That has to be demonstrated through the product. A clear architecture diagram is not the same thing as a clear user experience.
Which part feels least intuitive to you at the moment: the separate signing device, pairing, or the backup process?
Well, for me, there is no least intuitive part because pairing won't be a hard task. Once the two devices are paired, the signing becomes easy, so that's also not so hard even for a non technical person. Although, for a normal person with a single device, it can be a problem, as this requires two devices.
It also depends on how you allow us to pair and sign. But a visual tutorial would be enough for a non technical person. Although, what if someone does not have two devices?
Can they run their signer in an isolated environment like a VM or something? Many smartphones and laptops can create a different user where they can disconnect it from the internet with some settings if possible, or a VM can do it, right? But still, so far, the experiences I have had, the more convenient it will be, the more adoption it can get.
