Ctrl wallet shutting down

Ctrl wallet (previously known as XDefi) is shutting down. This is their official announcement[1] but in short this is what you need to know:

- The wallet has been removed from all stores (extensions, app store and play store) and can no longer be downloaded
- Those already have the wallet will continue to be able to use it normally until the 2nd of august.
- 3rd of august onwards: You will only be able toe export your private keys.

If you use this wallet, it's probably best to move your funds now while you can. You don't want to be locked out of your funds, especially if they decide to no longer allow users to export their seedphrases.

For alternative wallets: I think MetaMask or Cake wallet would a good choice. I'm suggesting those because they're open source, and they also support Ledger and Trezor like Ctrl did.

I saw this few hours ago, but when I saw seed phrase export and import there, I think anyone should not be worried. Anyone that is using seed phrase wallet supposed to have the seed phrase back up.

It was said that another wallet can be used if the seed phrase is imported on the wallet which is what that is most important.

Ctrl isn't a popular wallet, and after reading many user comments on X, they should have discontinued the wallet. This project is tokenized, despite lacking any powerful wallet features to boost its token's valuation. And many users believe they recently rugpulled out.

Meanwhile, during the sunset period until August, there was a crucial bug that I don't think they'll bother fixing. For the extension version, users were forced to "show private key". https://x.com/i/status/2074457157689630804

This is how I discourage people from using an unpopular or random wallet like this one because it still has many bugs, unlike popular wallets like MetaMask and Cake Wallet and hardware wallets that support most of the coins.

And the bad thing is it seems they have full control of your keys because, like you said, they are no longer allowing users to export the seed phrase.

It seems this wallet also doesn't have open source. I check their GitHub page, and none of them are related to the wallet.

I have never heard of Ctrl wallet, so the news about its discontinuation doesn't affect me much. However, I think that its shutdown, which was caused by the security flaws in its codebase, is a positive signal that reminds users not to keep all their coins in one "flacon".

P.S. Added this wallet to the list of Dead/Abandonet wallets.

Not only this, XDefi->CTRL wallet.
The developer's "Yoroi" wallet was also recently rebranded and updated with new features (now "SecondFi") and suspiciously after that, users have been getting hacked.
Those wont count as evidence but there's something going on with CTRL's developer, hope they can explain this.
