How come that you do not know anyone that is betting around you, are you from a country that gambling is not allowed but illegalized? But some people can be betting but like their privacy.

Well, it's a new era of gambling. Maybe that's how they see it. Relying on AI is better for them than doing all the homework of research and analysis, which to some people could be tiresome. Well I don't. I am from country where gambling frowned upon by people generally (but people do play cards for entertainment purposes indoors), and illegal in most but legal in couple states out of plenty.

BTW on vain note, illegalized word just feels wrong, doesn't it? I thought it can't be a word but apparently it is.

Well, I've not seen though but Ive heard of some similar cases of Ai betting which to me isn't ideal. Ai predictions are based on data it gathers and placing bets based on what Ai thinks might end up in losses. The world cup though is an opportunity for anyone interested in gambling to get familiar with it. They can watch every round and understand the different strengths shown by players and may be place bets on the next games. The Ai gambling is something that will now be reliable on a long term and for someone who is new into gambling, trusting an Ai that early when they are supposed to take their time to make analysis is to me a quick way to take losses. And not a good way to start your gambling journey..

So far, most of the people I know have never used AI to predict football matches. Even in this WC, we already saw a clear example early on when Spain and Cape Verde ended in a draw. If you had asked AI to predict that match beforehand, it probably would have said Spain had a much higher chance of winning and scoring more than two goals.

Before this AI era, when the world cup is going on or even major football tournament that is not club matches, I get to see new gamblers who want to try their luck for that moment. And this time around with AI, yes I know of new gamblers who do their picks using AI. Although they are not totally relying on AI, they combine it with analysis from friends. Personally, I don't rely on AI because they only make data available from database of country's world cup history, performance etc but sometimes the current reality is what you need to make a good analysis. For instance, Germany left the tournament early and AI may not have seen that coming.

Yes, there are. Many people have been betting throughout the World Cup, from the group stage until the Switzerland vs. Algeria match.

I don't have any idea of new bettors around much more using AI basically on the world. AI is not that reliable for betting even as it looks as if the world cup is concentrated as per the attention given to it that doesn't really increase the reliability of AI. Will AI really give a result close to authentic if not the same basically prediction that's not necessarily certain? This has always been the case with many people joining betting on sports during big events like Euro or World Cup and it is not related to AI, even before AI was a big thing these type of bettors were around during these major events. Of course AI now makes it even easier as people who don't know nothing about gambling have AI explaining them the rules, back in my time even internet search was giving scarce results in 2002 until 2007 when things really started moving forward in information technology.

Using ChatGPT for sports picks is just the modern version of buying betting tips from social media. I don't think a general-purpose AI can give anyone a real edge over the market.
It mainly works with publicly available information that bookmakers have already priced into the odds. It also has no real understanding of concepts like EV or sharp money. AI can be useful for researching teams or statistics, but I wouldn't trust it to make betting decisions for me.
I can imagine some crypto sportsbooks eventually adding "AI predictions" or "AI stats" as another marketing feature if enough casual bettors are interested.
