Is the World Cup 2026 a moment of glory for African teams?

We cannot call it a moment of glory for African teams just yet until the world cup is over but from we can all see that African teams are doing very well in this world cup and honestly a lot of us that are Africans didn't even expect this from them. From the way I see it I doubt if Any African team can win this world cup.

The African teams are performing well. So far it is just the South African team that has been knocked out. Personally I’d hope to see most of these African team proceed past the knockout stages. Somehow, I also hope we can see two African teams play against each-other. It would be a pretty interesting game.

Win the world cup? Probably not but they are performing adequately and that only deserves commending, it's not everyday we see them perform as good as they've been performing so far in this world cup, I actually did not expect them to be this good, still do many teams in the game, they just have to keep pushing forward and who knows maybe make it to the quarter finals or maybe even past that as well, it's not wrong for us to hope after all.

The glory that means at least from the African continent country can knit to the final, I myself can not predict now because what I see from the European team is still strong although it does not rule out the possibility that the African team can be better.

Egypt and Morocco, maybe these teams are better in my opinion, but the knockout stage is not over yet so we don't know who will qualify for the next phase.

Honestly speaking African teams are playing a good football, out of 10 African teams that qualified for the FIFA World Cup, 9 qualified for the Knockout stages of the World Cup.

But I must confess I don’t trust this other countries to go far in the FIFA World Cup, I’m very sure Morocco getting far in the World Cup after eliminating Netherlands from the World Cup.

Actually the World Cup can be a moment of Glory for mostly the African teams most especially Morocco, I don’t think the rest of the teams can do anything, they might be going out in the round 32 so anything can happen.

World Cup matches are played in different stages , it started with the group stages and in that phase every country is focused on how they can make it out of the group stage to qualify for the next rounds. Now the group stages have been concluded and out of 10 countries representing Africa continent, 9 were able to made it out from the group stage to qualify for the next round, I think for that stage so far it has been a win for Africa. Now we head into the next round and we’ll also make our analysis after the round of 32 where we’ll also access how many African countries Made it out, if it’s a win for Africa or not. For me, the game I’m really looking forward to is the game between Cape Verde and Argentina, Cape Verde is a small African nation who have really shocked us in this World Cup, holding Spain to a draw game in full 90 minutes and also drawing against Uruguay, and qualifying from the group. Let’s watch if they can upset the reigning FIFA World Champions Argentina in this next round.

It is absolutely a massive performance from the African teams. But I don't think it's necessary to start praising them to much, because there's still a very long way to go, and I'm not sure if any them can make it through. I would be very much happy if any of them find their way to the final.

So let's keep watching, because they are still in good form. Everything is possible in the game of football, and nobody knew this World Cup will favorable to them.

African teams have indeed proven and shown they have what it takes to compete with the best, and I must say that it’s been exceptionally thrilling watching their performances since the beginning of the competition. There’s no doubt that most of them would make it past the knockout stages. I wasn’t expecting an all African clash, but I feel it would be interesting to witness, and this wouldn’t just be about who wins or who loses, but it’ll be creating an opportunity for the African teams to showcase how much they’ve really improved and progressed over the years, but this time, in a much bigger stage.

Congratulation for Morocco to win over Netherlands and i have to says this team has strong mentality that when almost won from normal time but Netherlands can equalized the scores but, Morocco didn't panic and remain focus until the game continue to penalty shootout. After this result Morocco next opponent is host team Canada that they should beware of host team because Canada will have a good motivation to beat them considering Canada want to make a new achievement too.

Ivory Coast today will play against Norway but i don't have any records between them because this is their first time to met on world cup and i think this is hard game too for Ivory Coast considering Norway in the good shape moreover,  Norway has Haaland who currenty on fire and there is possibility for Haaland to scores if Ivory Coast players not guard his movement with very well. I agree with your point. an all African match up would be more than just another knockout game because it would show how much football on the continent has developed over the years. These teams had become more organized, confident and consistent against top oppositions which is why their results are no longer surprising. It would also be a chance for more people to recognize the quality of African football instead of seeing these performances as upsets. Regardless of which team advances,, it would be a positive moment for african football as a whole and could inspire even more belief going into future international competitions.

I agree with most that the chances of any African country winning the World Cup are minimal (although seeing the large number of teams, perhaps I should rethink my beliefs), but what is true is that the large representation of African countries finally honors a continent that, otherwise, always fights for its place in the world to be recognized.

I also noticed these statistics, but I think we should at least wait until the quarterfinals are over. The success of many teams now is easily explained by the fact that the number of teams has increased and the competition in the first stage is minimal. In general, aren't you bothered by the tournament format, where eight of the 12 third-place finishers make it to the playoffs? From a competitive sports perspective, this looks more like a friendly warm-up games than a competition where everyone is eliminated except one.

the new format is a bit unusual and evokes mixed feelings. on the one hand, several relatively weak teams that would have had no chance under the previous format have advanced to the playoffs thus lowering the level of competition. but on the other hand, now there are more matches where clear favorites can face weaker teams. from a football betting perspective this format is suitable. only two matches of the round of 32 have been played so far and I'll have to wait until everyone else is played to form a more clear opinion.

I'm still in the black (about +200% of my deposit), but games between favorites and underdogs don't seem like they're suitable for betting (in the sense that they offer some kind of special opportunity). The odds on the favorites are very low, so to get good odds you have to take higher risks, like a large negative handicap, but since the motivation of the favorites is low (they feel safe because of the tournament format where even most third-place finishers make it to the playoffs), this can easily work against you.

Honestly the African countries are doing well in this year world cup, and I know that a lot of them are going to make it even pass round of 16 as well, you check the list from what we have on the table, they have been performing well and still play against strong resistance to go beyond where they are, which is getting more exciting.

If you look up on other continent as well, you look at other continent as well, you're going to discover a number of them that has made it and it is a usual thing to always see the likes of some prominent countries still found in the game and are doing better as well over the time.

It will be a big honor for them so to speak if in case they will reach to the final stage. The more teams that will be in the qualifying round, the better chance for them to get into the finals. I believe they have the capability to be on top as they have their skills and talents that most of the teams may be missing out. The perseverance and their hunger to show to the world what they've got, will give them the motivation to conquer the hurdles in this sports.

It will be very hard for any African team to reach the final, do not forget that the FIFA board is very corrupt and they will have to rig the game for them to make sure that no African team reach the final stage. This is not the first time we have been seeing corrupt officials controlling what the outcome of a match will be and this is neither the first or the third time it has been happening.

This has being the mentality for a long long time ago among us Africans but I think in a situation where any African team could play so undoubtedly in an invincible form to beat any opponent at any stage there's no way the FIFA can have that influence in changing a clear cut result in a game the whole world is watching. There have being some unclear favouritism in a way in times past but I think as football evolves there are certain things that are just unbecoming anymore.

For example, today Morocco showed how to beat the Netherlands, although of course it was a penalty shootout, also known as a lottery, but other teams, such as Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo, can also prove themselves. England, for example, looks like the favorite in the upcoming match, but it certainly won't be easy for them, and perhaps they were worried when they learned of their losses in today's games.
