You are absolutely right in your question; this is a legitimate question that should be directed to the governments that have long fought against Bitcoin on the grounds that it wastes electrical energy and contributes to environmental pollution and global warming.

Today, AI data centers consume far more energy than Bitcoin did, and many Bitcoin mining companies have abandoned mining and turned to data centers, and governments are not shouting at data centers as they did at Bitcoin.

Gemini hallucinates a lot and anthropic claude sonnet is bottom tier of AI. Antigravity is forked vscode with proprietary bloatware, you better off installing claude or codex extension on vscode. Although I also agree that AI is saving a lot of times to get the work done, I tried creating a trading bot and it's done in about 1 hour which probably going to take me whole week to create the bare minimum MVP. Try Fable 5 or GPT 5.6 sol you'd be astounded.

I installed Claude extension, but it only works with a paid plan. So your suggestion is not working for me.
As I said, I receive 1 year Google AI pro for free, which is better than any free alternative.

I also have ChatGpt GO (which I also got for free), is there any way to try it in vscode? I couldn't find a way. Any suggestion ?

its just people who hate Bitcoin, or, in simple terms, "haters gonna hate". Green peace supposed to know that Bitcoin is going to use clean energy in the future and now already reaching more than 50% of it.

While AI or other data centers are now pumping hard all energy sources available, why are the green peace start to protest about AI data center now, because AI datacenter is also use lot energy more than bitcoin data center today and the demand keep high and I do believe that gonna be problem for them right.

The integration with the AI is way better than in Vscode.

I can't imagine how more integrated it goes. In VSCode there is already a Claude tab, next to the file sources which you can talk with the AI. There is also the terminal which is way better, IMO.

But you need a paid plan to use it. It reads all your files and , build docker and test the software,  etc

Claude Code in VSCode terminal already does that. You can literally run Claude with --dangerously-skip-permissions and it takes access to the entire system, starts running apps, etc., as if I command a developer.

Yeah, antigravity IDE does exactly that (terminal, access files, etc)... it is a vscode fork.
But i can use without a claude subscription.

I still have my student pro plan until september, than I will look for another AI. I will try claude if I have to pay $20 per month.

Difference is that, bitcoin is bitcoin, it is us that use bitcoin and invest into it, and we are still not a large part of the population, and on top of that, we are not big part of the economy neither. Blackrock got in only recently and miners are still just a fraction of the population, unimportant.

However, AI is used by so many big corporations and there are trillions going around. Nvidia worths more than all of farmers combined in all of Australia for example, a huge land piece. So yeah, the size difference is the reason.

Elon Musk stopped the use of Bitcoin for payment in Tesla because of concerns raised by environmentalists. Now he is one of the major investors in the AI industry. These companies are more concerned about financial benefits than the environment.

I still refused to believed that Elon Musk stop Bitcoin payment because of environmental concern. Probably they did because of fear that many business people has raised concerns. If there is environmental concern, I'm not sure US President will attempt to make Bitcoin as Bitcoin reserve, he is desperate but I don't think he is stupid, he is though but not in the case to use it for political enrichment, he knows the fight he was getting into that time.

Tesla stop Bitcoin payment for the fear of price dump, that's the only reason, they should come straight.  Okay, what about doge he shilled? Dogs concern right! 

Your argument is logical since AI is slowly becoming part of our everyday lives. But its importance shouldn't be a reason for the havoc data centers are causing to communities. Extreme energy and water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions caused by these centers, if not controlled, would affect different communities. Just as these anti-Bitcoin forces formed well-organized associations, I expect these environmentalists to keep pushing for data centers to have an alternative and safe source of power.

I have seen he development of AI, not broad enough but I have seen how AI has transformed alot of things, the way programing is easy with LLM and agents, I don't even have what to say about the environmental concern. The benefits outweighs the environmental concerns, not to side but what this companies are doing, they are highly helpful to human. There is hype about them but the company are great at what they do.

Bitcoin is not longer environment threatening like the early days, both will learn to optimize and safe for environment in few years to come.

This is a unique insight and a good observation. It's a no-brainer that the government will use every excuse in the book to discredit Bitcoin for obvious reasons. Bitcoin threatens the control of the government over the masses' financial status; that alone is more than enough reason to fight and push back against Bitcoin. The IMF has seen that they can't stop this movement so they encourage countries to place policies on it to usurp some level of control.

Meanwhile, other than the AI sector and Data centers, we have so many other sectors that have higher power consumption too, such as the industrial sector, oil and gas, cooling sector, etc. Even the traditional banking sector has more power consumption than Bitcoin source
