Most African countries the government controls everything and the common citizens has no right to question them because when you question them they are going to use the military on you.
There was a protest that happened in Nigeria a long time ago, the end sars protest, the military attacked those that were protesting and killed some of the protesters, after that incident people started avoiding protest because they don't want to die. Citizens in Africa has no right and there is no democracy in Africa.

Nobody will go against what we have said or we don't care about their rascality that's the statement of most Africans leaders. They can only protest and it doesn't move our decision, our purpose is to grow the falling economy. Leaders with such mindset has nothing to offer citizens than authoritative ruling or autocrat.. if we are under such nations as citizens what do we do to be heard?

If we elect and put people who are corrupt in power, then the rights of the people will be taken away. Therefore, the people should put a competent and honest person in power, because the people have this power. If they vote, then it is definitely possible to put a competent person in power. But there are some people among the people who put a corrupt person in power for money, due to which that person plays with the rights of the people.
Who forgets the rights of the people to fulfill their own interests, so only a competent and honest person should be voted in to power. The people can do this.

Most challenging countries hardly identify their rights because of misplacement of priorities between the leaders and the people. Most African nations feels the leaders control their rights of the citizens and privacy that's why the citizens actions and protest are not highly recognized on the events of urgency. Do you think the leaders has right over the lives of the common citizens or the citizens determined the controls checks and balance of the leaders?

I think there is a difference between the lives of leaders and those of citizens. Leaders never adopt the lives of citizens because leadership is a duty. In democratic terms, every citizen has the right to express their opinions, the right to privacy, and the right to peaceful protest against any decision that affects normal citizens' lives. No doubt economic growth is important for a country, but it is not fair for a government to stop protests against it based on economic growth.

What are your thoughts on countries where leaders don't give their public the right to express opinions? In my view, such countries never succeed in any field, and the only reason behind it is corrupt leadership. When I study the Chinese system and other successful countries, the only thing I notice is their rules and laws, and above all their implementation. When the law applies to all citizens, including leaders, how can the government take wrong steps?

The thing there is that, voting is merely just the first step, it’s crucial to citizens to also hold the leaders they elected accountable after they’ve assumed power. Even those who appeared to be honest during their campaign should also be held accountable and judged by their actions, their respect for the citizen’s rights and their policies. Otherwise, those who voted them into power would still be the same people that would suffer at the end of the day, and this is just the reality of several countries in the world today.

The type of deaf and dumb people we elect as leaders just can't be fought with noise alone, protesting just don't work on them because they clearly don't listen to the masses. And if a leader clearly states that protest will not motivate him to change his stance or decisions, then the protest is dead on arrival. One thing that was very well and give all these stubborn and aimless leaders sleepless nights is a massive strike by workers or people coming together to support themselves without needing their help.

The answer it's citizens, but we know it's not always the case. There is some certain degree that the government should ignore the citizens for their own benefits. After all, you were placed there to lead. And you can't lead if you are a people's pleaser.

For a leader, he must carry the burden of the entire nation and feel their pain too. And address the once that needs urgent addressing as the chief in command can't do all at the same time.

But some certain leaders have seen this as if they are doing the people a favour for actually governing them. It's not something we should be proud of.

The fact is that in most African countries, citizens don't even know that they have the right to certain things. They let fear shut down what they are supposed to do when the government doesn't seem to be functioning. In Nigeria to be precise, we have the right to question the government on why our economy is failing and what he plans on doing to fix it. But how many are even willing to exercise that right. We know that when the crowd is silent, majority would do same and that's a problem in Africa, no body is speaking. There are some important aspects in our economy that strikes a need for questioning and since our government knows that we usually don't exercise our rights, they use it as an advantage for their ill responsibility..
I agree that it is the right of citizen to question their leader and also to demand accountability from them because it is responsibility of government to explain why they have taken certain decisions that have affected the people as they are not free to make decisions without explaining the consequences. I do not think that problem that African have is that they are not able to speak or they are afraid to speak. So many countries in which the citizens are speaking against government but there is very little change from their Leaders because they are ignoring their complaints and they are also sometimes using their power against people to silence them.

Similarly, there are also people who are struggling to survive on daily basis because of everything that is going on around them they do not have time, resources or security to participate in any type of protest. Meanwhile, it is responsibility of citizen to speak against any sort of problem. Democracy is not about getting votes during election but it also involves monitoring the activities of the government and in return, demanding better results from them. Citizen should also come forward to stop supporting the leaders just because they are from their similar tribe or religion or because of their political loyalty

Regarding that, is that mostly our people's don't even know there own right ,then to talk of our leaders. In nigeria to be precise, our right as nigerian must of our Nigerians do not even know there right to talk of confronting our leaders.
And again if u don't know how to talk or criticise our leaders u will got arrested that's why must people's keep quiet like they don't know anything

The  problem is, how do we even know, and what's to guarantee that the politician we trust won't change their tune once they're in power?
They are only human. They can seem honest and principled and make all the right promises while trying to win people's support. But once they're in power, whether they still stand by those values is another story.

Power , status and  money are a huge temptation ,  and not many people can resist them.  That's why most politicians can't be trusted, no matter how decent they were to begin with.

Laws of every government in a democracy treats everyone equally but in reality the power always holds the advantage over the common citizen. If you are in that stuation, you can't really do much other than waiting for your next election and vote for the right person.
It is only in the law that will see that in democratic government the citizens have the right to choose who they want as leaders and that the leaders they choose into power are meant to serve the people but the leaders are there and not doing anything for the citizens, sometimes because of bad government citizens will be all out and ready to vote the right person into power in the next election, but what about if the next election is rigged because this people somehow do get people to succeed them and they will ensure to rig election so as for their choice to still remain in power.

