The fear of missing out isn't only restricted to trading activities, it is a common problem with gamblers too even if they fail to acknowledge it.
‎So, please don't let FOMO keep you hostage to your betting app if you are so conscious of catching a cashout offer before it expires, that you fail to do other important things.
There's the auto Cash-Out feature these days that you can easily customize to set your profit targets in advance and once you can learn to apply it, thus allowing the technology do the heavy lifting, you save your mental energy, capital and emotions from distress.

Constantly staring at fluctuating numbers usually just leads to emotional, impulsive decisions and this is the situation in which you may find yourself because it is exactly what the sportsbooks want you to do.
Just as FOMO is bad for trading and investment, it is also bad for betting or gambling on your platform of choice.

So, have you ever known that FOMO could keep you hostage to your betting app, or you just finding out?
 Your opinion is welcomed!

I wouldn't attribute this to FOMO; I believe it's more accurate to call it an attempt to recoup losses, in the hope of winning, given the high stakes involved. And if a person isn't able to think critically or assess the real situation, they start convincing themselves that "the next bet will definitely solve all their accumulated problems". And the next step usually leads to a new cycle of this self-deception and an even deeper descent into the problem.

That's the hard part. Accepting defeat and moving on fast. I think most gamblers must learn those techniques as soon as possible to avoid FOMO or whatever emotion that will make them addicted to gambling. I can tell because I have been there. Non-stop depositing, trying to chase the losses, and it could sometimes go for the whole day, messing up all my work and house chores. Thankfully, I learned my lesson, and as soon as I realized that I was wasting too much time on gambling, I cut the slots playing and just focused on sports betting, which doesn't really eat up a lot of time. It's actually more enjoyable.
Betting can also be a huge waste of time if you're not responsible. There are so many games to choose from, if you decide you need to either recoup losses or see matches you're overly optimistic about, you can continue betting for several days in a row, such as on weekends when there are a lot of matches. It's better to be responsible and choose just a few matches per week to bet on. This way, you can save time and definitely money.

Of course, it's better to focus on betting and not choose too many matches, but only the best ones, understanding that this is where we can win some money. FOMO also affects a large number of players worldwide, because many players think the best is yet to come and are afraid of missing out on great opportunities today. They think that yesterday's bets were the best, and those who won seem the most daring. However, if you think about it, if they had lost, we would have accepted it as a given. So absolutely any situation can be perceived as FOMO, but you need to be mentally stronger than this and not dwell on missed opportunities, but look only forward.

You have pointed out a valid point here, gambling all the time or almost all the time is not good because the more you gamble often the more chances one stand to make losses or become addicted into gambling. when someone gamble often without making profit and if they do not  have self control they will start going after their losses hence, it is wise and advisable to gamble mostly during the weekends because there better games in the weekends and they also present different choice.

FOMO is something that can keep you hostage to gambling as a gambler if you don't have self control. You see gamblers betting everyday not because they are winning, but because of fear of missing out. I was once a hostage to gambling because of fear of missing out, I place bet everyday even when I don't feel like gambling, but now I'm free from that hostage, I gamble only when I feel like gambling, and not because of FOMO.

It all comes down to the player’s mindset and expectations of gambling. You can’t compare a gambler who’s merely just gambling just for fun and entertainment to one who is gambling solely for the sake of making money, there’ll always be a difference. One who’s gambling for money wouldn’t mind betting on different games whether or not they’re optimistic about those games. And such gamblers are hardly responsible when they gamble. So the best thing is to correct the mindset first before attempting to correct any other thing.

I don't think I can still remember when last I heard about something like this. That an  addicted gambler suddenly becomes free from is addictive gambling habits all by himself without the assistance of an external body. However, the possibility of it is always slim unless strict measures and some level of determination is taken. Furthermore, it's good to know that you are pretty okay at the moment and also, you can be able to set emotions aside whenever you're on your gaming streak. Nice one, just try as much as you can  in maintaining it, because  a single mistake can ruin everything.

This is so true and I saw someone in that situation today. He was playing aviator and spent hours on the game. He started with a losing streak but kept motivating himself that one good win will help him recover all the losses and that he was not going to stop because he believed that he will soon hit a very big multiplier. He deposited four times and lost all yet he refused to give up. It was the fifth deposit that actually helped him recover most of the losses, although he ended the bet in small loss after he was pressured to stop and don't yield to greed.

The casino platform had him exactly where they wanted him. Imagine that he stopped completely after the 4th deposit and lost 4x. I bet that happens all too regularly. Crazy how these casinos can keep people coming back for the promise of some small extra bonus or incentive and people just keep going and going and going. At what point do they just want to gamble for fun and now think they have to bet without rest! These are the type of folks I would urge to take their foot off the gas and just take a breather

I wonder why some gamblers are so scared of losing, yet they still want to gamble. If gambling makes someone continue watching the game all the time out of fear, then it is better not to gamble at all.

The cashout option should be used appropriately, perhaps when one is gambling and thinks the game is not going the way they expected, then cashout can be done. However, I don't think it makes sense when one is not ready to gamble but is becoming so panicked and relies too much on cashing out. If gamblers are wagering amounts they can afford to lose, they won't be so worried about cashing out.

anybody that is into gambling and does not think about financial discipline is just an arms way from gambling loses as perpetual lost of money is usually a direct consequence of too much gambling. When you gamble alot and you don’t put caps into it such as setting a target on your wins or loses you will be at the verge of losing money beyond what you have planned for. That is why it is oftentimes recommended to gamble responsibly instead of gambling haphazardly.

