I think what you're saying makes a lot more sense than trying to force everyone to give advice that they ultimately don't listen to. So, I also agree that advice-givers shouldn't waste their time on people who think they're superior and don't need advice from others, so they can experience the consequences of ignoring their best advice. Furthermore, people who ignore advice often feel embarrassed to ask the same person again when they begin to face the consequences of their own wrong decisions.
I think it is our responsibility to give people the right advice, if he is a person close to you then explain things to him twice or thrice instead of once so that he does not face great danger by taking wrong decisions. Our responsibility is to give the right advice but if he understands then it is only good for him and if he does not understand and sticks to his decision and acts accordingly then it is completely his responsibility and the harm will be due to his own wrong decision and no one else can be held responsible for it. You have given him good advice but it is completely his own matter to accept it, if the person is aware then he will take the right advice according to your words and save himself from great harm.
Explaining a couple of times is only advised when the person seem interested in getting more clarity while trying to caution them on the risk involved in cloud backups for seedphrases or private keys. Some persons are only careful after the become victims to circumstances. I am of the opinion that people who take advises are those who are not lazy to research and verify information but for those who prefer to trust people the feel have succeeded in the crypto space without verifying or doing any research might consider some advise given to them by close relatives or friends as substandard.

Actually, saving the recovery phrase of the wallet on the cloud platform is the biggest stupidity. The thing is, the cloud platform they were using was later shut down, due to which they faced this problem.

Now if your cloud account gets hacked, then all your information will be leaked and someone else will get access to your wallet. Since this is all digital, we should have some faith in ourselves and not be completely online-based.

How foolish people still have to be to write down their wallet recovery phrase on cloud platforms like this. A wallet is a safe place to store money but if we cannot keep the recovery phrase of that wallet safely with awareness then losing the money is also normal.

Online platforms are always in a risky position anyway. Even after that if we are not aware about wallet security, then there will be no way except telling a sad story. Technology is evolving, the methods of fraud are changing and the scammers are also getting updated. So keeping all of these things in mind, we have to protect ourselves through awareness at every moment.

I stopped talking about some privacy tips when i found out some people actually do things on purpose, neglecting the risks involved. Their actions are sadly not justified by ignorance, but by the belief that certain risks are very unlikely to happen.

Both cloud storage, Google accounts, and anything that will bring keys online is unsafe, this is common knowledge. Anybody scammed because of this actually deserves to be harmed and should be without pity.

How possible might that be for a cloud shutdown to the point that, their data becomes irrecoverable. I don’t think that’s how cloud services do work. Cloud services experiences outages once in a while but, it lasts just for few minutes and sections of it can be working.

It’s still a very bad idea to save sensitive information on the clouds, you risk loosing all of it in the event of a hack and the vulnerability doesn’t necessarily need to come from you and that’s the scary part.

Could it be that the cloud services always have backup? or you might need a higher subscription to be able to have that, although still wrong to store precious information in the cloud, just like what you said hack might happen to the provider and that will expose everything, even with backup the information is already been stole, so to avoid this create your own local storage with good security if you want to to be there but keeping them locally, if you still want it to be in a soft copy?

Usually those cloud services have backups, but that actually does not solve those real issues.

Since once you decide to stored your data on  someone else server. You are fully trusting their policies, legal obligations and also their security. Then problem starts when there's hacking issue. Since there's a chance that those data's might get stolen.

So to avoid this, we better do some good action to handle those matters on our own and do those things you have said. Then do some actions to  enhance the protection or making it more secure instead of relying on the service what those platform can provide.

Yes, but who will teach this to all those dumb people who believe convenience is everything and that they are just saving their seed phrase in their Gmail account? Of course, it's their fault if they accept this and save their seed in the cloud and eventually lose their assets if their account gets compromised, but the thing is that they lack the necessary knowledge to acknowledge and understand this. First of all, someone with enough knowledge about these things will not store large amounts in wallets where they are not given access to their private keys, a seed phrase of an online wallet is not that useful anyway, because you can't import that into any other wallet software.

However, the companies are also to be blamed for this to offer people this thing knowing that it could be risky, but who will tell them this either? It's their wallet, so it's their choice, and it's our choice to either use it or not, and even if we use it, it is our responsibility to make sure that we use it the right way, which is to save lower amounts in it, and secondly, save our seed phrase somewhere safe and not inside a digital account that we use almost everywhere on the internet.

That is how some people behave and when their mistakes have ruined their lives, that is when they will start to seek  advice or help when they could have avoided it completely, because they neglected to apply the right principles. That is why people ought to take the right steps before doing anything else because knowing what to do and doing it correctly really helps aviod costly mistakes that will cause them unnecessary stress.

It is better you read and make proper research before you secure your asset on a particular backup storage to avoid losing your funds at anytime.
This is thing that gives investors issues...lack of research, inability to figures out disadvantages of investment platform before they invest...Most times newbies only concentrate on the sugarcoated advantages given by the builder of a platform and they picks up Internet to invest, that's what make most of them to ends up entering the traps of scam investment platforms

In normal investment routine, An invest have to make a proper researching to know how transparent is the investment platform before he or she will embark on investment, but most of us do carried away by excitement of what we will benefit from the investment, without considering the effects and negative side of the investment before we invest..

