I experienced this same backup of recovery phrase to google drive when i was creating trust wallet. So for trust wallet and Robinhood to have google drive back up of recovery phrase i think it is google that integrate it there. However, backing up recovery phrase to google drive is totally wrong it is the easiest way to lose your coin to an unknown person, if someone breaks through your google account or your google account get exposed through the website you logged in, a third party can have access to your recovery phrase, and you will lose your coins. The best way to backup recovery phrase and protect it from someone not to see it is to back it up offline.
Just like the topic says, if you get mislead it's your fault.  When i first started making research about bitcoin during the first one hour I came across the topic wallet and there it boldly warned me about the the dangers of using a cloud storage and saving your seed phrase on your device. From that instance I understood that was a mistake that shouldn't be attended if I want peace of mind. Though the cloud storage and copy-paste to device can be very easy but the truth is, easy can be dangerous as well. My advice to the newbies is that they shouldn't take comfort over the right thing that is required of them to give them peace of mind.

Yeah that's right anything that has an internet connection can ba hacked or compromised that why private keys and seed phrasesbare to be kept offline away from internet connection. The most secured form of storing our assets and keys is to use an offline wallet where it can be kept away from internet hacks.
Whoever choose not to listen to advise has themselves to blame for whatever happens, if they end up losing their assets because of their carelessness then good for them. Owning some coins is not the only important thing but also how you safeguard them is what important. Doing anything wrong will make you lose your assets and then what's there to protect? That will be the end. The safety of our asset should be treated with utmost seriousness.
The enormous amount we have stored in crypto is absolutely something we should process and know in the market, owning them is half the responsibility it comes with and also ensuring it's been kept safe is another thing. The market is for everybody and we should be able to point our weaknesses in the market.

Come to think of it, why would anyone want their secret 12 private phrases be leak to the public? Remember the world we lived in today is all occupied with scammers. We're not just ready to face what's coming for us when we mislead our keys in the market and if these keys falls into the wrong hands, alot of things imagine able can happen.

As the day passes by, we're learning the basis of the market and one thing which is very crucial to do is safeguarding your portfolio, ensuring you keep every credentials of your phrases stored in a distinguish hard wallet. Safety is important and it's high time every trader knows what is involved in the market.

The mistake that a lot of folks often make is allowing their convenience to come at the expense of their security, and this often where they miss it. Yeah, understanding the technical aspects of Bitcoin may not be a compulsory criteria for getting started, but it’s a necessity if you want to continue investing and to create a safe space for yourself and your investment, that being said, learning how wallets and seed phrases work is a necessity for every beginner who have started invested, and not just to blindly choose the easiest option, simply because it appears to be more convenient and stress free for them.

Only those that don’t value their asset will save their recovery phrase in cloud storage or those that don’t understand how security works in this space . Securing your asset should be among your top , if not your top priority cause when you lose your asset due to carelessness is gone forever , that’s how things work in this space cause is not a friendly you have to equipped yourself with the right knowledge in order to survive this space , if not you will just keep being victim of different circumstances.

How to secure your assets should be one of the most important thing a trader will do, becusse without been knowledgeable on the part there is no way he will be able to save his assets due to how important that part is for him. As a beginner when preparing to invest after knowing fully how to invest that he will still have learn how to secure the invested money.

Which taking care of your wallet security, is really very important because without that you can't stay here for that fact you will be loosing your money. Your seed phrase is investment because it so important.

I don't see reason why this is being difference from the centralised exchange. Just a way of twisting things and to confuse newbies in the space. I just can't fantom why people will be this lazy even with storing and securing their own funds and just have confidence in third party savings or saves and leaving to take full responsibility of their crypto portfolio but just enjoys having it in someone else's custody.

Always remember, we always have the final say. Despite all the warnings being posted on the internet, the user still has the final action of whether proceeding or not with their decision. That is exactly the reason on why users who are relatively new in the crypto space, or even veterans, should always exercise due diligence.

Like what I previously mentioned, 95% of the basic scams can be easily avoided by just understanding on how they operate. If someone sends you a random message containing a suspicious link, do not click it. If there are multiple threads containing warnings about the usage of cloud storage, then it's practically your fault if you fall victim to it.

In conclusion, this forum exists for lots of reasons and one of those is for topics such as this one. If you still fall pray to a scam related to cloud storage, then you should know who to blame in this position.

What really scared me most is when I remember about a past incident. Someone hired a hacker to hack my email account and every time I reset the email password and logged into email somehow the hacker would gain access to the account again. At one point I had to completely abandon that email.

If somehow I had backed up one of my wallets with that email then he could have somehow accessed my wallet and taken all the funds. Since passwords are often stored in email they might get the password from there and perhaps guess my recovery password. That’s why Google Drive backup doesn’t really fall under non-custodial in any way.

The very first thing we need to understand while we step into crypto market is that entire responsibility of security of our crypto assets in on our shoulders because there is not way to recover them once we lost them. If someone gets familiar with this concept very early on then he won't regret later. Generally it is observed that when people are new to crypto and don't have much crypto assets in their wallet they take security for granted until they are hit by some scam. Whether you are new or old in crypto, you must not compromise on security of your wallet.

Weak password? Linked phone numbers? Password hints.

These are major reasons emails gets hacked. I know it's easy to get past some passwords with some special tools but if you combined extra verification and log out of all available sessions you might have been able to remove the hacker fully from your email. Knowledge I guess.

There's really nothing safe once it gets online. Some people may say they changed their minds and deleted their data from the cloud, but is it really gone? Once your data is stored in a database, you can't always be sure it's completely deleted, even when you think it is.

Never store your seed phrase in the cloud. That's one of the first lessons every beginner should learn when it comes to securing their keys.

FWIW, I don't mind cloud storage for encrypted backups as is the case here. Meself have encrypted password manager backups saved on Google drive, even if somebody gets access to this backup files, they can't do anything without knowing the password to access the file which is known alone by me — which makes this safe. Have good encryption password though.
