This is pretty shamefull but i think that Hajduk Split cannot be punished for what they done outside of the stadium so i think Hajduk Split with get away with it. Those people that got arrested will surely be punished with couple of years of jail time. Still didnt expect they would do this to a club they played so long ago.

The 1st round of the league phase is now concluded. Out of 18 games played, only 4 resulted in draws, and just like in the sister tournament, the Europa League, all were 1-1 draws.
The most decisive win was Brighton defeating Kauno Zalgiris 4-0, which puts them in the top spot in the table.
I don't think there were any major surprises. Most of the higher-rated favourites won their games. Maybe except for Ajax, who suffered an away defeat to Croatian Hajduk Split (2-1), which can be considered as a bit of an unexpected result.

Yes, out of all the favorite teams in their first match of the league phase, only Ajax surprised us because basically Ajax was highly favored before the match started and probably a lot of bettors lost in this game, including me.

Hajduk Split really didn’t waste their chance as the home team; they played very aggressively from the start of the match and even managed to take a 1-0 lead in the first half. Although Ajax scored a goal in the second half to make it 1-1, the score didn’t last long because a mistake in Ajax backline was taken advantage of by Hajduk Split players in the 55th minute to score and that goal even became the deciding factor for Hajduk Split’s victory.

For Ajax, of course this loss is really painful because they dominated the match, but mistakes in the backline made them fail to secure a win. On top of that, in the next match Ajax will face Atalanta who convincingly beat Pafos FC. This will be a test for Ajax where they need a win to improve their standings.

(...) I don't know how someone who works against their own club can even call themselves a fan. Embarrassing your club and country in this way is something worrying that needs to be taken seriously.

Eastern Europeans are not yet as neutered as the "new-male" low-T fans from the so-called West. For them, a club primarily means fans, not some incorporated entity or even players. They would see a game as an opportunity to show camaraderie and dominance over fans of a rival team. They often don't care at all about the score; it's of secondary importance. That's a different approach than just "buy merch, buy tickets, buy beer and snacks, clap and f**ck off home".
I'm not sure what exactly happened in the 75th minute when the game was paused, but the clips I've seen are pretty standard for what you would normally see in Eastern Europe. They might have overdone it with the smoke, but respect for pulling off such big choreography. You can't do it with unorganised fans.

I'm the same as you—I'm a fan of a different club, but I always root for any Croatian club in Europe. We are a small country and qualifying for Europe is a challenge (except for Dinamo Zagreb, they are always in Europe). Honestly, I know that Ajax has not been playing that well in recent years, but Hajduk was superb yesterday and needs to be praised no matter what. The only thing that was shameful in that game was the pyrotechnics and the game delay. But as I mentioned earlier, it isn't much of a surprise.
You have quite different opinion than most of Hajduk and Dinamo fans Cheesy. But yeah, impressive way to return to Europe, beating such historical club like Ajax
About Brighton - Kauo Zalgiris game, I was right about the outcome and game looked exactly like I expected. Zalgiris had no other choices than parking a bus.

What about the events before the game?

Hajduk Split could be severely punished for the iconography and chanting of fans, many of whom have been arrested and may receive up to three years in prison. I don't know how someone who works against their own club can even call themselves a fan. Embarrassing your club and country in this way is something worrying that needs to be taken seriously.
Torcida is known for being one of most brutal and wild fan groups in Europe. So, such performance didn't surprised me, just not sure what Ajax have to do with it as they're not jews or something. But historically Torcida have doe much worse things, I don't believe that someone is going to be prisoned for this.

You obviously missed the fact that the biggest hooligans from Ajax are called Super Jews. Before World War II, Amsterdam was called Western Jerusalem, and there were about 80 000 of them in that city - they were known as big Ajax fans. Considering what Israel recently did in Gaza, it is not difficult to conclude what was the reason for all that was happening.

Nevertheless, such primitivism should be condemned in the strongest terms, all those who participated in it should be condemned and sent to prison, and they should be banned for life from access to sports facilities.

Sentences for such acts range from three to five years, and arrests are still ongoing - the question is what the judiciary will do.