This should be publicized to folks who think they can get rich through gambling. Do you know how many people had the opportunity to cash out part of their profit, but greed won't let them do that. This made me remember one of my neighbour who Played multiple games in one slip (it was 10 game thigh). So out of those 10 , 8 games has played out successfully, I advised this brother to cashout ( The betting platform he used, has a live cashout options) because the last 2  games aren't looking good.  But greed didn't allow this guy to cashout until one of the last two games end in 0-0 draw , because both games kicked of at the same time.

Although he could have luckily won the 10 games that he picked and he will end up with a more profit, but the margin between the live cashout offers and the profit was even that significant. Situations like this happens always, that's why FOMO and greed trap people by making them hold on too long until the opportunity slips away. People need to be think and fully aware on the kind of decisions they make always.

You are correct, by betting on few matches, you are in the safest position since your savings will not be squandered daily. We must not be so much covetous and aspire to triumph regularly on a weekly basis since that vice will only create a lot of misery in our families in this enviable home.

Modern betting apps use real-time odds, push notifications, and live cash-out offers to trigger FOMO and keep you glued to your screen, which quickly leads to mental fatigue and impulsive decisions.

While using Auto Cash-Out helps remove the emotional stress of constantly checking the app, it is important to remember that sportsbooks build a hidden margin into cash-out offers that discounts your expected payout. The healthiest way to protect your capital and peace of mind is simply setting your profit targets beforehand, placing your wager, and closing the app until the match is over.

I recognize myself from many years ago, when I was still playing in land-based casinos. I'd lose in a couple of hours what I'd earn at work in a week. And what did I do next? I'd borrow money on the spot from coworkers or friends. What did it all lead to? I ended up owing a large sum of money. As soon as they found out I was unemployed, they stopped lending me money. That's when I first started thinking about what I was doing. Why do all this? I could have spent that money on something useful.

The fear of missing out isn't only restricted to trading activities, it is a common problem with gamblers too even if they fail to acknowledge it.
This played out greatly in the just-concluded world cup tournament, so anyone who says there is no FOMO in betting is only deceiving themselves. However, one should be extra careful as well regardless of whether FOMO is real or not, my reason is addiction; it starts like this, in the thoughts that it's FOMO, but before you know it, it could graduate to something. I like to urge gamblers to be self-aware above all, anything psychological should be handled with utmost caution instead of satisfying the feelings.

I think most people get entangled with their emotions which causes FOMO, some gamblers doesn’t want to miss out on games, more like a potential win, probably if their game is doing badly and it’s not running well, and opportunity of cashing out arises, then they can cash out the game instead of loosing everything.

Personally I think the best thing to do is allow the game to play not bothering about the outcome, instead of always sticking to your betting application, I don’t focus on games that I have placed my bet on them, i prefer to check my betting app when the game is over, whatever happens I accept it, I’m not a fan of cashing out when my game isn’t playing as predicted.

I personally think the auto-cashout feature has a big design flaw. This event is based on a real time result or outcome of a game, the auto-cashout can't track what is happening in real time to gauge if it is a favorable condition or not for the cashout. If you're one that prefers the cashout option, you have to closely monitor your games or else you can't tell precisely when it is ideal for a cashout. Handing this over to an auto feature to control is useless and counterproductive.

~snip

Fomo also exist in business, buy and selling and in so many other areas and activities of mankind, for example, I've meet business people who bought goods they are unable to sell out, tried finding out why they bought such goods in the first place, they say they saw people buying a lot of it from somewhere else and they felt it could become the latest trend, so they chartered lots of it because they fear to miss out if that ended up trending, but unfortunately, it did not trend and now, they are stuck with it..

So fomo is everywhere and not new to gambling and or betting, it's just that the term is not used much or even considered in gambling and betting.

This is so true, I've noticed this especially for a fast-selling product; if the product has a limited number, or in a promo that is either time based or limited, there will be a lot of FOMO so as to get the product within this window of time.

So yep, FOMO exists everywhere especially in the business/ trading world.

FOMO can be experienced by anxious people who worry about trivial things. A match comes on that they thought one team might win, they didn't place a bet, but their bet could have won if they had. This happens several times, and each time they don't place a bet, they think they're losing something, missing out on an opportunity. Then, in the next match, they place a bet but lose and they don't understand that this is exactly how betting works. Some teams will win, some will lose, and worrying about the bets you didn't place is pointless.

I do not use cash out. I do not watch most matches that I bet on. If I watch the matches, I am still not going to cash out. Just bet with the amount of money that you can afford to lose, which is also very little in a way that gambling will not be controlling you, but you controlling gambling. If you are using huge amount to gamble, it will still result to the same thing.

This is where I stand completely, betting with small money that even though I lost, it would be nothing. Though I did used the cash out system a certain time and it benefited me because it's been long I came such close to winning, and Manchester united I betted on to win the match were leading 1:0, but they weren't looking like a team that would win in full time, so when I got the privilege to cash out, I did cash out, and few minutes into the game, there opponents equalized and the game ended in draw.

What really made me go for the cash out was the fact that I had played games for months without a single win and no where near winning. So I had to take the opportunity to get a little refund from my looses. Else, it's always best to bet with little money and decide to stay within your bet while it's close to winning or Lossing, that even though it loses, you wouldn't worry about it.

Absolutely. Why place a bet if you’re planning to cash out? You took the risk and put your money down to make a profit right? So why not wait until the end and rely on luck?

Cashing out midway is one of the most foolish decisions anyone can make. If you have allocated a certain amount of money for gambling, then be prepared to gamble with that amount completely.

As for FOMO in betting, it happens everywhere in life. Sometimes you see an opportunity but miss it due to unforeseen circumstances. Get FOMO out of your head and trust your luck. Everything happens for the best, you just need to believe in yourself.
