I experienced this same backup of recovery phrase to google drive when i was creating trust wallet. So for trust wallet and Robinhood to have google drive back up of recovery phrase i think it is google that integrate it there. However, backing up recovery phrase to google drive is totally wrong it is the easiest way to lose your coin to an unknown person, if someone breaks through your google account or your google account get exposed through the website you logged in, a third party can have access to your recovery phrase, and you will lose your coins. The best way to backup recovery phrase and protect it from someone not to see it is to back it up offline.
Just like the topic says, if you get mislead it's your fault.  When i first started making research about bitcoin during the first one hour I came across the topic wallet and there it boldly warned me about the the dangers of using a cloud storage and saving your seed phrase on your device. From that instance I understood that was a mistake that shouldn't be attended if I want peace of mind. Though the cloud storage and copy-paste to device can be very easy but the truth is, easy can be dangerous as well. My advice to the newbies is that they shouldn't take comfort over the right thing that is required of them to give them peace of mind.

Having your recovery phrase backed to your google account is just like tasting the faith of scammers. It has been a precised information in the crypto space that the best way to store your recovery phrase is offline or a cold storage method.Funnily enough how newbies get into the crypto space and think they can initiate their random knowledge to the crypto space even with the random knowledge don’t they sense suspicious activity. For instance like the traditional banking system, they’re certain credentials you don’t reveal in other not to get your account compromised so that same knowledge should be applied to your digital wallet.Lastly, avoid tokens that requires more of your login credentials infact avoid them entirely.
