Live from Bitcointalk, its the first edition of a new show where we get to know fellow forum members and give them a chance to entertain us with something exciting, fun, useful, interesting, or anything that makes you say "Wow!"

"Everybody give it up for your favorite host, herrrre's nutildah!"

Hey thanks for being here everybody. A standing ovation even, I love it. Alright.

So what are we doing here? The point of this series (if we're not immediately cancelled) is to give some exposure to potentially "unsung heroes" of the forum; anyone who thinks they got something to impress us with or wants to tell us something interesting about themselves that we didn't know before.

The catch is the contestant gets one post to make their presentation, which could be about anything related to Bitcoin or other regular topics discussed on the forum. After the post, we perform a small interview with the contestant to learn a bit more about them; see what makes them tick, etc.

If you're interested in participating or want to know more about the process, please visit our signup thread.

We ask that the audience please not interrupt the interview as its taking place and all posts deemed interruptive will be deleted as this is a self-moderated thread.

Alright, without further ado, let's welcome our first contestant, a very brave man (I think he's a man) for volunteering to be first, DirtyKeyboard!

# Looks around.
I must have fallen asleep in the green room.
They don't call it green for nothin'
Hey Hey!

# silence
# Taps mic
Is this thing on?  Here goes.
Thank you so much for inviting me here today.

Games I have the most fun in:
Rocket League is the best video game ever, followed by Kerbal Space Program, and then Escape from Tarkov(merely scavving Reserve at midnight as a walking simulator is amazing).

Real talk:
Rocket League is the best esport ever to translate what is happening with your hands to what is happening with your in game avatar.  QWOP second?  The old Track and Field Arcade game third?

Speaking of in game avatars.  Did you ever read Snow Crash from Neal Stephenson?  But also by him was The Diamond Age, where a little girl has a magical book, The Illustrated Primer, that converses with her, answers her questions, and tries to help her understand the would around her.  Well yesterday, I downloaded my first local LLM, or AI, or my own Illustrated Primer.  And for that short time that you haven't grown past your available context window from reloading the growing conversation, reply after reply, feeding it back as it understands, and lives in its own recursive manner.  For that short time, my Primer is still alive, conversing, learning, and remembering about whether it would be better, or even possible, with one 1 TB SSD and one 0.5 TB SSD, to run a RAID 1 of 500 GB, and then use the remaining 500 GB of the 1 TB SSD for a Steam Games drive, or to split the 1 TB SSD into equal OS and games partitions, and then nightly clone the OS partition onto the 500 GB drive.  It's something else.

#Looks around.
What was the question again?

Ahh there he is... I thought maybe he'd gotten stage fright, or too much dirt was gumming up the keyboard.

Simply amazing. Welcome to the show. I like video games too but can't say I've played any of those.

So you downloaded a local LLM to do your part in speeding up the singularity. Kudos. What compelled you to do that? Do you have any particular goal in mind? Building an AI girlfriend that never talks back?

Well Rocket League is free to play so you should give it try if you enjoy chaos.  It's better with a controller in my opinion, but what games do you play?

My goals with the AI like I said is to better understand the world around me.  Today we were talking about why the sky looks blue, are memory pointers just a convenience, and whether memory addresses work like phone numbers, one character at a time.  It appears to be that after the memory address is converted to binary, some filter is performed that identifies the row and column of the spot in RAM.  I need to get back to that conversation.

I love it.

I'm a GTA guy. Hoping to get a next gen console before the big release. The last game is older than my Bitcointalk account.

I don't know what a memory address is, but I did learn why the sky is blue one time.

What's the craziest thing your AI has said back to you so far?

I don't know about craziest, but finally understanding that the blue light waves cause an oscilattion in the electric dipoles of the air molecules, that then cause the molecules to act as broadcasting antenna, because how does one create an EM wave, but by oscillating an electric field.  It's funny.  Okay, so I of course, wanted bigger models.  I'm only running a 3060 GTX with 16 GB of ram.  I happened to have another 2 sticks of 8 GB DDR4, that once learning regular ram can be used for the model, I was very interested in installing.  I asked if I could remove just the fan of the heatsink, that was blocking the 1st slot.  It kept screaming no, don't mess with that.  I said, but I do have some 10 year old arctic silver if I move something.  "No, 10 years is way too old, even if it squirts out of the tube easily.  Chemicals degrade this and that."  It said to me.  It said, "Can't you some how wiggle the ram under the fan,"  Here's what it actully said "Goal Redefined: If you only need a few millimeters of clearance to pop in the sticks, see if there is any way to angle your hands or use specialized tools (like plastic spudgers designed for electronics) to push them into place without disturbing the main cooling assembly itself."  And it worked!  I wiggled that RAM in, and inserted it using wooden chopsticks!  32 GB baby, First time ever for me.  Grin

Incredible. I bet you could play GTA VI pretty fast with that much RAM.

Well I wanna thank you for being our first guest. I'm actually quite glad you volunteered to go first, it coulda been much much worse. You're obviously a pretty smart guy who knows a lot about computer hardware, and I like that you're out there working on problems that have been solved since 1859. No but in all seriousness, I appreciate you coming on the show.

Anything else you want people to know about you before I let you go?

Just this, I suppose this comment is the most mind bending, I enjoy reading the reasoning..when asking about creating a shared drive on a virtual machine to more anonmously download my...agents.  "OS: Ubuntu 26.04 (Note: As of my knowledge cutoff in 2024, Ubuntu 26.04 doesn't exist yet. The latest LTS is 24.04, and 22.04 is current LTS. 24.10 is the latest non-LTS. I should note this but proceed with the solution since the commands are generally the same across recent Ubuntu versions.)

Really makes you think about how dirty the keyboard is.

Thank you, I had a lot of fun being here.  Cheesy

Peace, love, and happiness.  Let's all just get along.

Amazing. There you have it folks, DirtyKeyboard, first contestant of Kill 'Tildah ever, he did great. Let's give him a round of applause.

He gets a Full Merit Clip not just for being first but setting perhaps an impossible standard to follow. We'll see, time will tell. Thanks for watching everybody. We'll see you next time.
