The universities started to turn into credential factories around the year 2000 and have not looked back. There are more graduates than there are jobs that require them to have studied what they have learned. There is a real inflation of credentials and it is one of the least reported of the current economic distortions.

An moving costs money. Cities cost money. And the housing market crisis in any working-to-move-to city is a crisis in itself. You are asking the people to deal with one un-solvable problem, by jumping into another un-solvable problem, and calling it an opportunity.

All the people who are involved in the business talk about networking as something one learns. However, for the majority of people, it is an inheritance. Your parents know people or they do not. You went to the right school or you did not.

The younger generation is not lazy. That is a good story for the old people to tell themselves so they do not have to deal with the reality of having pulled the ladder up behind them. Some do this on purpose; some do not, but the results are the same.

If you don't channel the intelligence in a place where it actually gains an high level of visibility, your intelligence won't be known at all and likely, you might even doubt if you are intelligence or not. in serving, you discover things about yourself including how much of an intelligent person you are. as a matter of fact, the more you serve, the more intelligent you become. most of the smart people that are doing exceptionally well aren't doing so just because they are the smartest. they took up the responsibility of showing up and with that, things just flows naturally and they grow at it and their intelligence finds real expression with time.

Institutions, legal systems, technology do not magic into existence - they absolutely require a high concentration of intelligent people and everyone else starting to be educated to a reasonable standard. Without the general populace being educated, they are more liable to attacking these structures or being influenced by outside forces which may seek to undermine them. It takes decades, if not centuries for such systems to build up and it needs to be constantly evolving. The world has come a long way, but we see the countries that had a head start and really embraced this style of thinking have punched much above their weight for a long time. It's why the US with it's 350 million people outperformed far higher population countries for a long time (and still does).
