I’m not talking about creating an official curriculum or deciding what people are allowed to learn.
Bitcoin has no central authority, so that wouldn’t even make sense. What I mean is a community-driven roadmap.
If someone walked into this forum today knowing absolutely nothing about Bitcoin, what should they learn first?

Should it be:
* why Bitcoin was created?
* how wallets work?
* private keys?
* self-custody?
* transaction fees?
* the economics behind Bitcoin?

Or something else entirely?

Right now, beginners often receive advice based on the experience of the person replying rather than on where the beginner actually is. Someone who’s been using Bitcoin for ten years naturally thinks topics like UTXOs, multisig, privacy, or running a node are important.

And they are. But are they the right starting point?

Sometimes I wonder whether we’re accidentally making Bitcoin look more difficult than it needs to be simply because we expect newcomers to absorb years of accumulated knowledge in a very short time.

Education isn’t only about what you teach. It’s also about when you teach it.

Universities don’t start mathematics students with advanced calculus.

Driving instructors don’t begin by explaining how an engine is built.

The order matters.

Should Bitcoin education be any different?

Maybe the lack of a shared learning path isn’t a problem at all. After all, Bitcoin is decentralized, and people have different goals.

Some want to invest.

Some want to use it for payments.

Some care mostly about privacy.

Others are interested in the technology.

Perhaps there shouldn’t be a single path.

Still, I can’t help wondering whether we’d lower the barrier for newcomers if the community agreed on a set of fundamentals before introducing more advanced topics.

If I had to actually teach, I'll start with this:

The purpose of BTC: so many people coming into BTC do not know the real purpose of the technology. They all treat it as one of those financial assets that you can trade on or invest in to make money. Yes BTC is all that but also more, they will know this by getting introduced to bitcoin white paper.

After this, the usual will follow which includes: how to buy, sell and store (wallets and their different types) BTC, security, BTC jargons/terminologies, bear and bull season, mechanism of BTC (supply mechanism, halving, deflationary characteristics of btc, nodes, mining etc). I feel this covers a lot about BTC basic.

Easy learning guide for someone new joining the forum, first go through the Bitcoin Whitepaper, that is the roadmap or curriculum for learning about Bitcoin.

The focus isn't what to learn first, It's about knowing all the basics, and then specifying on what you want, trading or investing.

Ofcourse, most beginners would want the basic idea of what Bitcoin is and how it's used, rather than the technicality, so we will start with:
— What Bitcoin actually is
— About Wallet
— About address and "private keys"
— Where to buy/sell
— General security tips

Then we move to the fundamentals or what makes Bitcoin different from similar tech:

— It's Decentralized
— It's Resistant to Censorship
— it's Privacy friendly, and can be used anonymously
— It can be used without Permission
— Activities are Transparent
— You control your money
—  The money supply is deflationary
Etc



Since it's decentralized, an acceptable way to create suitable Learning Guide would be community driven approach. Everyone is free to create beginners friendly guide, which others can contribute to and scrutinize for issues. The ones with little to no issue become the suitable learning guide that could be recommended to beginners

Since Bitcoin systems has evolved over the years, teaching old methods to newbies would only get them more confused, but when we consider and start teaching from the context to orientation and the basic safety tips to keep to heart, it becomes an easy course of study.

We can start by iterating the problem that Bitcoin solves today and that is why it is an alternative to traditional banking.
Next is to let them know that control of private seed phrases is what determines true ownership and that's summarized by the statement, 'not your keys, not your coins'.

Another part should include how to send, receive and the fees involved because this creates a lot of panic for newbies who are sceptical about how moving their funds is a safe practice.
The economics of volatility and a time frame in mind is important when they think of investment in Bitcoin for a duration, while always bearing in mind the logic of trusting the math and network, instead of a third party or CEX to handle their investment and transactions.

I can say that nowadays, with AI, you can find virtually any information you need, often with links to video tutorials as well.People don't usually join a Bitcoin forum without having at least some basic knowledge about bitcoin. All the information about bitcoin and everything related to it is already freely available. On the forum itself, you can ask questions, get recommendations for useful services, read market analysis, and use different opinions to develop your own strategy. We're living in a time when there's an overwhelming amount of information available. Because of that, I don't think one more good course would change much. If someone is genuinely interested, they'll find all the information they need. There are already plenty of resources available, both paid and completely free.

 You can't learn everything at ones so first you know your purpose of wanting Bitcoin then learn the basics, most of us here knew it all but when we join this forum we understood it gradually and still on the learn process in some technical aspect of Bitcoin, i don't expect that a newbie would to know it all instead of gradually understanding the process.
 Well there are several threads in this space where newbies can comfortably learn about Bitcoin, it's not something that's very complicated or tough to comprehend.

From another pov that could create another barrier instead. Anyway I'm on the camp that making curriculum and whatnot makes no sense for a community sources. If people can define their question they'll easily find articles explaining stuff for them. For example, question like what problem does a PoW or block solve will eventually comes up if they continue reading Bitcoin. If their interest stop at how to pick the best wallet then it's very likely they won't be interested on learning the match calculation anyway.

Understanding Bitcoin can be as simple or complicated as anyone wants it to be, and there are some
people who are just not technicaly literate when i comes to computing.

There are definitely resources online outside BCT geared to educating people about Bitcoin. I might be
an idea to have a pinned thread in the Beginners & Help board with a list of providers.
