Terrorism and its representatives should in any case be banned on this forum, it goes beyond any freedom of speech that everyone talks about.

What is your understanding of freedom of speech? Do you know that there is an unofficial rule that says "No trolling?". If freedom of speech is what you think it is, why will such a rule apply?

Such as 7days ban, few days signature ban, read only mode etc. This will promote peaceful co-existence and curtail to the barest minimum any form of bullying, unfriendliness, acrimony or as the case may be.

During when i was learning how to drive, i was told that i should see every other drivers who are driving on the road as mad people while i'm the only sane person. What does this mean? a lot of people are roaming around with psychological problems, it is left for you to ignore those people when you see them since you are the only one in the right frame of mind.

Inasmuch as human race exists, there will always be disagreement between one another so you can't teach adults how to live their lives and how to talk to the next person. Learn to ignore things you ain't comfortable with, even those that are directed at you. This is the internet, people will always look for ways to annoy you but like we always say here, grow a thicker skin.

If someone insults you or use a hate speech, it's left for you to return same energy or let it slide. We ain't kids here, no one teaches us how to behave anymore. Perhaps, if we start to ban or abolish discussions that leads to people insulting or bashing each other, the forum might slowly begin to get boring. We need more liveliness in the forum inasmuch as it doesn't lead to physical altercation.

Sometimes, it is not hate speech but because you don't like that person, you see it as hate speech. You can be very biased with your thinking about posts from a person you dislike or hate, so very likely all or most of that person's posts are hate speech with you if you and that person are in a direct discussion in the forum, somewhere else on the Internet or even in real life it is still true.

Because people are different since their birthdays, grew up in different nations, and socio economic conditions, experience different situations in their lives, it's not necessary to argue with each other too seriously and let it make both sides unhappy or angry. If you feel it is enough, just forget about the discussion and that person, move on.

Of course if you can join a debate and learn something valuable from it, that's good but otherwise, don't let it affects you too much.

I know that this is a free forum where there are not many restrictions but you see those things I listed earlier, they cause disintegration among people.

And that is normal thing to happen, especially when the discussion involves topics like war.

My suggestion is that discussions about wars between two or more countries, world politics, religion and racism should be abolished or banned such that when a topic that will lead to heated arguments is made, the moderators can trash that topic.

So you want people to live in a bubble where things are all sunshine and rainbows? Discussing things like war, world politics, religion is part of society and community, especially on a forum where it has a board called "Politics and Society".

It is very sad that these wars are fought on the battlefield and also on bitcointalk forum, but it is what it is and the forum is not going to go against its ideals of free speech to change that. There are other ways individual users can handle things, such as: don't visit the P&S board if you get easily offended or simply ignore users you hate reading what they say about a particular subject.

Your explains are actually kinda contradictory OP. If you do recognise the fact that this is a public forum where people are free to discuss what they wish, then why the naivity on discussions that are bound to be raised? If a topic does break any of the forum rules and isn't in the wrong boards admins aren't gonna do anything about it.

I’ve known better to often allow just anyone win, it’s the true way to be satisfied with an argument that surely wasn’t going nowhere.

I understand why OP is being emotional about this but to think that it would be censored though, not happening when we have free speech on here. The forum is an extension of our world and all that happens therein and as such, I don’t see why there wouldn’t be sides to events and how people might react.
So, it’s either you speak on it or stay out of it. Though, it’s really disheartening to find that a war we hoped wouldn’t take weeks have taken 4 years and several other nations keep coming up with yet another war. My heart always goes out to the people that are affected by these wars the most, I truly can’t say I understand how they manage through it all. Peace!!!

In a forum that allows you to regulate the kind of contents on topics and discussions you consume, you choose to focus more on a board that majors on heated arguments. Logically, don't you think you're more of a problem to your mental health than the board you want to be abolished?

You can ignore the forums which you don't want to see if you don't want to read any politics topics that is about the Russian / Ukrainian war.  Why do you have to interfere with what other people think or talk? Was there even a time where everyone got along with each other and there were no arguments, no hate, no insults, only positivity all around?  This kind of peace is difficult to keep up with even in real life, let alone on the Internet.  This is like the wild west!

Someone who's country is at war will always approach war discussions with grief, anger and hatred. I wonder what Op expected in a war thread. He could be feeling differently if he doesn't belong to either countries, and the best he could do is to ignore the thread or board and not trying to change people with traumatic experiences.

I sincerely feel sorry for those affected by the war and actually wish everything war ends, but the reality is there's nothing much we can do from this end we are.
