Most African nations feels the leaders control their rights of the citizens and privacy that's why the citizens actions and protest are not highly recognized on the events of urgency. Do you think the leaders has right over the lives of the common citizens or the citizens determined the controls checks and balance of the leaders?
This is not true, you are only annoyed because of how poor Africa countries economies are if compared to the Western countries and some countries like China. There is democracy in Africa except in the junta countries taking by the military, I mean the countries ruled by the juntas. And just know that both democratic and autocratic system of government are good, it all depend on how good the leaders are. I do not like it when people are using autocratic system of government as something bad. Democracy... another word for the right to vote your next dictator in. Lol. Originally, it's wrong, but based on our kind of government and how things are going, then it's a big YES. It's just so bad that good citizens gather all in the name of election, with hopes that after electing a leader, that things will be better, and immediately after that, things grow from bad to worse. This is what we see on so many under developed or developing countries. To me, in some of these African countries, democracy only exists on lips, but the reality of it is killed, dead and buried. What do we say when elected leaders think only of themselves and there families and probably those who rigged them into power. Infact, many of the elections are not even credible. They do not reflect the heart of the people, and so, citizens are becoming apoliticals. By definition of democracy, it should be the best form or system of government, but out of greed, it has been overturned by our greedy leaders. I love democracy, I wish it truly existed.

Even as the authority of the government comes from the people, there have to be a balance. When selecting a leader, it is better to pick a leader that loves his country. I believe that if you love something so much, you will do all your best to make that thing happy or well. You know. Love covers all.
My first statement was about balance. There are some situations the country might find itself and it has to take a decision that will later in the future be positive to the nation, but as of now will take a toll on it's people. That's why I say balance. Some people will be thinking of now and will come out and protest 🪧 based on now, forgetting the bigger picture or don't care at all. Just self centred people who think about now.
So it's balance and love that are two hidden germs to make a country great.

We are bittered by the way things are going on in our individual country, but in Africa democracy still exists. Let's not talk about how elections are rigged. Yes, elections are rigged because the puppeteers (citizens paid during the electoral process to rig the election) are the ones who make sure they hand the lead to the current leaders. We cant say they are not citizens. They are citiens who have chosen to take bribe while elction is being rigged. Leaders do not have right over the lives of citizens. Inpeachment still exist by law. We just have scared citizens who are afraid to come out and stand for what is right. I agree that leaders should never be given the chance of having unlimited authority over the citizens' lives. Whenever there is democracy, political power is supposed to come from the people through their votes and by the help of elections, courts, legislature or proper procedure that provide proper check and balance. However, it is also the responsibility of the citizens to keep the democracy and keep the government healthy if people are accepting money to vote in an election or they remain silent because they are just afraid. They unintentionally strengthen same system they complain about. Main problem is not only the bad government or bad leadership; it is also the weak institutions and the lack of Civic accountability.

Both me and you constitute what makes the government, the people are the government and choose to put some certain set of people as well to represent them in political positions, because people cannot stay together without having a leader and that is why we all voted our politicians into office to work for us, but today things are not found to be the same way it was expected, because political power has been used against the conscience and rights of the people, everything is being done under a circle of those that are within the power and implement what comes in favor for them or instead of the people that put them in place to represent them.
It is true that the people are the government since they decisively elect their leaders but we can all agree that the people are also the ones that allowed these leaders to govern in their own selfish interest. If the people can rise up and challenge a bad government, they will become a better people because anyone who assumes a public office will understand that if he is not accountable, he will likely lose his office when the people comes for him. Most leaders are democratically elected which mean that those who elected them still has the power to challenge them when they are not serving the people in a way that they deserve.

In African countries today, there leaders are not there to serve but to command, control and steal all meant for developmental and revamping projects in there countries. Imagine the high level of mineral resources in Africa today yet Africa appears to be the poorest continent all over the world all because the reasons for leadership in Africa is far from that of other continents. All leaders elected into offices today in Africa are only there for what they stand to gain for themselves and there families which is why the level of poverty in Africa still increases beyond reasonable doubts.
There’s a lot of truth in your concern about the issue of corruption and selfish political leadership, but one thing we need also to understand is that Africa consists of different countries with different ways of life. Bad government can undeniably slowed down the the development of many countries but we can’t pretend like it’s completely their fault, because lasting success also depends on active citizen participation among other things, which means that the citizens also have a role to play, but oftentimes, citizens abandon their own roles and solely depend on the government for everything. With or without the full participation of citizens in one way or the other, that doesn't mean the government should not be functional in carrying out there constitutional duties which is a corruption free mode of operation. Before getting into office, it is constitutionally recognised that they will operate in a corruption free manner, therefore citizens failure to perform there duties is never a reason leaders should operate in such manners.

