There isn't a single true answer to this, if there was, then we would all start a token and be great at it. It doesn't have a great answer to it because we can't really do the same thing over and over again and have multiple great projects.

Remember, there is also a situation where if a creator does a good job about making themselves rich, but nobody else rich, that project is a bad project, and yet the owners try to do the same for some reason. That's the problem in the crypto world, everyone only thinks of themselves and their own pockets.

There may be no single formula for sustainability, but there are clear principles. A project designed mainly to enrich its creator is not sustainable—it is extractive. Long-term systems require alignment, where founders, participants, liquidity, and the wider ecosystem benefit from the same progress.

This is part of what we are trying to build with KORVANE: fixed supply, long-term founder vesting, permanent liquidity, treasury development, and gradual reinforcement. None of these guarantees success, but they reduce short-term extraction and align the project around building lasting value.

The Architect

Project are a relevant to the extent of the service their provides, which I essential for the growth and consistency in the market.

The altcoins market have been flooded with alot of projects that are just build on hypes rather than providing service, because hat push liquidity for a project I think utility of that project and ability to keep an active ecosystem determined to push the value forward.
This market is not meant for all investors and non experienced investors can lose money when don't understand anything on how price is going up and down. Altcoins are based on pump and dump and that is what has been keeping the market in steady up and down in prices. Hold your altcoins with sense and you should know when to sell and when to dispose your coins before the bear market will crash everything.

What actually makes a crypto project sustainable?

Is sustainability possible without real revenue?

It cannot, and it will not; revenue and financial capability are very important in any project. Development can only come if there is a flow of revenue, which is why a coin or token from the start launches an ICO for the development of the project; we have seen this on many coins or tokens that have launched a successful coin offering, but of course, finances are just part of the development and sustainability of a project; the team also plays a crucial role.

Thread is 2 page now with over 20 replies. With that, I am sure that there is that correct reply or correct answer to the OP's question. The correct answer may not only be single though but there can be multiplies of them, unless if on a single reply, all correct answers were already enumerated. On our age now, it is now a piece of cake to create a token but this is only a simple one.

It is a different story anymore, creating a token with a very good long-term potential. Not all people are able to do that, as it was hard but it is also worthy ones they do so. Which is why market is full of crap projects. Projects only created for the sake of proving they are able to do it. Poor them.

I must agree with you, the correct answer may not only be a single one.

What's actually hard is building something people still need after the excitement dies down. Most projects out there were never really trying to do that. They were built just to prove it could be done — to say "look, this got launched." And once that's proven, there's nothing left underneath it. That's why the market is full of what it's full of. It's a little sad, honestly, when you think about it: all that effort spent proving a point instead of building something real.

The real accomplishment was never just the financial side. Money matters, no denying that — it keeps the lights on, it's a form of utility in itself, and it's fair to call it part of the win. But it was never meant to be the finish line. What actually deserves the credit is the value created, the help given to people who had nothing to do with building it, the benefit that's still there long after anyone stopped paying attention.

That's the difference between a project and a stunt. A stunt ends the moment the point is proven. A project keeps going because it's still doing something worth doing.

Best Regards,

The Architect.

What actually makes a crypto project sustainable?

Just a real discussion about what survives and what does not.

Not all is lost for a project as long as the developers keep up with development and complete the roadmap; a project can change direction or adapt to current conditions to sustain itself.

Projects lose their sustainability when the developers give up or neglect the development and completeness of the roadmap. So whatever features they implement, it will sustain itself as long as the developers are there to work on the project to reach the top of the crypto standing

It would seem that these could make a crypto project sustainable- continued development and support, community, real utility, good tokenomics, and revenue/funds.  If one of these is missing, then you're looking at a project destined to fail.

So basically the sustainability of a project relies mainly on the developers and their core reason for launching it into the crypto market, if their intent is to scam unsuspecting investors they will hype it from the beginning and as soon as investors pump in a lot of funds they will liquidate and the project would die. But if the developers actually have a plan for the project to succeed they will find utilities for it and that is what would sustain it. So dev. team is important while navigating to invest in a sustainable project because there are more scam projects than you will care to count. Aside from Bitcoin which has always been self sustaining investors should thread with caution when it comes to altcoins, DYOR and invest with amount that you can easily give away.
