It depends how you look at altcoins, there are many that have done well.

Look at Zcash and Quant for example, Zcash is up like 20x or something this year and quant pumped 500% in just a week back in September and what did Bitcoin do during that time? Nothing.

Its about finding top altcoins with real use case that can give 5x,10x even 20x returns and there are many altcoins that will do that.

Im not saying gamble on meme coins, im saying buy altcoins with real use that will be around for many years to come.

ZEC's price movements are only a result of hype. If you held ZEC before the "pump", then you'd consider yourself lucky. However, I have my doubts whenever this coin will be able to retain such high prices for long. Unlike Monero, ZEC is driven with corporate interests in mind (the Electric Coin Company). Besides, all CEXs require you to use t_addresses (which stands for transparent addresses) on the Zcash Blockchain to buy/sell coins. Monero don't have this kind of issue (AFAIK). It's private by default.

If you're only interested in making money, however, ZEC proves to be quite a profitable short-term investment. The decision is ultimately yours. I'd "stick" with ETH, LTC, and a few other coins with smart contract capabilities (SOL, BNB, etc). The market is unpredictable, so anything can be expected.

I am 100% altcoins. Dont own any Bitcoin yet, but do plan too.

Us altcoin holders have just been waiting for a good run for altcoins to happen so we can then sell profits to then put into Bitcoin.

Altcoins have been down against Bitcoin for over 5 years now, but i do feel sometime next year that will change and when it does that is when i will sell my alts and then put a lot of the profits into Bitcoin to hold long term.

Not a bad plan , but not a new one either. Plenty of people have done the same thing before you. But you know what? Most of them ended up in red, since alts are way riskier and their fundamentals aren't nearly as solid as BTC.

If alts were that easy, why even switch to BTC later ?  And if they have got that much potential, would not just holding them make more sense? Tbh,  I tend to be pretty sceptical of people who say they're gonna go into BTC once they are in profit on altcoin.

Final,  mate, buy and sell based on what you actually know and where market is right now, not just what you expect.

You switch to BTC later as ultimately it is the safest play for the long term.

If I am lucky enough get a 10x for example with an altcoin, why would i risk continuing to hold it when it can crash back down at any point.

I plan to sell my alts near the next cycle high, wait for Bitcoin to come down a bit from its next high , and then buy bitcoin with the alt profits.