For me, I think leaders ain’t supposed to have absolute power over the citizens. It’s the citizens that gave them the mandate, so they are supposed to have rights to ask questions, demand for accountability without being afraid and criticize. If government isn’t listening, peaceful protests, voting wisely, speaking out and using legal channels is the only means that the citizens voice can be heard. Even if change didn’t happen immediately, citizens ain’t supposed to be quiet when their rights are being violated.

Just self centred people who think about now. The important point in your talk is that leadership is not just about gaining power, but also a great responsibility. The people elect representatives to take better decisions for their country. Therefore, a leader should be chosen who has love, wisdom, patience, and justice. Many times, decisions have to be made that people do not like, but in the future there is a benefit for the country. But if a leader is sincere to the people and the people, he will not be afraid of difficult decisions because people may be temporarily angry. Along with this, it is not right to ignore the opinion of the people. The real power of the government comes from its people. Therefore, understanding the feelings of the people and their problems is a sign of a good ruler. Good leadership is the one who listens to the people and also keeps in mind the requirements of the future.

Saying citizens are the once giving such legitimate rights to political representatives is a complete lie because now leaders decides on what to do at any point in time and can not be controlled by the decisions of the citizens. Before now the right to decide on the leadership patterns was still in existence but because politics has taking over every thing, the right to decide is no longer in existence.

It is the right of the people of a country to chose right party to form the government. But now it feels that casting a vote system is totally a drama that is manipulated just to give impression to the public that system is fair. In reality scene is quite different, it is basically a game that is played by parties working together. They already decided hiddenly among themselves who will be leader of the country for next few years. And then turn after turn it is going on. Because after every election, we used to see people protesting that it is not actual leader for whom they voted.
Fair voting system unfortunately not existed, its a very strong network system that is working behind it. Many under developed countries are puppet in the hands of that undefined system. Few people get the hold over the system, they push the honest people who wish to be the part of the government or want to run the system fairly. But due to the power of few parties , meaningful change for the interest of a country not possible.

Most challenging countries hardly identify their rights because of misplacement of priorities between the leaders and the people. Most African nations feels the leaders control their rights of the citizens and privacy that's why the citizens actions and protest are not highly recognized on the events of urgency. Do you think the leaders has right over the lives of the common citizens or the citizens determined the controls checks and balance of the leaders?
In a country that practice democracy, everyone has equal right, even the mases can determine what happens in that country because they vote those leaders in power so they have the right to sack them if they are not doing well. Where leaders have power over government than the masses is only in Africa, but in the western world, where real law is practiced there is nothing like that, ans they can't do such a thing.

Are you sure there is any country practicing real democracy, if there is i will say the citizens are lucky because all i have seen are practicing something far from real democracy. Constitutionally democracy provides a constitutional right of all to be equal but what i see now never gives right to citizens but only puts leaders above all. Although I will say it is so because corruption has eaten up everything and placed leaders above all and cannot be changed because all sectors do remain submissive to the leaders and will never go against the decision of that same set of leaders. If only something can be done about this , I will be happy to say the world will be a better place soon

The fact is that in most African countries, citizens don't even know that they have the right to certain things. They let fear shut down what they are supposed to do when the government doesn't seem to be functioning. In Nigeria to be precise, we have the right to question the government on why our economy is failing and what he plans on doing to fix it. But how many are even willing to exercise that right. We know that when the crowd is silent, majority would do same and that's a problem in Africa, no body is speaking. There are some important aspects in our economy that strikes a need for questioning and since our government knows that we usually don't exercise our rights, they use it as an advantage for their ill responsibility..
I would say why most people aren't willing to exercise their rights rights is because they've already had it in their thoughts that no matter how long they protest against the failing economy the government will never sit up to fix the problem of the country. And majority of people have this fear of not existing in the world like what happened at the end Sars process. So for that people are scared to speak up or protest against corruption and all the appening in the country.

