bitcoin rewards both the early adopters and those who are convinced to hold for long. early adopters are in a unique category because we cant go back to 2012 0r 2013. therefore it is left for those of us who were not opportune to be early adopters to join the band wagon and buy bitcoin because it is the future
It is true that bitcoin rewards both the early adopters. but the truth is the reward of those Long term Investors can't be compared with those that only Invested for few years probably 1-2 years, some only Invested for months and start selling thier holdings. Anyone who is Investing in bitcoin with Long term mindset should invest for one complete circle because investing for one complete circle is what qualifies you as a long term Investor and that's the only way you can get a good potential return.

If you had to choose only one, which has historically mattered more in Bitcoin: being early or having conviction? And why?
Actually no investment favours early adopters more than those who believe and held on to the investment. It's not all about being early but how determined you are to invest and forget about the investment. There are those who were just lucky to be early but again they forgot about their Bitcoin and that is why they are as wealthy as they are today and then there are those people that invested then held through all the stormy days and years and they're being rewarded too. What really matters is if you still hodl on to that asset that you bought years ago and that is why it is always advisable to invest into an asset with money that you won't mind forgetting that you put such amount into your investment. There are many early adopters of Bitcoin that sold early and are filled with regrets today, they will do everything possible to go back to those days but that is impossible. Your conviction in an investment should be 100% before you invest and commit into that investment, If not you might just be wasting your time and filled with regrets later if the investment turns out to be successful but you aren't among those benefiting from that investment.

For me, anyone who takes profit can be considered rewarded. Early adopter who are able to sell Bitcoin higher price than their entry price take profit thus is rewarded. Long-term conviction buyer who buys Bitcoin, who stashes it for a long time and sells it, also takes profit, thus is also rewarded. I think the matter here is who benefits the most and not whether they are rewarded or not.
If we talk about who benefited the most, then it is very clear, those who are early adopters that has long term convictions. Nothing beats people who have both early entry and future insight - turning into long-term conviction. So in a scenario that has both long-term conviction... it is the early adopters that were rewarded the most. However, early adopters who easily sell their stash is far from being equal in terms of profit to investors who hodl and wait patiently.

It is a natural thing that any investor who makes the first step reaps rewards. But the longer the investment period one has is, the higher the returns are garnered usually. I also find that patience is better than the haste in a crypto world. Waiting constitutes the art of extracting the most out of owners of digital assets.

For me, conviction indeed has mattered more. I read a lot of posts like they are early adopters but left too early in the market, like sold too early. I even met someone in person recently who also shared his personal experience on Bitcoin; I can consider him an early adopter, as he is earlier than me Being early creates the opportunity, but the conviction determines whether you actually benefit from it. It's tough, especially in market like Bitcoin. Well, its always the high conviction of the investors that matters in the end. The problem is, most of the investors these days are fueled with greed and prefer instant gains, and easily get discouraged and exit the market whenever they start seeing consistent losses due to unfavorable market condition and due to high volatility of bitcoin. It's an advantage that investors get early in the market, but that won't guarantee that they will stay longer and is here for long-term profitability. But those who understand the market well and have seen the future potentials of bitcoin, surely they will invest in bitcoin for long term.

As long as you got profit from your investments, I would say you are already winning. The percent return may vary but at least you are on the positive side. Most have the illusion to be multimillionaire in this market, hence, they have the notion that once they jumped in, they will acquire profits that can save them from financial troubles, but it is not. It still requires work and due diligence to really come up with good profits in this investment. It is not the case of an overnight success. It may be for some, but it is not true to all. So the deception will always be here but they will realize it the soon they got their hands on this market.

It's tough, especially in market like Bitcoin. I agree with this view. Being early gives the opportunity, but conviction decides how much of that opportunity a person can actually keep. Many people had Bitcoin early and still sold too soon, lost access, or used it for small purchases because they did not yet believe it could become what it is today. At the same time, being early should not be ignored. Someone who had both early entry and conviction clearly had the strongest advantage. For newcomers, maybe the more useful lesson is not “I missed being early,” but “can I build enough understanding to hold through volatility without acting emotionally?” Do you think conviction comes mostly from education, experience, or surviving market cycles?

From my personal experience, I believe that it is not "early adoption" that is the most important factor behind Bitcoin's success stories, but rather holding on to the conviction that has historically had the greatest impact on Bitcoin.
Personally, I am one of the people who got Bitcoin early on, but I never imagined at the time that it was possible for it to reach such high prices one day. So when Bitcoin rose, I sold and made some profits that I thought were good at the time, and today I discovered how wrong I was.

Early adopters have taken part of one of the risk and big experiment of history humans. There is no point in focusing too much on the them, because they have certainly risked their time and resources to promote and use Bitcoin. Imagine, if nowadays it appears risky and hard to deal with it, due restrictions and burden to access on legitimate resources... at that time was definetely worst. No exchange, no way to deal easily with FIAT and so on... even few ways to spend it. For sure bitcon is a monetary standard, a new way to deal with wealth. there are many advantages on adopting and the best of these would make the differences not only for western/wealthy countries.

