What the forum needs are active moderators who act independently without reports, and if they are going to take serious action, then it is logical that they start their work from the top of the forum.
+1. Give each board a few (different) active moderators and bitcointalk would be much cleaner place. Also, I'm pretty sure that there would be enough of quality and reputable members who would do the job for free so that wouldn't cost forum anything. Regarding the poll, I voted for Bitcoin Dicussion and Gambling boards for obvious reasons. Almost everyone said the gambling discussion, which is filled with more spam but if anyone noticed that section most of the threads are being locked by mods after it reaches certain replies which we can assume that it no longer needs to be discussed but the board is so active that created hundreds or even thousands of posts everyday.

I was expecting to see an option that says all the sections, because I believe all this sections in this forum needs clean up, and again I was also expecting you to say what are the ways to clean this sections up because without a solution we are just wasting our time, we should concentrate on finding a solution to keep all the sections in this forum very clean. For me the problem when it comes to cleaning this forum up Is the problem of different ideology and interest, a thread that may seem frivolous or uninformative to a particular person may actually be meaningful or informative to the other person. However I understand a particular thread or post may be frivolous or uninformative to everyone too and I think we should start from those posts or threads, it won’t be easy because mods will have a lot of work to do.

Not taking anything away from the current moderators because when you report any post or thread to them they actually take action fast but I definitely agree with you that they would actually do with more helping hand, so more active new moderators are the first step for me. For board’s cleaning I think if we even want to throughly clean everywhere I think almost all Boards with exception of Technical boards will be left out, even off topic might see some cleaning too. For purposes of just voting on the pool, my pick will be Bitcoin discussion and economic board because most people still do not know the clear difference between the two boards.

I'm working on a plan that will drastically reduce spam posting without having to ban a single member or delete a single post. The purpose of this thread is to get a general idea of which sections the community feels have the most spam posts. This information will be used to guide my work. I have no idea if my plan will be accepted or even considered, but there's still work to be done before I submit it to higher ups.

What ever plans you will be using remember that trying to implement it on all the discovered sections all at once may be difficult to achieve a smooth good result, so you will take it bit by bit, from cleaning one section to the other until all is achieved. If the plan is good and realistic, it will surely be accepted, I believe the forum management will love to eradicate spam posting with a good and realistic plan or idea.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about the serious discussion board From what I have noticed its more like a glorified off topic board. I believe it has potential to have valid beautiful Discussions without been plagued by ads. This was my first expectation when ever I saw the board.
Another is Bitcoin discussion board, it's literally among the face of the forum and I believe speaks volume on how people would rate the level of discussion over here. Economics/Speculation usually amazes people sometimes on the discussion over there.

Hey all, as the title says I'm doing a poll to find out which sections or boards of the forum you think need to be cleaned up the most. You can vote for up to 5 options. If you think everything about the forum is good and it doesn't need a cleanup, you can select "None." If there's a section I missed, please check "Other" and then mention which one in a reply.
Please take a moment to vote as your opinion matters. Thanks!
What exactly would this cleanup involve? Locking the topic, moving it to an archive, deleting it or something else? Gambling discussion will almost certainly receive the most votes, but I am curious about how this will actually be carried out... Will it target topics with no activity in the last "X" days, topics that are already locked or whose original posters are inactive or banned? Whatever criteria are chosen, there will always be some worthless topics that escape of the cleanup. In other hands, there will also be threads that were once interesting and may still contain useful information that end up being "cleaned" as well. In any case, regardless of the criteria, I do think this cleanup is necessary. But beyond that, would not it be interesting to implement some kind of "temperature" indicator for each thread, based on factors such as the number of merits received, the number of replies over a certain period of time, or something similar? As a thread gradually cools down, it could be locked automatically, and if it is no longer being viewed at all, perhaps it could even be moved to an archive.

I personally think it might be important to keep the "Announcements (Altcoins)" board more clean and controlled. Because there are often new threads opening there with fake ANNs, suspicious projects, malicious wallet links. And by downloading all those wallets, some people are losing their personal information or putting themselves at risk. Even the "Meta" board seems like a garbage dump lately. Some people are doing scams or suspicious activities and are explaining their own account problems on the "Meta" board. Which seems completely illogical to me. I don't know if I'm saying something wrong, but I'm saying what I think. My opinion may not agree with everyone.

I could have chosen all of those sections, but Bitcoin Discussion was the single one I went with because IMO it should be the most important section out of every one on the forum, but it's consistently been one of the most polluted with garbage shitposts made by members trying to earn small amounts of sats whilst doing huge amounts of harm.
But this has been discussed for years now, no? We could talk about it for years to come, but unfortunately the only thing the community itself can do is to report shitposts. The rest is up to Theymos as far as how he wants to allocate resources to improve the quality of BD or any section, and he hasn't given any kind of indication as to what his plans might be AFAIK.

If this criteria is used in the process of cleaning the forum I can gladly say it that the purpose of this thread will already be defeated before it began. For what is worth take the speculation board for an example, there are threads that literally meet all your indicators and I do not need to mention them, we do know them in that board, and the comments that are generated in the threads are recurring and boring. Let wait to see what the op has in plan in cleaning those boards that majority members has mentioned, he must have a more better plan.

It seems that this section, especially when it comes to malware distribution, cleans up faster than anyone else. Lafu has organized an excellent hunt for anyone who is trying to harm users in his topic; just like the moderator of the beginner section, he does a very good job of cleaning this section. Today, every newbie who asks a question about how to exist on the forum gets an instant deletion of their topic. The same thing should happen in other sections. Repeating the same thing for the thousandth time makes you yawn, but topics like "buy, buy" or similar topics exist as something that spreads mold throughout the forum, infecting it with such posts and those who start writing the same thing from the first days on the forum.

From my experience reporting such posts, mods usually react very fast, so chances of someone downloading malicious software are imho low. Close and lock the "Investment-based games" section, and then throw away the key.
I'll never understand why it still exists as almost all you can find there are ponzi schemes. Or at least that's how it was last time I checked.

Who posts there? It is not a popular board to post in, any of my posts there is due to the topic moved to that section. Most topics in Economics and Speculations needs to be cleaned, second be Bitcoin discussion.

The only person that needs clean up in this forum is you Nutildah and your co hypocrites The gambling board of course. It’s been that way since I was a newbie probably worse now since majority of the campaigns available on the forum are sponsored by casinos so users who normally do not fancy sports or gambling now have to post in that section to fulfil their signature requirements, hence the many topics about gambling addiction and gambling for fun.
Such an irony You represent a casino with the worst spammers in the gambling section of which you are inclusive and you are here talking about cleaning the gambling section. Don't even try to argue or else I will bring not less than 20 of your shit posts and spams in the gambling section That 1 merit from theymos is most powerful 1 merit, I have ever seen.
I visited your post history and it is full of one line garbage posts, I'm sorry to the company and manager that hired you to represent their signature.

What kind of cleanup are you aspiring for? Is it by topics, replies or the users. Maybe I misunderstood what the work of moderators are but I think cleaning up any section of the forum is left to the moderators and I believe that is the reason why theymos assigned moderators to each section of the forum. Our job is to make reports to the moderators for them to handle it.

I go with you on Bitcoin Discussion board. Most people are saying the gambling section but they forgot the section that brought us here together. Each time I visit the Bitcoin Discussion board, it's always littered with low value posts from newbies, it wasn't like that when I was a newbie but I wonder what went wrong.