I’m also seeing backup manually there, I don’t know what the issue is actually, someone who’s knowledgeable about cryptos will just click on backup manually and save his seed phrase where he can control it. The reason we learn here is to know what to do when we come across moments like this in our online interactions with platforms like the you’re talking about.

I completely agree with you; storing sensitive data in the cloud (including seed phrases) is a huge mistake, and leaves it highly vulnerable to hacking attacks. Furthermore, user negligence can lead to financial loss. Most incidents occur because the data is connected to the internet (online), as we know; the wisest approach as a solution is to store sensitive data offline, and keep it securely protected.

By the way, could you provide some references for me to read ? I am curious about the specific details of these cases, and want to gather key information regarding them, particularly concerning the user errors that created the vulnerabilities.

He was willing to take the risk simply because it is Robinhood, they are big he said again, but there is no such thing as been big when it comes to your recovery seed I told him, I think this will probably safe one or two beginners on here too.

Cloud storage is a wrong place for your recovery seed, do not be misleaded by centralised crypto companies who are acting like they know what's best for everyone.

There are people out there who will have to learn the lessons by themselves before they will be able to understand certain consequences and when i see such persons, i allow them to learn by experience because every attempt to get them to do other wise can sometimes be misinterpreted by them to be your personal interest in their asset or their coins. Cloud and online storage generally of seed phrase are never a good way of storage, except if it happens that  such wallet is not holding very large asset, or you use it for the purpose of small transactions and will be needing it often. it is always best to take your seed phrase storage offline. If you educate someone about it and they insist that they want to try out the online form of storage, then you can allow them go ahead and maybe learn form it.

I completely agree with you, some people will become better when they learn the hard way because this kind of people won't adhere to any advice given to them until they learn the hard way. So, that is why when I see someone like that, I will allow them to have a taste of their actions before helping them and that way, they will learn or be more willing to learn and ensure they do research before making any decisions and it makes them easier to understand because of the experience they had, the lesson sticks in their memory as they will be applying the right mindset to any decision they make.

Absolutely right some people will learn from their own experience more than learn from what others advice them, just as the saying goes “ Experience is the best teacher” and that right because if we think it through deeply we can agree that as a human we get to learn much from our experiences than when we are being thought. When we experience things that ain’t good at all we begin to make sure we don’t fall into same circumstances again and we avoid things that will attracts such circumstances but when people advice us about something’s we just give them deaf ears like we don’t actually care at all but with experience we understand more better.

There are basic information that every newbie in the crypto space should know, even outside cryptocurrency anything that have to do with online should be well informed so that they wouldn't fall prey to scammers who are increasing online. One if the lessons to learn is not to store any personal and sensitive information online because there is a chance that the platform could be hacked in the future which would make you vulnerable to hackers attack. Do not totally trust any third parties to hold your passwords to your devices online including your seed phrase to access your wallet, to be forewarned is to be forearmed, better to be on the safe side by saving your personal information offline.

Are you saying mistakes should not happen to anyone in this forum? There are some newbies that will learn from their mistakes before they will start improving in this crypto industry, because they have learned from their mistakes. Sometimes you will think you are in the wrong way until you lost some crypto before you will realize that the mistakes is from you and it will make you change positively.

Some would say it doesn't really cost anything to be more careful or to add an extra later of carefulness in whatever we do, while some would argue that it does really cost alot to be careful. Some people just do things on purpose. Some don't really care. Some, it won't happen, while to some, I can't handle it or find a way around it if somehow happens, etc.

All these assumptions gets someone into more problems. Of our, you can't predict tomorrow, hence, been more careful is more important. You know, it's much more easier and comfortable to save in Google account rather than type manually each time you want to log in? At some point, scammers are very trikish, but if we can employ a more careful approach while handling our online assets, use the right means despite stressful sometimes, just maybe, we could be 70% free from scam activities

By the way, could you provide some references for me to read ? I am curious about the specific details of these cases, and want to gather key information regarding them, particularly concerning the user errors that created the vulnerabilities.
This is a case a few years ago where a man lost a large sum of money as a result of storing seed phrases on a third party, in Apple's iCloud.

Of course there are many other cases.

If the seed phrase has been stored not in your own hands then it is not your coin, you are risking a big risk to the assets you have, for me it feels stupid if someone does it let alone has seen this kind of news.
Remains the most excellent offline storage for your own keys.

It is actually hard for people to take precautions on their personal information especially that which concerns to their privacy keys, I don't see how someone should be that foolish enough to store their personal information on apple iCloud knowing to well that information could be leaked or expose. Of course,. offline is the best place to store their seedphrase jot it down and duplicate them into various places that you alone has access to it than having to store them on one personal devices.
