I think one sign of personal growth is being able to admit you were wrong about something. We all hold opinions that feel certain at one point but experience, new information, likewise simply getting older can change the way we see things.

For me, changing my mind doesn’t mean I was weak, it means I was willing to learn instead of staying attached to an idea just because I’d defended it before.

What’s one opinion you’ve completely changed your mind about and what made you change it?

P.S: I think one sign of personal growth is being willing to admit you were wrong about something.

I used to think it was dumb to spend money on military power.  Why not use that money to help the people who want to hurt you?  So they don't want to hurt you anymore.  I think I see now, that if you give someone one thing, they naturally move on to also wanting the next of your things.  It just how orginisms thrive.  I believe now that self defense is necessary whether at a personal or societal level.
I do dream of the day when, as a whole planet, we can build together a defensive force ready to handle incoming threats, maybe alien species, probably meteors and asteroids and things.  Those things cost money though, but I think that is money well spent.  It joins people mentally, physically, emotionally.  A common purpose.  This is nothing new, only something this libby lib dib realizes I was wrong about.  *spoilers* I really enjoy the scene in Avengers where Iron Man feeds the alien ship a nuclear missile, love it.
Thank you for prompting me to share OP.  ☮︎

That’s a good one and it’s interesting how our views can change as we gain more experience and see different sides of an issue.

The idea of humanity eventually working together against common external threat is an optimistic one. Hopefully  we learn to cooperate more before  we are forced to.

I have completely changed my mind about humans. In the past, I assumed that humans were somewhat intelligent creatures. I now know that most humans are fucked up pieces of shit. Humans are evil too.

I’m curious, do you think it was a few specific experiences that led you to that conclusion or was it something that developed overtime? Personally I’ve met people who can make you lose faith in humanity but I’ve also met others who completely restore it.

That’s one reason I don’t find it easy to judge people as a whole.

Well, when nearly every interaction I have with humans convinces me more and more that humans are all a bunch of fucked up pieces of shit, I lose hope in humanity. I have not met any of those people who can help me restore my faith in humanity.