In a country like Nigeria, how do you hold your leaders accountable, We all know that Nigerians don’t elect their leaders, they’re handpicked by someone who feel like they’re godfather and buy using election malpractice to win elections, but when it comes to Nigeria Presidential Elections it’s always rigged, there is no free and fair election in Nigeria this people put themselves in offices, so how do you hold them accountable when you’re not the one electing them, this leaders would alway know what to tell you if you try holding them accountable. Well Nigerians know that our Vote doesn’t Count in Elections.

I think the only place were you can hold your leaders accountable for their actions is in the Western World, when a leader isn’t doing well in office the citizens have the right to protest or go against the government for their bad decisions and policies, Citizens can ask for resignation and the leader would resign when the people is against him or her in office.

However in Nigeria were I come from you can’t see a leader in office resign for not doing well, or when the citizens are against them for not performing well in Office, instead you see them making excuses and alway having something to say to defend themselves.

How can the citizens who vote them into power be able to hold them accountable when they are  the same set of people collecting bribes and receiving different promises from the politicians during election campaigns. And even on the election eve they sell their votes for money. To hold politicians accountable the citizens have a big role to play especially during elections and voting because that’s where it usually starts. The citizens have to say no to vote buying and bribery during elections if truly they want to hold their leaders accountable.

Many countries are where they are today because of bad governance, corruption, poor leadership, mismanagement of public resources and lack of accountability. In most countries, governments make themselves the people do not make them. A clear example is Nigeria. What politicians do in Nigeria is campaign during elections, make countless promises, use the people suffering as a tool to gain sympathy and present themselves as the solution to their problems. In the end, they rig the elections.

-snip-
When a candidate comes to power by buying the support of the people in exchange for his own money, then after coming to power, his own interests will be more important to him than the welfare of the people, because that person spent his own money to come to power, so naturally he will give more importance to money than the welfare of the people. It can be said that these are the people's fault, because everyone supports someone in exchange for their own small personal gains who later gives more importance to their own gains than the development of the country after coming to power, but the common people do not understand this. Therefore, first the people have to be aware, those in power must be held accountable, but when they start showing corruption and power, then the people have to unite and fight against them. If we do not go against the corrupt leaders, this corruption will always continue and the suffering of the people will never end, so first the people have to be honest and united.
But I think this problem does not only exist with regard to the voter's right of having some influence over others based on the matter of funding. Even if the people choose someone who has great honesty as his quality, after winning the elections , the monitoring process becomes negligent. This way, the person elected may easily disregard whatever promises they had been making earlier to the people. So the civic duty should not end here because one must demand accountability regarding any development program within the city and also voice out their grievances against any corruption they find out in the process. Just selecting honest politicians won't suffice rather, one needs a system wherein the powerful too will have to answer for themselves.

I wouldn't want to agree that there are no bad governance in other countries, or rigging of elections too
Corruption and bad governance is just on the spread and these countries involved are really suffering it hard.

Normally, according to the dictates of democracy, the populace are soposed to make the government. This they do by voting during election and supporting a candidate they believe will effect positive change in the country. And when an elected government is not doing well, the citizens clamours for impeachment and removal of such a leader or leaders, and so be it.

But today, it has changed alot. This days, in some countries, elections are not counted. They rig there way into office. This means that the citizens have no say anymore. At this point, government make themselves because they will do anything humanly possible to sit as the leaders, and then fund ways to get all there money spent during campaigns back. Because if electoral malpractice, citizens have lost there power of selecting leaders.. just too bad.

Nobody will go against what we have said or we don't care about their rascality that's the statement of most Africans leaders. They can only protest and it doesn't move our decision, our purpose is to grow the falling economy. Leaders with such mindset has nothing to offer citizens than authoritative ruling or autocrat.. if we are under such nations as citizens what do we do to be heard?
In the third world. lack of knowing what is their rights. people doesn't make their decision to make their during the polling. that's why the political party's are taking advantage and nominating corrupted and musclemen for their candidates.

We all know that in a democratic system of government power resides in the hands of the people, because they decides who leads them, but in most African nations the power has been taking from the people because of corruption by the leader. This people rig election and put themselves into power rather than letting the vote of the people ro count.  I also  think that the people have to start realizing that the power is their hand and they have the right to vote in who they want to lead them. They have to learn to defend their votes and also make their leaders realize that they will not just accept every election results,  especially those that they feel it's rigged. I really think that if the people are in unity and decide to stand for their right, their leaders have no choice than to adjust their ways, but I think.the people are not even ready for it.

Laws of every government in a democracy treats everyone equally but in reality the power always holds the advantage over the common citizen. If you are in that stuation, you can't really do much other than waiting for your next election and vote for the right person.

The government is is an important structure that provides and controls the needs of its people through laws and policies that helps in running a country.in Nigeria there are three arms that coordinates and guide the welfare and interest of its people.

The legislation, judiciary and the executive are the main arms that coordinates and regulate everything that happens in the country, when these three arms of government perform at there almost best without any interference the aim of the country can be achieved.

These sectors helps the government in harnessing every single activity that goes on in the country where laws are been made and also consequences of actions are been addressed to the appropriate sectors. Nigeria haas been operating on this system since inception so as to control the welfare and interest of the people they play different roles in achieving common goals in the country.
