At least you didn't lose anything doing it. There have been sites in the past that try to get you to spend your money to unlock an airdrop and they're normally scams too 

A lot of airdrops don't return anything or give a token that declined in value but that's common with initial share offerings on the stock market for about a year from when they've been issued.

Can scam and hack be eliminated? No. Scam airdrops can not be eliminated. Just make sure you know how to differentiate them and avoid them is the best.

Some may even require you to pay or ask you to verify in a way that your email will leak and be used for phishing attempt.

It might be easy, but the time taken by the mining can be seen as work for some people like me and work means money.

How can fakecoins or airdrops be eliminated? Basically, anyone can launch or create them. Even if, a platform bans or removes content containing fakecoins or airdrops, the creators of those fakecoins can still share them on other platforms. So, I think it is difficult to completely eliminate them, and eliminating them in the future.

So, what should you do? Avoid fakecoins, and if possible, never waste your time on them. They will only waste your time, energy, and possibly even money (if money is involved). Therefore, try not to be easily tempted by fakecoins that promise profits. Well, you might be tempted by the burning of the fakecoin (which allows for a price increase), but is there a guarantee that the price will increase? It could be just manipulation. Cmiiw.

People lose money to shitcoins, one way or another. One of such ways is getting scammed, phished by shitcoin airdrops and what they need to do is forget about dream of getting rich quickly and easily with shitcoins.

It's impossible to wipe out all shitcoins in the market because it's like scams always exist in societies, not only in cryptocurrency market. It's only responsibility of each person to prepare with knowledge and psychological control to realize "too good to be true" scams and avoid such.

When they already stuck with shitcoins, they will have many ways to lose money to such scams, not only with airdrop.

It usually even more frustrating when you have sent money for unlocking your coins and the money you paid for gas fee was quite bigger than the value of the coins you were allocated to. Airdrops used to be a thing, but as far as I'm concerned today airdrops are not worth the time and effort. People who still go into airdrops either are new into the space or simply don't have any other ways of earning crypto. The last real airdrops that hit was the telegram tap games in 2024 which paid out a lot of users and after that, we had more scam with same initiatives but non were distributing as said. So instead of wasting your time mining those worthless coins, it's better to do something else like investing if you have the capital..

The days are gone when you can easily get a valuable coin cheaply. Any project that now promises high returns within a short period of time should be observed because most of them are scams. Last year, many people engaged in the so-called Telegram airdrop mining that claimed to make them rich. You should also be careful with these projects because they are the easiest means by which hackers can access your device.  

It would be better to invest in reputable coins like Bitcoin instead of wasting resources on these shitcoins.

I use to like airdrop mining as I fealt it is the best way to get some free coin and acumulate, but I  have rather been discouraged after I spending  so many time mining airdrops and paying gas fees only to discover that they are fake. Likewise some others have also become victim of same airdrops scam's which usually consumes time than buying Bitcoin gradually with funds saved, than wasting time in airdrops or coins that at the end will have no value compared to the time spent mining it.

There is no free money any where, anyone that promises you free money that just lie just wasting your time, you have to create value to get paid, airdrop hunters should know this by now, it's a total waste of time and energy, you help promote shit coins and scam coins, that doesn't make sense to me.

Basically, there's nothing we can do about fake coins or scam airdrops in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, because it's a free market where anyone can create and distribute tokens. So no matter what you do to try to prevent those shitty projects from popping up, it won't work. All you can do is avoid getting involved with them in the first place. Even though those shitty projects offer a very promising future for their tokens, with all kinds of supposed benefits, none of those promises mean anything without real credibility. So just be on the lookout for shitcoins out there and never get involved with them if you don't want to get scammed by them.

This is sad reality out there, since its really hard to eliminate scam because there are still many greedy people out there.

What we can only do to fight those scam is to know those methods they have done, because awareness will help us to stay away with those schemes they made on daily basis.

If they know that there's something suspicious actions to be done just to qualify on airdrops or need to pay something better back off because these schemes always end up in bad place and most of people participants end up being scammed.

This is the problem with Telegram: there are so many fake airdrops. There was a time on the height of Telegram airdrop that I had over 40 airdrops, thinking that I could make a decent income working on these airdrops, but instead, the developers just made participants their own cash cow.
Many have thought that Telegram has rid these fake airdrops, but they persist. It's better to ignore airdrops coming from Telgram there's a high chance that these are all fake.

That's one reason I stopped doing airdrops.

Many of them are fake and just for the hype and clout. The devs or organizers of these airdrops are also wanting the airdrop from its community through actual money.

It might look free but they're giving incentives for those who would put some real money in it. And later, you'll have no idea if it's going to be a success or not.

But, pretty much likely that they're mostly scams.

Long gone are the days when airdrop was paying their participants real money, right now they just stress the heaven daylight out of you with numerous task , and after everything, what you will be given will not be even up to $2 after they have taken a gas fee that may be up to that $2, so it's a complete waste of time and effort.
You are new to the space so I am not surprised that you are complaining of such, because it's mostly newbie that waste time on such this days when airdrop has proven beyond reasonable doubt that it's a complete waste of time.

Lucky you for realizing that what you are about to participate in is a fake coin. Some people won't even realize it's all a fake coin; they will blindly pay gas fees, thinking it's a legit airdrop that its coin is worthwhile to have. In weeks or months, it will be clear to them that it's a shitcoin that they paid gas fees for.

This is what I doubt because the crypto space is open for everyone to create and lunch their coin at any time. That's why we are advised to research and invest the little we have, if we want to invest in altcoins

If the time comes again when airdrops are hot topics in the community. A lot of them will be alive again but, another reason for the scammers to be alive as well. Many of these airdrops are a waste of time. Remember the most recent ones with the project called 'grass'. I'm glad that I didn't spent my time and power and my resource for it to farm that project because the allocation only made the devs richer and not the ones who grinded for it.
