How would you best advice someone who is still trying to protect their loses?

There is no surefire and best advice for those trying to protect/chase losses in their gambling, except: stop completely other than that there is no way to advise it.
In the gambling arena there is no such thing as betting a little at a time, there is no such thing as using side money and so on, remember in gambling money that has been lost will never come back again even if it brings a million pieces of advice.

Instead of advising new ways to protect against losses, even worse losses will occur, so block access to gambling platforms, limit hanging out with friends who frequently gamble, leave gambling groups if any may be the best advice to protect against gambling losses.

What do you mean "protecting their losses" - it's perpetuating the problem by making gamblers think they have any control over the situation, when in actual fact every casino is set up and built like a funnel to transfer your money over to them. If you ever think you've reached the point where you have lost control, then the only solution is to stop entirely and no half measures like trying to play once a month will do. It is actually liberating once you free yourself from the burden of the habits you've formed but breaking free is hard. The first days, weeks and even months will require you to actively distract yourself from falling back into the easy addiction you can do blindly. Another requirement for getting free is accepting all that money you've put in so far is gone.

What you have mentioned has happened to the most of us. Almost every gambler would have fell for the trap of chasing their losses.
Beginners fall for it more often and as they become experienced gamblers they come to know that chasing losses is a huge trap.
We should be using money saving strategy while gambling by allocating a strict budget for gambling and betting within that budget.
Money management is the key to survival in gambling and that takes us a long way ahead.

I don't really get this your question I mean how can someone protect loss? The knowledge and understanding I have about protecting loss is by not allowing or not revealing to anyone the loss you have incurred in gambling but I have the feeling you want to ask a different thing but this is what it actually means to protect loss. It's not about protecting losses in gambling, it's something that is certain to lose in gambling games, If you want to protect it, you have to stop and not play again, even if you are disciplined in losing, you will definitely feel it.

They know the truth but feel ignorant about it, that is why they feel the best option for them it’s to chase after their loss, whereas they are only causing more problems for themselves. From your writeup, I assume you mean how we can avoid loss chasing.  The simple answer is to have a budget and control our emotions. Don't fall into the temptation of using money that is allocated for other expenses for gambling. Immediately your allocation for the month or week is finished, quit gambling until you have spare money to fund your account.

I am more familiar with the concept of chasing losses, instead of protecting losses.
It is more intuitive for me to visualize it that way.

If I would need to advice someone who constantly chases losses during their gambling sessions. I would show that person some examples of financial ruin due to that bad habit of some gamblers. People who are literally lose most of their assets, because they thought they still had a chance to get all back, when in reality they never had a chance against the edge of the house.

Also, I don't think it is good to "protect" money which has been already deposited on a casino, in my opinion. It is better to see any deposited money as gone in the moment we decide to wager with it, to me it sounds healthier.

Trying to recover your losses is a big problem.. Because when you start to be using the money you still have just to get back the money you have already lost, you are exposing that remaining money to even more losses… That is how people use to still end up losing way more than they planned..