I've been listening to our politicians (and general public) expressing surprise at the scenes that took place on Thursday, while at the same time we still have streets named after Mile Budak. It would be like Germany having streets named after Goebbels and then being surprised that German Ultras fans are chanting crap when playing against clubs like Ajax/Tottenham or any that has connections with Jewish community.  Roll Eyes

True. I am Dinamo fan but unlike him, I want Hajduk to lose no matter who they play against. Well, almost. There are few exceptions and Ajax is not among them.  Wink

Having said that, Hajduk outplayed Ajax the other day and it was one of their their best game in the last ~30 years. It sucks that focus is on the crap that happened before the game rather than their performance on the pitch.

You're right - I had no idea that Ajax fans is called Super Jews. When you know whole context, it explains a lot.
No way that I'm justifying what Torcida did, but when you look deeper into ideologies of some fan groups, I don't know how adequate person can asociate himself with them. From nazi Lazio ultras tu far left St. Pauli supporters. Or supportig war criminals like Ratko Mladic as we discussed in other topic. There is lot of not acceptable things from ultras world in normal society.

There is some truth in that, although it should be said that we also have countless streets named after prominent partisans who committed terrible crimes against Croats after World War II. Between 400 000 and 500 000 NDH soldiers and civilians were brutally killed in just a few months after the end of the war, and the symbols and politics that did this are still present in our society as something positive.

Even worse than the streets is the fact that a good number of so-called Croats go to Kumrovec every year to pay their respects to Tito, whose crimes are equal to Hitler, Stalin or any other dictator.

Sport should not be a place for any kind of politics, but until such things are severely punished, nothing will change.

Trabzonspor secured an easy victory. Mo Salah was substituted early, with an eye toward the match against Beşiktaş this weekend. Onuachu sustained an injury and was replaced by Dju early in the game and Dju went on to star in the match, scoring two goals. They faced one of the weaker opponents in the Conference League and won without any difficulty. Now, it is time to return to Turkey. I believe they are capable of winning their upcoming matches as well next week, they will face Hearts in their second Conference League fixture.

It was an expected win for Trabzonspor. As you said they won comfortably. KuPS Kuopio are a much weaker team than Trabzonspor but Trabzonspor didn't underestimate their opponents and won with a serious performance.
As you said, Salah was taken off early in the Beşiktaş match because the league game is also very important for Trabzonspor.

It's good that the team continues to score goals even without Salah; it was a very productive match for Trabzonspor. We saw the strength of the players in the team, and they will be able to continue winning matches against teams that are not very strong in Europe. The opponent's weakness was an advantage for them. The Beşiktaş match is also very important for Trabzonspor, and they would have struggled if they were too tired in that match. Playing another tough match after 3 days is difficult for small clubs like Trabzonspor, as the players' fitness levels are insufficient
Trabzonspor club and Galatasaray club has been my favorite teams as far as Turkish league is concerned and even since i have been following the both teams, they have been be doing well in there league, so seeing Trabzonspor doing well in this UEFA conference league is what is expected from the players, even when Salah is not present in any of their matches, and with the way Trabzonspor is going about in this season, it is very obvious that they take every matches very important and playing with Besiktas club on the 19th of October is what they are looking at to deal with.

Trabzonspor have a Conference League match tonight against Hearts. Since you support them, a win is what you are waiting for. Galatasaray won their Champions League game against LOSC.

Two clubs I support in the Turkish league are Galatasaray and Besiktas. I'm supporting Galatasaray because of my African brother, Osimhen. For Besiktas, I love the club and the players.

This is pretty shamefull but i think that Hajduk Split cannot be punished for what they done outside of the stadium so i think Hajduk Split with get away with it. Those people that got arrested will surely be punished with couple of years of jail time. Still didnt expect they would do this to a club they played so long ago.

Come on, guys, what is wrong with you? Can't you see that this is all politics, politics gets involved in everything. Absolutely always, but always, the Balkan countries are the ones that get the short end of the stick. And why? Because we play by europe's rules, and it will always be like that. UEFA will live off the fines paid by Croatia, Serbia and others. Now, who said what to whom, who made what chants about whom, that absolutely takes attention away from the reason we are here, which is football. Unfortunately.

Hajduk has received the expected €100,000 fine and a one-game ban from playing in front of an empty stadium. From a possible -3 points to this clown punishment. I'm glad Hajduk won against Ajax, but this is not how you should behave after being away from European football for 16 years. The celebrations should have taken place without any of the nasty stuff. But that's southern Croatia for you, without a brain.

To change the subject, Hajduk played well in the first half against Thun, but I don't like how they've fallen back and tried to defend their lead. It could backfire.

