How would you best advice someone who is still trying to protect their loses?

I will tell them to treat gambling just as a game for today. Whether you win or lose, just enjoy today. Tomorrow is a different session. There’s no need to think about yesterday’s losses. We will never be able to beat the house, so lower your expectations. Just enjoy what you have with today’s gambling. And everything will be fine.

The main point here is that gambling for fun is only real when you win, but if you lose, you are not getting any fun from that as you are basically going to feel the discomfort that come with losing your money which is the main reason that you should only gamble with small amount since you can not tell how much you are going to lose from it.

The best advice, "don't gamble" is a powerful way to protect yourself from losses. Because when it comes to gambling, there's no such thing as no losses; you'll experience them even if you gamble responsibly and within your budget.

Enjoy gambling and enjoy the losses (meaning losses you can afford), and to stay on track, protect your emotions to prevent developing an addiction.

It is necessary to gamble responsibly. Bankroll management can help you reduce your rate of losses as a gambler. Most times our approach towards gambling is what leads gamblers to addiction. Some of us gamble without budgeting, no bankroll. There is no way to protect your losses in gambling. It is possible to protect your wealth by keeping yourself within a limit for a day. The amount of money you use in gambling will have very little chance of increasing the money or withdrawing it from there. Those who become serious about gambling and dream of changing their fortune by earning income from gambling gradually lose everything. But those who only enjoy gambling and gamble with a limit can protect themselves from big losses and at the same time if they are lucky then they can win money from there which increases both their pleasure and profit. I also gamble but always maintain my limit. Although on maximum days my luck seems good and I can win, I do not get greedy and come back from there very quickly and I think this is a great and effective strategy for protecting losses.

Dont know on what you do mean about on protecting losses but rather i would say that you've been chasing it instead. Whenever you do play gambling then the primary thing that comes up into your mind is on how to make money and whenever you do lose then the primary thing that comes up into your mind is on how you would really be able to recover those loses on which we know that the reality that we do really end up on having those problems on which it would be causing up that more loses and the moment that you cant be able to stop then this is where desperation kicks in on which you would be ending up on taking up some loans because you arent that still able to get your goal. This is where gamblers lives becomes messed up just because they've been tolerating out that kind of urge. This is why its recommended that you should really be only playing into the amount that you can afford to lose.

This is my first time hearing the phrase "protect your losses," honestly. What I know is that gamblers control their activities so that they dont lose much. In a way, they are protecting their bankroll, not their losses. Losses cannot be protected, but they can be avoided from when we have exhausted our bankroll and by sometimes avoiding games that are not favorable.

We can always protect ourselves from too much losses but we can never protect our losses because gambling normally lead us to losses, however we can minimize our losses the moment we start setting our budget betting funds.

And when we say protect our money, that means that if gambling can make us lose most of the time, then its better to stop gambling for a while.  The best way to avoid this is to always gamble with what one can afford to lose because when we gamble with what we can afford to lose , then there won't be the need to chase after losses in the first. I think you've made a really good point. A lot of gamblers end up trying to protect the money they've already lost instead of protecting the money they still have. That's usually the moment when emotions start taking over instead of common sense. That's when people break their own rules, go over their budget, increase their bets, and make decisions they would never make if they were thinking clearly.
In my opinion, it's not just panic. It's also the fact that people hate accepting a loss. They'd rather risk even more money than admit it's gone. That's why the best way to protect your finances is to treat your gambling budget as money that's already been spent and never chase losses with money that wasn't meant for gambling in the first place.

That’s right because some people only feel like learning about budgeting is everything they need for money management, but the truth is that, while budgeting is indeed important for every gambler, it doesn’t just end there, yes, it goes beyond that, one must also learn how to stick to their budgets too, which most of the times are actually the hardest parts. Which means it's limiting our losses right? I guess if we're already setting a budget each time we gamble, we're already protecting our money and preventing bigger losses. There's no such thing as a guaranteed bet in gambling so the best way to prevent greater losses is by managing our budget. It's better to tell people to only gamble with money they're prepared to lose and to avoid becoming addicted to gambling. Once someone becomes addicted protecting their money becomes much harder than before.

You were making a lot of sense,  it until you came to the point where you stated that gambling is for the rich folks. This is a very wrong assumption/assertion. Gambling isn’t for the rich alone, even those who are not rich can equally gamble, provided that they can actually gamble within their means and budgets without having to exceed them. Everyone has their individual financial capacities, and acknowledging this is the key to financial management in gambling. My advice would be to help them change their mindset from trying to recover losses to them protecting what is left. The money that is already lost is gone and every decision should be based on the present not you trying to undo the past because you just cant. You chasing losses is one of the fastest ways gambling turns into a serious financial problem because panic and emotion take over your rational thinking. A simple but vey good rule is that once you have reached your budget limit or your loss limit, you stop completely, like no exceptions, even if you feel the next bet could change everything. If you repeatedly find yourselves unable to walk away after losing, that is a sign they may need to take a break from gambling altogether or seek support because the issue is no longer about winning money but about regaining control over your decisions.
