Greed and fear are the fastest things that can bring one down easily in trading, because without self -discipline one may act carelessly and make mistakes that won't be helpful to their growth which they have broken the right rules that are helping them to aviod dangers and this at times does happen if their mindset divert into making quick money out of it, which will make them to trade with a huge amount that might ruin their lives if they lose. Trading is step- by -step process, one cannot just profits from it without passing some processes and even get to loss at times.

You  are absolutely right mate, that fear is also one of the major factors that can make one get a major loss, people may not not know how fear contributes to that, but I will brake it down. Fear is one thing that puts you in a confused state, and you will remain in that state until you take a bold step that will either make you, or break you. In trading, deciding what to do at a given time is also of the things associated with when you are trading with fear, it makes you indecisive, and puts you in total confusion that will make you decided wrongly about the time to invest and about the particular project to invest in.

If one can get rid of fear, and take a certain decision while deciding on the project to trade on after research, then there is 60 percent chances that he will make a gain out of it, but when fear crips in, and gives you double thought on what to do, if you aren't very careful, you will end up making mistakes that will cost you.

greed and fear in trading have never amounted to any longstanding success. It has only left people to lose. It is both greed and fear particularly fear that causes fear of missing out, FOMO is a resultant effect of somebody who allows fear to enter them will suffer from taking wrong and poorly calculated risks which will lead to failed and loss trade. Trading is about discipline and calculated risk management regardless of the amount of money involved in it. When you have a trade opened, you are supposed to be able to money it based on a target you have set and a strategy you have put in place.

This would have happened to many traders on this forum before, that is if you are truly trading. A time you will be making profits from trading in a way there is not single loss like a magic for days or weeks or just a little loss. It is all going on good and you are happy which will make your trading confidence grow which is a greed catalyst.

You can be a day trader or scalper or both but let us assume both, using $500 to trade and earning $10 to $25 daily, the confidence will later deceive you to increase your leverage and become greedy, which is the start of the beginning failure. Stop loss started failing, trading account funds shrink and at last after several losses because of the trading mindset that changed from good to poor, the trading account funds all got liquidation.

From good trade that is not hitting the stop loss, to stop loss failure, to account funds complete liquidation.

Has this happened to you before?
The most dangerous thing in trading is that we think we will never make mistakes. If continuous gain for a few days or weeks increases confidence, but if that confidence becomes arrogant, then the problem begins. According to my view, when someone consistently wins, they think that trading in big lot will now be more profitable. From there they continue to make mistakes such as removing additional leverage stop loss and disobeying trading plans. The market but no bias towards the continuous success of anyone shows no bias. A wrong decision can erase the profits of the previous many days within a few hours. So I will tell from my small experience that you keep on gaining good things, but if your self control is right, you well reach the top of success.

As a trader we shouldn’t be too confidence with our strategies as a trader just because we are making profits or the journey is being easy. When we begin to underestimate the market and thought of not applying our risk management and little tools that will help to reduce our losses then we are getting widely open to get liquidate by the market.
Overconfidence shouldn’t leads us to early liquidation and end our trading journey instantly, let always stay guided when trading no matter how confident we might be because the market isn’t a reliable place when it comes down to things like this.

You are right. This happens to those traders who regularly monitor the market and buy regularly. I started trading initially but I have to spend a lot of time observing the market so I prefer long term investments. But at the moment this market decline is taking me to a tempting level because I can sense that the market will rise soon. I am buying regularly during the period of continuing price decline. I believe that in the future there will come a time when this patience and regular buying will yield positive results and the possibility of getting high profits. The purpose of short term trading is not the purpose, your purpose should be to have stop losses and buy regularly. I am using my own strategy without applying leverage but I have adopted a strategy that is very similar to long term investment. The purpose is to buy regularly and have the determination not to sell at a loss. The strategy that you have explained to get small profits in a short time from trading is a suicidal decision for traders because regular doing liquidity is an immature decision.

Can we said that this phenomenon as a common thing to happen among traders especially when they are in their early experience in trading?
More profit than losses makes most of us become overconfidence then start to think about taking a bigger risk for bigger profit, in this stage our greed push us stronger because our own confidence due to the previous profit.
Frankly, I was in such a situation and  regret it when the losses started to come because the losses were much bigger than the previous profit streak.
Lesson from this experience, we should not take bigger risk just because small profit streak and we should make a reasonable target with reasonable risk.

I think that experience is quite common when we’re just starting out in trading. Maybe almost every trader goes through it. Confidence from consistent profits and trades going as predicted can easily make a trader overconfident. Everyone wants bigger profits, and mistakes usually happen at times like that. But I believe that with more experience, that greed can be managed.

That sounds right, and I really agree on that. Wih time we begin to have more experience with the market and we learn to control our greed and emotions because when we choose not to take control of that then easily we will be in reds. Experience helps to boost our confidence in the market, and we get to figure out things that are meant to be done during trading and things we need to overlook sometimes. like the greed of bigger profits and take the little we see and with time we can gradually turn the smaller profits into something bigger. And getting too overconfidence with our trades isn’t a right thing, just because some trades are going too well for us doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be careful and feel to proud of ourselves.