In the Conference League, Trabzonspor did not allow for any surprises on their home, finishing the match against Hearts with a 2-0 victory. I believe Trabzonspor has the potential to advance further in this competition I hope they win all the matches they play. They might face some difficulty in their next game, as they are set to play against Freiburg from Germany. Hopefully, Trabzonspor will avoid defeat and continue their winning streak.

To change the subject, Hajduk played well in the first half against Thun, but I don't like how they've fallen back and tried to defend their lead. It could backfire.

Hajduk finally played a real, great European away game and achieved their first away win, in the group stage of a European club competition, after 32 years.
This is a completely different hajduk compared to previous seasons, they play as a team, and no longer depend on 1 player, LIvaja, as before.
In the first half, they were excellent and completely outplayed Thun and should have led by a bigger margin.
In the second half, it seems to me, they ran out of strength and Thun put a lot of pressure on them, but if Sego had scored a goal from the penalty spot, everything would have been resolved long before the end of the game.

This league is becoming interesting, Egnatia did lose 2 points yesterday in Denmark despite many would consider the draw a surprise result because they played 11 vs 10 since 4th minute of the game. Still their calendar put them at home 2 games against relatively weak opponents like Lincoln Imp Red and Kaunas which I am pretty sure they will have no difficulty winning those games and if I think they will lose next game against Craiova and last one against Braga this should end the group stage with 8 points for them which maybe they can go for first time in history in the play off stage of the competition.

Brighton did start their second team yesterday, but eventually it backfired. Jablonec was able to keep Brighton from scoring till the game end.
That game caused many to lose yesterday. If we think of the result Brighton had against Arsenal in the Premier League and Manchester United in the EFL Cup.
Brighton have never played a game this season without scoring a goal. The shock came as a surprise to see a goalless draw yesterday. Poor result for Brighton regardless of which players started the game.

I must confess that I expected a more balanced outcome in this match:

Monaco 3 - 0 Freiburg

Monaco won this match convincingly. While it is true that they had the home-field advantage, Monaco had not been performing well in their domestic league, and I feared that this poor form in Ligue 1 might negatively impact their performance here. I was wrong; I had considered betting on them before kickoff but decided against it, as I thought Freiburg might have a chance to win. In the end, Freiburg managed only two shots on target far too few despite having more possession. With this defeat, Freiburg now sits in 18th place.

Lincoln Red 1 - 4 Twente

Even playing away from home, Twente secured an easy victory, scoring four goals while conceding only one. They had gone two consecutive matches without a win in the Eredivisie, which made me hesitant to bet on them against Lincoln Red a team I was unfamiliar with, playing in the Gibraltar league, a competition I know nothing about and have never watched. Consequently, I chose not to place a bet. To my surprise, however, Twente won the match comfortably.

It's so strange to see to see Getafe conceding 5 goals at home. And they didn't played against some powerhouse, it was just Lugano. Another strange result is 0:0 between Jablonec and Brighton. Even Arsenal couldn't stop Brighton, but Jablonec somehow managed to do it.

This league is becoming interesting, Egnatia did lose 2 points yesterday in Denmark despite many would consider the draw a surprise result because they played 11 vs 10 since 4th minute of the game. I think you're too optimstic about Egnatia. Yes, Red Imps is one of weakest teams in competition. But Kauno Zalgiris, according to Transfermarkt their squad is more expensive than Egnatia and they also probably see Engatia as team that they can beat. For me it's more or less 50/50.
Didn't saw game with Aarhus, but it's difficult to get better scenario when opponent who is stronger than you on paper get red card so early.

Holding Brighton from scoring doesn't mean they will not win their next game. Brighton are among the top side to compete and win the UEFEA conference league title this season. They're just consistent and we know clearly how they're being able to win games and even in the English premier League, they're very competitive. Brighton goals are vast, they also do score in styles and keep the pressure on.

It could be me, but I think Brighton only drawing with Jablonec was the biggest surprise of the round. Brighton are currently in 3rd place in the Premier League after 7 rounds and they have the highest number of goals scored, over twice as many as Arsenal. So it's a big surprise that they couldn't score a single goal against Jablonec, a 7th-placed team in the Czech league table. I expected them to score at least 3, even playing with a bench squad.
I still see Brighton as one of the biggest favourites of this tournament, and bookies agree. Checking the odds right now and the top 5 favourites are:
Brighton
Monaco
Atalanta
Ajax
Freiburg
