I watched a Nigerian movie on Netflix titled "The Governor", where corruption was at it's Peak. In the said movie, Corrupt politicians team up with some law enforcement agencies and political thugs to perform evil atrocities just for opposition purpose. This movie that talks about how politics works even in present Nigeria government, it talks about the corrupt government system of Nigeria when it comes to politics. The movie started proper and well until when a sitting Deputy governor lost her boss the sitting Governor to a fatal car crash. With the deputy fully owning the rights to being the next Governor and also contest for the sit during the coming elections, even with her lack of ambitions to take the job later accepted and assumed the position. The political God fathers of the ruling and both the opposition party were all against her contesting for the Gobernatorial sit after the first tenure because she was a lady, And secondly because she ruled with selflessness and sincerity in the first tenure, and they were not able to control her as their puppet as planned, putting her people's welfare first before anything else and not bending to the instructions of the godfathers. This act made her go through many difficulties such as; assassination attempts, impeachment plots, family crises, public embarrasement, betrayers from both the party chiefs and also her members in Council. Her husband being a professor and family members also tried by supporting her in the best way they could, even though her ambitions put the lives of her two grown up kids in danger. Later on the Deputy Governor who was sworn in and assumed the Gobernatorial position by right after the death of the sitting governor, with the help of her loyal, trusted and capable chief of staff leaned how to dance to the political game played by her opposition, fought hard and won the Gobernatorial election. This comes to the part where the innocent citizens are mostly the ones that suffers the most when such atrocities happens. A lot of innocent people end up being killed and framed for things they did not commit. Watching the movie made me realize that the corruption we speak of is far greater than we see it, and that any one who dares to fight it is threatened, or killed, they suffer and somehow are forced to leave. Relating this to real life made me realize that this is how it happens in real life and kept me wondering if we can ever fight this corruption if people who fight it are threatened and killed. Can Nigeria ever get better? Can we have a corrupt free Nigeria someday?

First of all, corruption can not be getting rid of completely. It's a global challenge. But the issue of corruption in Nigeria is way beyond what ordinary people think. Don't you find it surprising that all politicians are the same? Do you think it's just coincidence? No, it's not just ordinary. You have to play to their tune once you join or you risk elimination.
If you observe very well, you'll notice that only few politicians have clean mind and they are being hunted most of the time. Take Sen Natasha for example and see how she's been oppressed in the house that led to her suspension. Every sector is politicise including our security and that's why we are where we are like this. If you want to bring anything that's against the cabal, you are going down.
Corruption is beyond one man fight. Late president Buhari pledged to fight against corruption but his government is one of the most corrupt regime in the history of civilians rule in Nigeria. You see how EFCC are after ministers that served under his regime with huge amount linking to them right? That's to tell you that one person can not fight this corruption.

That's a question we know to ask, but as days and years pass, it becomes clear that Nigeria is far from getting better because of the level of corruption that has eaten deep into the country. I don't know whether there are any government sectors in the country where there are no corruptible citizens. Hard will you see, and if there are, they are few. Nigeria has made or turn people mentality to be different, as to see any given top position as a means to siphon government funds. Unfortunately, we once had a good country many years ago, but not again because the level of atrocities, insecurities, and corruption in Nigeria is far from getting solved any time soon

To everything that has beginning must also have an end, from the origin of Nigeria this said corruption never existed but came in because of the greedy mindset of leaders in the country which am sure will end one faithful day. Although it will take the highest sacrifice to eliminate corruption in Nigeria because it has eaten deep into the body of all but if a good leader is elected into power i know and believe it will take effect from there. We all know everything starts from the head and when ever there is change at the top it can easily get to the tail as it is the head that controls all part of the body. All we should pray for now is for a good leader and nothing more.

Well for now no hope of an end or reduction in corruption in Nigeria yet with what we are seeing, the corruption has eaten so deep that it affects literally every sector of the economy, the system is such that it forces citizens into corruption, first for you to contest for any position you have to pay big amount to buy the nomination form and also spend a lot during campaign so if you eventually win the election you will be automatically corrupt because your first year in office your target would be to recover the entire money you spent during the election.
Even to get an appointment, admission even NYSC etc one must have to bribe his way through before he/she can get in, little kids see their parents give the police bribe at check points in broad daylight and grow up with such dirty mentality, even the police are posted to remote areas by the government without any provision for shelter, fuel, feeding, clothing etc and are also given huge targets to remit at the end of the day by their superiors. Corruption has literally eaten up every sector of the Nigerian economy and it will take only a visionary leader to change the mindset of Nigerians and put an end to such level of corruption, so far Nigeria is yet to have such a leader.

Corruption is not something that start now and will have time to stop, corruption can not be end and if you want to fight against corruption you will end up being something that people will be laugh at because you don’t have anything to do about it, just as you said, only few politicians that have a good heart and even the ones that have a good heart are also corrupt and follow what the others do, you can not be a politician and you want to fight against corruption because the government itself is the corruption. Corruption is all over the world and no one can do anything about it, let use VDM as an example, he has been fighting corruption and that has make him one of the most famous person in the country but his power can not stop the corruption, he also get arrested for some of the things he said about the politicians and Nigeria and that shows how corruption has affected our country.

The background of Nigeria is already built on corruption, whereby anyone who is going for any position must have the mindset of corruption, if not you will not make it. Some people who are coming for any position in the government house, has already planned on how to embezzle money, when once the position they are looking for gets to them. Political corruption in Nigeria is not ending anytime soon, it can only be reduced by the people who have the country in mind, and those who refuses to take wrong advice from the corrupt leaders.

Corruption didn't start today and I don't think it will end because no one is perfect and in one way or the other we are all corrupted behind the scene, those who tried in the time past to fight corruption where killed that's to tell you that anyday one decides to fight corruption there are set of people who will go all out to fight back making sure that it remains because they end a living from corruption so it's not ending anytime soon. If Nigeria will be corrupt free it needs to start from the leadership of the country where the leaders will stop manipulating and rigging elections results in their favors and stop the bribery, that would be the first step of having a corrupt free Nigeria. Majority of those in the prison today are innocent but because the system is corrupt they can't say the truth and free the innocent just to cover up their evil deeds, the country has been built on corruption so it will be difficult for us to regain it by being corrupt free.

If corruption were to be only at the apex of leadership, we could tell that if we change the current leaders that things will become better but considering that corruption eats beyond leadership level and is all over our systems and structures in this country, a change of administration will solve little aspect of the corruption crisis we're currently experiencing. Will Thier be an end someday? Not directly but their will be an improvement if there's a change at key levels.

You don't need watching any movie for you to know that from the get-go of how we run our administrative system, you will know that corruption is embedded in the system. They will only be an end to the Nigerian corruption if the masses decide to make sure they enforce an electrical system that is transparent, else whatever we are saying is DOGONTURENSHI" an Hausa language which means big big grammar in English. The solution is not far fetch, it's staring us right in the face.

That's a question we know to ask, but as days and years pass, it becomes clear that Nigeria is far from getting better because of the level of corruption that has eaten deep into the country. Unfortunately, we once had a good country many years ago, but not again because the level of atrocities, insecurities, and corruption in Nigeria is far from getting solved any time soon It is actually going to be extremely difficult to eliminate or erase corruption completely because people are already drowning inside it. Nigeria has a lot of issues to address aside from corruption,, it won't be easy to eliminate it because it has become part of them. Leaders are the ones who could tackle this issues, but leadership or leaders from every angle are involved in it, including the state government, federal government and also the local government. So who will now want to take charge of addressing this issue, when their souls evolved around it.
