Whether Satoshi was a single individual or not, to me, the idea and progress of Bitcoin is nothing short of a masterpiece.
Although, the success of Bitcoin was built on failed technology of cryptography, POW, P2P networking, the result is so far amazing and flawless for the years it has existed that it even continues to evolve to meet modern demands.

What I would consider as Satoshi's greatest stroke of genius is his disappearing act. No trace, no sign, no proof of who he was. Hence, Bitcoin became completely decentralized and in the hands of those who run the nodes, mine the blocks and hold the keys.

One thing I think needs to be made clear here, Bitcoin didn't just appear out of nowhere.  Satoshi reviewed all previous failed attempts to build an electronic cash system and identified their problems.  He knew exactly which problems needed to be solved to succeed in this.

It may have been a single person, he did not have to invent the entire mechanism in itself from scratch, there was years of work done in crypto systems, distributed systems, even the concepts like the Proof-of-Work mechanism had already been around for years before 2008.  The brilliance of Bitcoin was putting all those technologies, economics, and game theory components together to create an effective and seemingly flawless system.

I understand the sentiment, extraordinary achievement often looks impossible in hindsight. Bitcoin itself was created from decades of prior research. The most fascinating thing about satoshi wasn’t just the amount of knowledge he seemed to have but the ability to bring ideas from different fields together into one coherent system.

It's really such an amazing creation and an unbelievably genius creator who is able to build Bitcoin. Regardless if it's a team/group or a single person who created Bitcoin, it's undeniable that it takes a lot of understanding and expertise to understand the system and economy behind it.

There are a lot of smart people out there, but there are only fewer genius minds who can create or build something that could change thousand of lives. And since we don't know who Satoshi is, we also don't know what else he brought to the world aside from Bitcoin. Genius people don't just stop after creating one thing. Bitcoin is the best thing to ever happen to humanity, something that if a politician has the power to do he will never do it, because politics is taking control over everything, it's why I don't believe the rumour that FBI is involved with creation of BITCOIN, that's a nonsense FUD.
The issue I have with developers is how they can't learn from Satoshi Nakamoto, if OP could feel this way I bet it's same story with almost everyone who is into Bitcoin, but why can't other developers take same step like Nakamoto did?

The saying, the statement "We are Satoshi" was not said by people who claimed that they're Satoshi Nakamoto as founders of Bitcoin but from people who are Bitcoiners and I see it's somewhat right to say so.

If you have bitcoin, use Bitcoin blockchain, you can say you're Satoshi Nakamoto and there are many people like this in Bitcoin community, so they can say "We are Satoshi Nakamoto". Saying so does not need to mean they are the Bitcoin project's founders.

My current feeling on Satoshi's identity is:
 - Sassaman is a very bad candidate. If this is their conclusion, then they totally failed to do proper research.
 - 50% chance it's someone nobody's ever heard of, and nobody will ever figure it out
 - 35% chance it's Hal Finney. (Over time, I've moved more probability into this category.)
 - 10% chance it's someone else in the Bitcoin-verse
 - 5% chance it's a group within the CIA

Developing such a near-perfect money is something that blows my mind. Scholars would keep studying how Satoshi put together different principles to come up with Bitcoin. He was able to identify the loopholes of existing digital cash concepts and cryptographic protocols like eCash, b-money, Hashcash, and others. Definitely we respect Satoshi Nakamoto for his great creation. But really, we don't know either; he had a team, or he did everything alone. But almost we are pretty sure the Bitcoin idea came from his mind, so we can say he was the mastermind behind Bitcoin's creation. It hasn't been created in a single day; a lot of things are related to Bitcoin. It's just not a matter of deploying the code; he had to struggle a lot.

However, we should thank him for his creation. We learn financial freedom for Bitcoin and enjoy that as well.

Of course there was a team, he wasn't the only one who wrote all the Bitcoin code, there were contributors such as Andresen, Finney, Sirius and one other person I think. They weren't paid any salary, mostly contributed voluntarily but mined Bitcoin as at then; although, I'm not sure they all kept theirs like Satoshi, but they helped debug, and write some parts of the code.

Besides all the work on Bitcoin and the ability to bring a working project into circulation Satoshi
also gave us a master class in how to be (and remain ) anonymous.

Also a master class in being ultra generous, he* walked away from his* wallets containing and
absolute life changing amount of wealth, and in doing so giving us all the benefit of an even scarcer
amount of Bitcoin. To not return to claim those wallets is also a serious class in discipline.

The more I read about Bitcoin, the more I question how one person could have had such a deep understanding of so many different fields. To design Bitcoin, it’s not enough to be an excellent programmer. You also need a strong understanding of economics, monetary systems, cryptograpy, distributed systems, networking and security. Each of those are already a massive field on its own.

That’s what amazes me the most. Becoming highly skilled in software engineering is a huge achievement by itself. Developing a deep understanding of finance and monetary economics is another. Combining all of that into a system as elegant as Bitcoin seems almost unbelievable.

What fascinates me most about Satoshi and Bitcoin is; the tangible freedom it provides, and the importance of maintaining privacy. Furthermore, I am also impressed by Satoshi's willingness to sacrifice himself and not touch his Bitcoins after disappeared. Well, we don't know for sure what happened to Satoshi, but I believe he was a revolutionary hero who provided freedom and tried to alleviate the problems faced by centralized parties.

Essentially, Satoshi ideas were incredibly beneficial, and I consider him a decorated hero who poured his ideas into the creation of Bitcoin. What he did was not just a hope, but a "Real Action"; that is very beneficial to humanity, and I am sure it will continue to be so for the future. Personally, I was initially very surprised and curious about Satoshi and Bitcoin when I first learned that Bitcoin could be transacted anytime, anywhere, and without any restrictions at all.

The more I find out about Bitcoin, the more I am amazed by it (the person, included the idea). Sometimes, I often visit his profile on this forum, and often read his posts, even though I still don't understand many of the technical things. I hope his ideas will continue, and will not fade away through the Bitcoin he created.

You can't blame them though, as no one can say they really know who Satoshi is, so they are just working on assumption to ensure they pull Satoshi out, even though they don't have the proof or evidence to show that its a team and not a single person and I like its idea of being invisible, as he might suspected that the future will need help and the only he can ensure his help last, he decides to vanished and designed Bitcoin to be out of anyone's control and that is what I find very interesting.

There are people who work for their entire lives in any one of fields Satoshi studied. Secret codes, game theory, shared computing and money math. But putting them together in a way that really works and has been standing for 15 years is amazing by any standard.
Team theory is a valid one and has been taken seriously over the years. Tone of the early emails and the whitepaper has been completely studied to date, and there were no clear conclusions either for or against. The really interesting thing is that it doesnt really matter, unless it is really bad. Bitcoin was designed in way that it doesnt require its creator, after release. Perhaps it was all part of the plan. Remove a single point of failure and central authority from a system that has no point of failure, no central authority, and thus no single point of failure. It doesnt matter if it is one person or small group, true achievement is making process work without you.
