Merit is no more for quality posts?

I get surprised when lower rank members are being scolded and tagged for merit abuse but when it comes to some so called reputable and high rank members, you all go mute and act as if you are blind.

I saw a thread by Nutildah, they have locked the thread now but tell me what DirtyKeyboard said here that deserves 50 merits and that was not enough, DirtyKeyboard returned the Smerits back to Nutildah in a garbage post they made in the WO thread.

Such a bias forum full of gangs and sentimental people, bunch of hypocrites.

This forum is about growing a thick skin first by making yourself relevant. If you are relevant, no one cares if you post just a single word and get many merits on it.

Merit was created to stop spam, obviously Nutildah is not spamming.

OP is saying these truths, there is no point in saying this, because this forum is their father's property. It is clear that merit is being distributed equally among themselves. @DirtyKeyboard has not sent more than 1 merit to anyone in the last 120 days. However, @nutildah's irrelevant WO spam has sent 25 merits, it is clear that it is only to repay the loan of 50 merits given by @nutildah. Haha, I will see how impartial this forum is today. I said, those who consider the forum as their father's property, have become DT and have taken the responsibility of judging others, they need to fix themselves first. Finally, I will say that after the evidence that OP has given, I don't think anything else will be logical. Even then, they will freely roam the forum from tomorrow because the forum is their father's property, so there is no one to judge them. All these useless forums and forum people.

That's also why many of us don't criticize how merits are distributed on WO. The regulars there are a special case—most have been on the forum for over a decade, are early adopters, and don't wear a paid signature. They view merits as just another part of the fun there.

Those of you who criticize this "exchange" of merits will have a hard time comparing this to merit farmers who send merits to their alts to rank up and have lots of accounts with which to monetize the junk they clutter the forum with.

Sending Merit is subjective, nutildah is welcome to send Merit to anybody he likes in whatever quantity he desires.
I don’t know why OP cares any way, there are plentiful Merit Sources on the forum, if he makes good, constructive posts from his main account, eventually he’ll get the acknowledgement he desires in the form of Merit.

OP you need to understand that merit distribution is not moderated in this forum, anyone can decide to send merit to any post he feels has the quality he wants, the 2 members you mentioned are not even a merit source, so I see no point in looking at how quality the posts they are meriting is.
As long as merit distributions are not moderated by the Admin or moderators anyone can send any amount of merit to any post.

The problem is that it "hurts" those who are still new or somewhere in the middle of the journey, who need merits and work hard to write quality posts in the hope of receiving 5 or 10 merits from a single person!
For those people, it is frustrating to see others receive 50 merits with very little effort, even if it is just for fun or without any real benefit in terms of building a reputation or joining a signature campaign.

It is like Bitcoin! For ordinary people, 0.001 BTC is a lot, but for those who have been around here for more than 10 years, that is what they might spend on an hour of gambling without thinking twice.
Anyway, the merit system was created precisely to prevent accounts from ranking up too easily. For those who are already at the top, that purpose becomes somewhat distorted. Perhaps there should not even be merit distributions for users who are already Legendary!?

@Revolution2025, build a reputation here and you will get hundreds of merits as well.

There are tons of ways to get merits around here... Just find what fits you best

There is no point in discussing the distribution of merits because it is subjective and not subject to any strict forum rules but depends on the personal decisions of each forum member.
The only thing that is prohibited is the sale of merits.
We can have our own opinion about whether a post deserves merit or not, but we can't change anything about it.
Each of us is different, has different interests and different reasons why we do something.
The definition of a ''quality post'' is obviously different for each of us and it is clear that there is no definition that everyone would accept.
Such discussions only make sense if someone has evidence of a violation of the forum rules, i.e. if they can prove that merits have been sold.

The "value" of a post is a subjective matter, determined by each user individually. I'm sometimes surprised that some posts even receive merit, but that's the reality of the forum.

More tears from a newbie? If you're not happy with the forum atmosphere, no one is forcing you to stay. Everyone wants to come here and thinks the forum should adapt to them. That doesn't happen. Here, you either adapt or complain.

So why was it necessary to award these 50 merits to a user who "there's nothing left to prove"? Wouldn't it be more beneficial to award these merits to those who haven't yet reached Legendary rank (and spare the forum from more newbie whining )? After all, merits are a mandatory requirement for advancing ranks, so awarding merits (especially in large quantities) to those who no longer need ranks is a waste. Imho.

No. There should be. 1k, 11k, 22k — this reflects the quality of user. You don't discard your only reputation measure like that.

As a matter of fact, I encourage everybody reading this who is in need of some merits to sign up. It just happened that the first person to sign up was a Legendary, and he pretty much blew my socks off. Such a weird phrase to type out. But that's what happened, and that's why I gave him 50 merits.

The idea was born out of intentions to help the community.

From the beginning I joined forum is not prohibited to award a merit to anyone you found it's post worthy to be merited, but the thing is that reputation matters, they're people that will award a merit to some users you will notice that they did it genuinely because of meaning and impacts they found in the post...so we shall not judge people who award merit to a user wrongly everytime

Before we only see a quality posters earning a merit, but now posts that's worthless in meaning and less understanding are the one earning a merit "so their's a lot of changes in awarding merit which is not noticeable by the forum  staffs " when I joined the forum newly, merit is been earn based on how educative and meaningful is the post, but now I see people earning huge merit from a post that's not understandable and less meaningful..That's to show that the system have totally changed..

It would've been biased if participation was limited to a certain group of people (e.g., Hero and Legendary members only), but anyone is eligible to join. Why don't you try to participate with your main account? You sound salty, but I'm pretty sure you won't be complaining if you're the one who received the 50 merits. Doesn't that make you a hypocrite as well?

Sometimes a little humor is what keeps discussions on the forum lively and that is basically what i see in nutildah's thread there's a big difference in what he did and what you are referencing it to. You made mention of newbies being scolded for merit abuse and that is because most are actual abuses.

Most of them create multiple accounts and try to exchange merits across them and that is actual merit abuse. i think the topic of quality posts is over discussed and it still seems a lot like people are actually still very bad at the actual meaning. quality post doesn't mean it must be related to bitcoin technicals infact it can be related to it and be a low quality spam.

OP people would have actually taken your accusation serious if the two members you mentioned had a bad reputation of cheating or connected accounts before, since they have no such thing no body will take your accusation serious, I have seen people being dragged in this forum for what this 2 members you mentioned did but the reason they were dragged was because they already have a bad reputation of cheating or connected accounts, for example this case https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5586104.msg66849095#msg66849095.
If nutildah has been caught and tagged for account connection or cheating with multiple accounts before believe me people would have actually seen what you said as the truth and nothing but the truth, but since is not that way no one will take you serious, that’s why having good reputation and a clean account is actually very important.
