First of all, I’m very sorry if this is not the correct section for this topic.

I wish I had at least a little technical background because I feel like I’m learning everything from zero. You cannot learn functions in mathematics without first understanding equations, and before that, you need to know how to multiply and divide numbers. That is exactly how I feel at the moment. Grin

Sometimes I read something about Bitcoin, and it suddenly starts talking about nodes, but I have no idea what a node is. Then I need to stop and learn that first before I can understand the original topic. This takes a lot of time, and sometimes it makes me feel frustrated. I often think that if I had some technical background, I would understand these things much more easily.

For example, I only learned about cold wallets a few months ago. It is a very basic and important concept, but I did not know anything about it. After buying one, it still took me some time to move my sats to the cold wallet because mentally, I was not ready to try it. After I finally did it, I felt very good, by the way.

I’m just wondering whether this is a normal part of the learning process. I’m the kind of person who likes to dig deeper and understand something properly when I become interested in it. However, sometimes Bitcoin becomes too technical for me.

I’m still DCAing every month, by the way. The way I feel does not change my behaviour. I can also see the progress I’m making. It just seems to take me more time compared with other people. I know I’m still new to this, but I often get annoyed with myself.

It's a pretty big subject for all newbies.

Let me give you a simple little talk on this. You really got to get serious not to feel frustrated if you really want to have the kind of knowledge you wishing for. Personal development doesn't just happen in a day or short time. You've got to work on it gradually, the problem with you as I understand from your post is that you just want to know everything in a short while. No you can't, and that why you're frustrated.

Knowledge don't just happen they happen because someone took the time to learn even when it felt frustrated at the beginning. That's just the philosophy behind learning about bitcoin even the technical from a scratch level. Learn and also put into action what you've learnt.
Cultivate time to go through this and reflect on them:

Learning about bitcoin technical aspect is not that difficult if you have a technical background already, just develop more interest in specific area you wanted and get used to some resources that could aid your learning process, this platform is also a good start for you as we have the technical board where you could ask questions and the beginners and help all for your learning.

I will say wrong mindset, even if you have zero background in technical you can still invest in Bitcoin. Unless you want to be a developer or something then obviously you need to have a background. But just think about it, majority here doesn't have that technical knowledge in the beginning.

We did go learn as we go in our journey. So there's no need to be frustrated or something. There are a lot of topics or subjects here in our community with regards to technical or whats not.

You can start from their and work your way to the top. Everyone here started from zero knowledge just like you.

I think their is nothing wrong if someone picks interest in knowing everything about about bitcoin Even as an investor. But when it comes to investing, you don't need to know everything about bitcoin first before you you dive into bitcoin investing, you only need some basic knowledge to do that such as knowing the right wallet to use, the security of your asset, when to buy, and the right time to sell. With these basic ideas you can comfortably invest in bitcoin.
I equally believe that many of us who are bitcoin investors don't have deep knowledge about bitcoin, and it's technicality, but basic knowledge is what keeps us going.

OP if you can figure out that a small part of Bitcoin is called sats then you can learn and understand Bitcoin, I even found Bitcoin to be more easier to understand than learning mathematics, you don't need calculations here, the only number part of Bitcoin is it's max supply.

You are rushing things up, it took me a whole year learning about Bitcoin before I look into nodes, now isn't the time for nodes yet, first learn the basic part of Bitcoin before mining and nodes.

You can't learn it all in a day, even a month is something I called rushed up, take your time with Bitcoin, one step at a time, then you will see how easy it is, some Bitcoin investors don't even know about Bitcoin nodes, they learn how to buy and hold correctly and they feel satisfied.

I certainly understand the feeling and how frustrating it can be, Bitcoin is a concept that needs patience and consistency to learn the basics, hence you are able to grasp one of it, the rest will certainly fall in place, a newbie will certainly feel uncomfortable at first glance. What I was doing in my newbie days was, whenever I come across topics concerning Bitcoin, wether technical or normal Bitcoin conversation, what I normally do is to read the topic and digest it properly, and lots of times I read the comments of those who are well vast in the subject matter, especially here on the forum, this is because you will have to tap from the fountain of knowledge of those who know better than you, that way, you will learn gradually, just like the saying goes, the school Principal was one time a student.

It is all completely common to experience mind tiredness when handling Bitcoin. Self control economic takes opposite to traditional financial mental setup. However, in a lot of aspects, your unwillingness to use user controlled procedures is simply matter of risk management. It is not because you are just incapable. Many times user errors by users result from hurry in which list such things are put in place without absolute mind comfort. When it comes to investing technologically during times of uncertainty, it is more about long term investing, other than having some theoretical knowledge at the time. There is not any replacement understanding. It develops, rather, from thoughtful curiosity rather than from shallow rule-following. Never judge your own time line with unknown participant when they try to communicate classroom world view of "confidence" for real knowledge/understanding of system being designed.

It is normal to have such problems in the beginning. Because the things to learn about Bitcoin are so huge that you have to spend a lot of time to learn them. Now you have to decide why you want to learn about Bitcoin first.  what is your purpose in Bitcoin. If you want to invest in Bitcoin, then you can get a basic idea about Bitcoin, such as how Bitcoin actually works, learn something about blockchain, as well as how Bitcoin provides security and after doing some studies about wallets, you can invest according to your financial situation. And for beginners, following the DCA method to invest in Bitcoin is a very good way. It involves the process of buying regularly from discretionary income. Which can be invested for a long time and increases the chances of profit. There are many more things to know about this topic that are not mandatory to know at the beginning, but you will continue to get an idea about it while investing. And if you want to know the technical section, then if your background study is software related , then you can know deep about blockchain, cryptography, mining, Bitcoin core node, lightning. I myself have very little idea about this.. But you don't have to be a developer to practice learning about Bitcoin node.

