Bitcoin is used by millions of people. But AI is used daily. In services of billions of users, emails, work tools and social media. Most of the big companies use it. Clean energy use: Bitcoin went to renewable sources and isolated locations. Today, more than 52% of Bitcoin mining use clean energy, while AI still depend a lot on traditional electric grids of big cities. Environmental activists like Greenpeace that wanted Bitcoin to abandon Proof of Work, and governments with the pretext of climate change of big energy spending. Today I don't see these pressures from governments and environmental activists on AI companies and everybody see the consequences of global warming like the heat in Europe and the confused weather in the whole world, who don't believe in global warming I respect, everyone has the right to believe what they want, I believe in scientists from the whole world.

Your expression is quite the hard truth and what got me here is the last phrase.' even ovens are now powered by AI'. I would certainly love to use such an oven, but you hit the point square on.

The growth of AI is more like an arms race to me because of its many uses and integration that bides time, enhances productivity and efficiency. It's in every sector and a country that owns control over AI ultimately rules the world, not Bitcoin that is decentralized, belongs to everyone, threatens the traditional monetary system and is hardly controlled nor truly makes one country more powerful than the other.

AI definitely uses more energy than Bitcoin systems ever could but the government is willing to turn a blind eye to this seeing the above reasons I spoke on, but let's see how long it would take for energy crisis to start and how AI gets to summount some of the hurdles that may arise in a foreseeable future where the effects starts to mount.

Couldn't that be called a "double standard", or "hypocrisy" ? Sometimes I am amazed by this kind of drama that seems to blame Bitcoin for everything from its use for illegal activities to energy waste. Yet, they are the ones using so much energy for things that only benefit them. You can see how racing uses so much energy, even non-renewable energy. Isn't that a real waste ? Don't they seem hypocritical ? Yes, I think so, because they are trying to cover up the truth.

I think it is not a problem with the use of energy intended for human needs, especially for progress, and the use of energy for Bitcoin is a common interest (all human beings), and can even help anyone to facilitate transactions throughout the world. So, I think there is nothing wrong with using large amounts of energy for things; that are important to humanity.

Bitcoin energy consumption was actually a myth or it was a major campaign against bitcoin. The campaign did not end or reduce because bitcoin adopted green energy, it reduced because bitcoin is aging. It is no longer that young and tender technology.

AI is very useful nowadays. Look at those who advertise on YouTube and Facebook; most of them are AI-generated. They are no longer hiring an artist or popular vlogger to promote their product; instead, they hire someone who can do AI-generated videos because it is way cheaper than hiring an artist or a vlogger, and the good thing is they can finish the service almost immediately and be ready to start a campaign ad.

This AI honestly already existed before the hype. I am using a few of them to auto-generate some feeds to my social media accounts with a little change to the content before they post it to all of my social media accounts. It's for SEO and learning purposes before promoting my own site without spending.
We are in the AI era, and we see almost every month there is a new project related to AI. Even Google nowadays is slowly accepting AI-generated content on blogs, even though they were against it before.

The government are not the ones that are building the AI data centers, it is private companies or partnership companies that are building the AI data centers.

I just like that people are no more saying bitcoin waste energy and bitcoin is responsible for global warning because the data centers are using more energy far more than bitcoin mining.

Bitcoin solves mostly one or a few problems for many peope. (Store of value, payment method etc) AI on the other hand is a much much broader tool that can fix lots of problems. Some people may not need bitcoin for the rest of their lives but those who don’t adopt AI will lose their competitive advantage and that will make them much poorer as other people who adopted AI will get much richer.

Every country's government has different plans. Bitcoin mining is happening all over the world that doesn't mean that all governments around the world will shut down all types of miners electricity it will never happen. There is solar energy although it is used by very small amount of miners.. When its adoption increases miners may start using solar energy. An interesting thing is that when miners stop mining and leave the rewards of those who continue to mine will increase which is why Bitcoin mining will never stop.

That could very well be the case. Governments generally act in ways that benefit them, and they calculate what they can gain political points for. So I think Greenpeace could very well be on the same page, because I don't know who funds Greenpeace, but I can guess. And even now, when AI demands maximum power, I don't hear any angry cries directed at AI campaigns or talk about them raising global temperatures. Maybe because governments are complicit in this and benefit from their silence? I don't know, but I can only guess.

I don't see the point of comparison here. Data centers that run AI applications are taxed, centralized, and fully cooperate with authorities, while Bitcoin is decentralized and governments may not be able to effectively control it. In short, the problem isn't electricity consumption or environmental damage, but rather the difficulty of controlling Bitcoin.

Anti-Bitcoin campaigns like Greenpeace are not environmentalists, but an arm of a political or economic class that is threatened by the popularity of Bitcoin. I checked the website of Greenpeace, and it seems they are tired of their campaign. The last article on their website is more than two years old, and their social media channels are now inactive. They fought hard but lost the fight against Bitcoin.

At the height of these anti-Bitcoin campaigns, Bitcoin adoption kept increasing. Now we have major asset managers investing in Bitcoin and some governments proposing to start a reserve.

Despite fact that AI data centers used electricity more than any whole countries, though, they were not in spotlight as much as Bitcoin, which received nothing short of Greenpeace “Change the Code” campaign for its energy use. There was strong unequal pressure in rules. Indeed, 52% clean energy claim for Bitcoin mining as shown by Cambridge Bitcoin Electricity Consumption Index (CBECI) is real as miners switched from fossil fuels to hydro, wind and trapped gas since start of this last decade. AI companies can not claim anything like that at this time. There were very few plans in Europe that were focused on proof of work and ignored proof of stake and AI. That pressure caused the move of Bitcoin mining industry to more friendly areas and not to the end of the world because “environmental” worry was not entirely honest.
