Ponzi-scheme-type coins.
Not all altcoins will live up to their potential; many will end up as shitcoins, so if you're not good at looking, better settle for Bitcoin and altcoins that are in the top 5. Investing in new altcoins now, or even in old ones, is like gambling; there's so much uncertainty.
