Most of this airdrops are fake and has no records on crypto community. Someone introduced air drop on telegram and includes a fake link where the air drop (atom) will be mined,  since is in a group I was patient enough to see the outcome.

Am already use to seeing all this fake airdrops, so we just have to be careful, because that’s the strategy that some scammers are always using to defraud people. We should know that most of the airdrops out there are even fake, and if you want to participate in anyone, then you should make sure you use a new wallet that you have no coin in, don’t use the wallet which you are using to hold coin. Also we should know that fake airdrops cant be scrab from the system that’s why we are suppose to be careful.

This days anytime you see a fake shitcoins in the market, the first thing they do is to announce their airdrops because that is the only way they can get a targeted audience and those that are hunting their airdrops are the channel's through which this scammers get their scam to the general public, alot of bounty hunters are not even aware of they contributions to make scam happen to others through their engagement and promotion of those so called shitcoins projects.

Better safe than being sorry after, just like what you've said if participating to thistype of airdrop still in your system better to use empty wallet since those scammers who offers free airdrop most of the time targetting hunters who don't have any idea that they are being targetted, as long as they can't get anything from you then wish for some luck that those people behind will take extra step to make the coin valuable then take advantage if not then move forward and forget about it.

There are many airdrops that are fake and capitalize on curiosity and FOMO. It's better to use a different wallet, but it's not foolproof as some fraud attempts to also deceive users in attempting to get them to sign bad transactions or give them their seed phrase. Before engaging with a project, check to see if it has a valid team, community and history. Any airdrop that asks for private keys, payments or unusual permissions on wallets is most likely a scam.
