Why do some countries stay poor despite having abundant natural resources?

Everything still falls on the government...Surely ,I have heard of how citizen goes to steal their own natural resources just so they can sell and have their next meal, but the question here is that if the government actually provided a better living conditions for the citizens, then they wouldn't have to start stealing their own resources.. Also the government sometime don't even make effectively use of the wealth that they generate from the natural resources, instead they prefers to go ahead to satisfy their personal gain with the money..And if that continues, it may be very difficult for such a country to ever move forward..

Of course what do you expect from innocent citizens to do when the government are not doing their jobs Very well, it will lead to many unlawful behavior and stealing and selling of their own natural resources will be the only option left. In my country i see many youth engaging in oil pipeline vandalisation which is breaking crude oil line iligally and using it to do an iligal refinery which is used to produce iligal fuel, kerosene and diesel. While some go into online/internet fraud. Women into hookup/ prostitution as a result of high level of poverty, some involved in child trafficking and iligal migration to another country through risky and deadly means to look for greener pastures. So when the government has all it takes to make the country better and they refuse, it will increase iligal activities.

So the answer to your question is that why some countries remain poor despite having abundant natural resources is as a result of bad leadership.

Corruption:
Resource money goes to politicians and elites, not to schools, hospitals, or roads. Secret deals with contractors are common.

One-resource risk:
If the economy depends on just one resource, it crashes when prices fall.

No investment:
Investors avoid the country due to weak laws and no property rights, so no new factories are built.

The solution:
A stable government and low corruption are needed to turn resources into prosperity.

WHAT THINGS ARE NEEDED TO TURN NATURAL RESOURCES INTO PROSPERITY IN YOUR POINT OF VIEW ?

First is the nationalist spirit needs to be built for the spirit in nation building, focus on educational infrastructure to regenerate the nation into a society that is creative and innovative and can be independent, investment in human resources of their own is the most appropriate way to develop the potential of the future, as it was done by Japan after it was destroyed by the US, they call teachers to educate the people and they managed to become a developed country with the technology they produce.

Why corruption is still running in developing countries because intelligent people with low nationalism make them easy to turn and prefer for personal and group interests and therefore also the government does not create laws and economic systems that lead to the progress of a country either in the utilization of natural resources or elements of welfare citizens.

Countries also need to encourage research for the latest technology in many sectors, especially in the use of natural resources, making raw materials into semi-finished goods or even ready for consumption, the added value of this production will be very valuable than selling raw goods.