Government is a group of people that were interested by the citizen of a nation so that they can be able to take the affairs of the Nation into their hands to allow law and Order. Government responsibility is to protect life and properties, create comfort for the citizens, citizens have heavy rights to ask for what they have not been given. The government is there a regulate thing and also make life bearable for the citizens. What normally bring protest is when the property are not being done and in this case citizen have a very strong right to ask for accountability from their leaders.

It is said that the source of all power in a country is the common people. If any work is done ignoring the people, it will definitely not be acceptable. In recent times, there is a situation in third world countries where even though the people are valued in front, the people have no value behind them. Instead of giving priority to the demands of the people, the governments give priority to their own interests. The suffering of the people is not a problem for them.
There are some governments that try to eliminate those who are protesting in order to spread their sole dominance. They try their best to establish an authoritarian system of governance. Where the people are the source of all power but the people are not given that power.
No ruler can survive by ignoring the people for a long time. Rulers who cannot fulfill the expectations of the people cannot remain in power. The governments of all the third world countries, including Africa, adopt policies by misunderstanding the common people of their country or ignoring their interests. However, leaders work to represent the common people. They promise to ensure the rights of the people.

It has seemed to me that this forum has been overrun by AI bots using models basically trained to Western public school curriculum. That is, they give very similarly formatted often single paragraph answers that would probably get high citizenship scores if submitted as answers for an assignment. I just got Venice.ai to start to figure out AI a little bit since it is, in theory, less manipulate and less monitored. I ran the following through to see what AI thought. First Halifat's, then Queen's. People say that sig-spam in this forum can turn a few dimes and that could be a motive for this forum to get spammed in such a way. I wonder if that's basically a full explanation? For me, I think leaders ain’t supposed to have absolute power over the citizens. It’s the citizens that gave them the mandate, so they are supposed to have rights to ask questions, demand for accountability without being afraid and criticize. If government isn’t listening, peaceful protests, voting wisely, speaking out and using legal channels is the only means that the citizens voice can be heard. I don't know which model it chose to use. It's the traditional chat and not the agenic: My verdict: Most likely AI-generated with a deliberately simple or slightly broken style, or AI-generated and then lightly edited by a non-native speaker. The tell is the combination of structured, essay-like logic with grammar that a fluent human wouldn't produce but a decent AI usually wouldn't either — unless the AI was tuned toward simplicity. My verdict: Most likely human-written, probably by a younger or informal writer, possibly a non-native speaker with strong colloquial English. The "ain't" usage is the strongest human signal. If this is AI, it's a model prompted to write casually and personally — but the naturalness of the errors leans human. Comparison to the first text: The first sample had sophisticated vocabulary with broken grammar (AI-like mismatch). This sample has consistent informal register with natural errors (human-like). If both came from the same source, the second is more convincingly human.

Citizens in Africa know that they have right to certain things, but the system of politic in Africa is the reason why citizens are acting like they don't know they have right to certain things. In my local government, we know the man who receives our local government allocation every month, and the money isn't majorly use to build infrastructures in my local government, if you call out the man and question him, you will be a dead man. Since citizens haven't figured out how to defend themselves against wicked politicians in Nigeria, the fear to die is the main reason they aren't holding their leaders accountable.

Usually the corrupt politicians don't hesitate in killing any person that raises questions about there corruption. Bad governance is also one reason why people are migrating from underdeveloped to developed countries because people want to live a better life. Corruption is prime reason, why a country is not able to progress and politicians are characters behind corruption in every country. There are many countries in the world where whole governance system is hijacked by military and politicians we see in government offices are either corrupt or have no power to stop the corruption.

It pains me to see people suffer because wicked and corrupt politicians takes public funds they are supposed to use to give the common man good governance and basic amenities to run their family affairs, there's nothing I can do to stop such a thing to happen. Nothing will function under bad governance, so I don't blame those travelling to developed countries in search of good life and greener pastures, because life expectancy in underdeveloped countries is between 50-60 years.

Elections in most countries around the world most especially the Africa continent, are not won by the will of the citizens, the citizens votes don't even count in some election, those political leaders are very aware of that and they keep it as business and once the threat political office as business they do only what interest them and they partners. In the right way, citizens are surpose to be the one to choose their representative, and electoral system are set in place to conduct the process of election in a free and fair manner, and anything short of that is term as rigged election and lack legitimacy to rule in office.