I liked your view. Let me add a different angle to it...
I'm not exactly an early adopter but I've been around since 2014. That's what? 12 years! I've seen so many people come and go. People who complained that "bitcoin is too expensive" when it was only 500 bucks! They thought "early adopters" have gotten their profit and there is no more potential of rising left in bitcoin. Look where we are now.
And in my opinion, that little highlighted word the root of the problem: profit or what you called "reward".
These people think of Bitcoin as a profit machine which they have to invest in and become rich very quickly. But that's not Bitcoin. That is not why it was invented. Bitcoin is a decentralized censorship resistant payment system that was invented to help people reach financial sovereignty. That's what everyone should aim for not the profit. Not the [monetary] reward. The freedom is what they get and there is no price tag on that. And they can get that any time they enter without restrictions or limits. After they change their view, they can then enjoy the monetary gains as price appreciates over long term so much better. Because they won't get scared each time there is a dip to end up panic selling.

A wise man said you have to before investing in any asset/project do your research to have knowledge of where you putting your funds, the knowledge in what you're into is where your conviction to be strong go further ignoring all the noise and fears of uncertainty in the future potential of your investment asset. Being early was an opportunity not everyone had to meet but history has shown that it's not all the early birds in bitcoin that are still holding bitcoin till now. It's one thing to be an early adopter and it's another to be patient and not be inclined to sell off your bitcoin when the price do rise going up a little x times from the bought price. Some of the whales we have now are not all that early adopters but holders who kept a hold on even in the midst of the sell pressures from several bear markets

That’s the clear difference mate, some people were early but left along the line, they were not able to hold for long maybe because they have some doubts about Bitcoin that’s why they sold earlier and couldn’t able to hold for long. Therefore, we can’t call them early investors, they know it early but didn’t trust it to hold for long, and I am very sure they have been regretting their actions anywhere they were now because they missed their early opportunity; although, they still have the chance to buy now at higher price, I hope they can hold for long this time because if they failed again, they will regret letter.

That’s a fair point, and I probably should have made that distinction in the OP. Holding through volatility is one thing, but life can put people in situations where selling isn’t really a choice. If Bitcoin is what pays for a medical emergency or keeps your family afloat, I don’t think anyone should see that as a failure of conviction.
My point was more about the common belief that simply being early guaranteed success. Looking back, it seems many early adopters had access to Bitcoin, but only a fraction ended up benefiting from its full long-term appreciation. Some sold because they lost confidence, while others sold because life demanded it. Those are very different situations
If you see an early adopters of Bitcoin from 2015 to date and has never sold their Bitcoin, they deserve the utmost respect because they are rare. There are some many people that had early access that are still active on this forum but I can tell you that most of them sold out, some chicken out and took profit at $19k, some wall today are inaccessible, some have completely lost the private keys, just few of them have some Bitcoin from those years of brutal market. Anyone who think it's easy hold Bitcoin certainly don't know how it's, I think it's fair to say that today if we consider the bull run of 2020 till now, the market is friendly, the political influence and institutional investors have change the game, perhaps by now we will be talking about pump and dump of the previous years the market was used too couple with the high volatility.

The right statement could be; Bitcoin rewarded early adopters and today, bitcoin is still rewarding long term adopters. We cannot extinguish the fact that early adopters were overly rewarded by bitcoin. Infact, such rewards to the early adopters can never be witnessed again as that time is long past.
Going forward, bitcoin rewards long term hodlers. All we need do is to be patient and not to keep complaining how early adopters took all the reward bitcoin has to offer. In as much as bitcoin continues to exist, it will continue to reward it's sincere adopters.

Actually for me it is not an award but when they are in the early period and remain confident in the choices they make then they will benefit quite significantly now and it will be different with the award.
Everything in bitcoin remains the same in terms of position regardless of old or new we are in bitcoin Everything will look the same where when they can not survive in bitcoin then they will not get anything here. But for those who are in the early period and are still convinced of course they have a greater advantage than those of us who are new to bitcoin but surely this is also worth the risk and our psychology because not necessarily those of us who are new to the Old period as holders will be strong to continue to hold the bitcoin we have.
The difference between being in the old bitcoin period and now is only about the amount of profit made for me although on some occasions this may not be true if they are weak hands.

You didn't read all of OPs post if not you would have understood the point he is trying to make. Being an early adopter does not make you a beneficiary of the rewards that is associated with bitcoin because there were early adopters who sold their bitcoin too quick, thinking that they were in profit level but there were investors that bought and hold till date so you can't compare their own rewards to those who sold in 2012 or 2013. From the price performance of bitcoin throughout the years since its existence, it has been seen that bitcoin rewards more in the long term so if we rely on long-term rewards, it is better than those who sold when the price reached the previous ATH.

The longer the investor holds, the higher the reward doesn't work all the time, but that's the best way to make more profit. There are times when the investment reward can be higher than the previous season compared to current season. Let's take bitcoin value as of last year and this year as example, there is a high chance that the value for next bull will be higher, but we can't neglect the difference between $126k and $64k.

But most of those who come early in the market are those who trusted first with bitcoin, which means they are those that have long term conviction in the market. Newbies that enter the market when bitcoin price has already become significant, they are just here because bitcoin is in trend, not because they have seen the real potentials of bitcoin from the very beginning.
Having long term conviction in the market is the final goal. And not everyone is capable to develop long term because most of the bitcoiners these days when they experience losses, they eventually get rid of the market.

Bitcoin investment needs a long term not a short term, since a long-term will secure your future and goals, short term investors only makes and they only ends up becoming a trader and so we must learn on how to invest with bitcoin and allow it to grow without selling part of it when we lack funds to meet up your financial needs, bitcoin investment is what what you hope and rely on it for survival without reaching it's over accumulation stage before utilization or diversification into whatever you want to.