Keep going, buddy.

What you're doing is absolutely correct. Your curiosity is a major asset in deepening your understanding. Not all beginners have this mindset, most often overlook the basics and focus on the sweet rewards. While that's not wrong, when you build a mindset like yours, I'm sure Bitcoin will be accepted more quickly.

Frustration is natural because there's a lot of new vocabulary to understand, but that's where the fun lies. Don't feel like you're late or behind others.

Just don't rush things @OP.  At least you have the foundation, you can read and comprehend.  Just take it a step at a time.  Don't do shortcuts.  There are lots of information on the internet, especially in this forum.  Keep on reading, understanding, and never be shy about asking questions, even if it sounds dumb.  After all, verifying and making everything clear is the right path to learning.

Since you are already engaged with Bitcoin investment, I believe it is very important to prioritize learning how to secure your Bitcoin holdings. You can check this article: https://bitcoin.org/en/secure-your-wallet#online

If you are still a baby, then don't eat fried rice first, it is not a suitable food for you. It's important to note that understanding Bitcoin doesn't require you to be a programmer.
Frustration usually arises when you are faced with complicated technical terms, so the best way is to learn Bitcoin from the basic concepts first, then understand the technology behind it gradually.
Don't force yourself to memorize the code because it will make you confused and difficult to understand, it's better to use analogies in everyday life to understand how the Bitcoin network works. For example, Blockchain, think of it like a cash book, Nodes like witnesses or security guards and Mining like a math number guessing competition.

If you want to avoid frustration and make the learning process much easier and more enjoyable, than focus first on why Bitcoin was created before learning how the technology works.

The bitcoin technology is not too technical, it looks like that because you’re actually just starting from scratch and do not have any pre existing knowledge about the programming languages that the technology was developed with, gradually you will get to understand it. One of the reason why your learning process also looks slow is because you’re learning without physical practice like what mining or building any thing, abstract learning is definitely difficult and I can attest to that but you will get there sooner or later.

As accumulation of bitcoin it has nothing entirely to do with bitcoin technicals, I can tell you that many big investors today do not know anything about this technical parts because you don’t need to be tech savvy about the network to actually invest into bitcoin. Just learn the basics and then learn how to protect your bitcoin and that’s enough to be an investor.

Everything is all about learning, and once you started learning and have much interest on it you will understand it more better, Node, you are hearing or you see in the forum not every body who is here knows about Bitcoin node, they're people who have not come across the meaning of node assuming they are not in the forum, Even now, if the total numbers of people in this forum is 1000 is up to 500 members know what node mean. What we do here is safe learning, if you see what you don't know you can decide to learn by yourself by making a research to understand what is all about

For example, I only learned about cold wallets a few months ago. It is a very basic and important concept, but I did not know anything about it. After buying one, it still took me some time to move my sats to the cold wallet because mentally, I was not ready to try it.
Who says it's basic concept? If I'm not wrong, even this day majority of Bitcoin investors don't know anything about cold wallets, and it makes you smarter than majority because you learned about those cold wallets. Bitcoin cold wallets are the safest wallets for any investors because they hold keys, seed phrases of those wallets and those wallets have never been connected to internet. Just keep your DCAying and store your Bitcoin in your cold wallet, you'll have good returns by holding your Bitcoin for long term.

There's nothing to be frustrated about, mate, if you have made up your mind that you want to learn about the technical aspects of Bitcoin, you don't expect that It will just take you one day to know everything, definitely it will take some time and since you are still a newbie, most things will be strange to you but as you continue to learn about it and also master the basic ones first, others will be simple, because you have to go from one step to the other.

To the OP - at least you are willing to actually learn. There are plenty of  people with Bitcoin
who dont know the basics and dont want to know either.

They probably store their coins in centralised exchanges, dont care about anything other than
the charts perhaps.

There are essentials which everyone should know, IMO they are:

Taking full ownership and control of your Bitcoin
How to securely store the seed words
Knowing how to send and receive coins and how fees work
Understand the concept of the 4 year cycle

That's normal, it's the average Bitcoin rabbit hole experience. Most of us started with zero tech background and had to google every second word at the beginning.

Don't stress about it, the answers are coming. If you're already DCAing and self-custodying in a cold wallet, you're ahead of 90% of people in this space. Keep stacking and learning, this forum will help you with any Bitcoin question.

Newbies can start their learning in an easy way, they don't have to force themselves and feel stressed with learning. Do it in comfortable ways is better and as a matter of fact, time flies fast so their learning will be improved and accumulated fast too.

DCA for investment is very good strategy.

That is the learning curve that many people have to go through. Bitcoin is technical and you gotta learn about it.
That's the harsh truth but once you cross that learning curve then things get really interesting.
You have to get the basics cleared first and that is about wallets and keys and how to access and transfer funds.
Once these are cleared you can get into the technical part of bitcoin to learn more about it.
The more you learn, the better your understanding about bitcoin is and the more determination you get to hold longer.
