I Made a Free Web Game to Learn Bitcoin by Playing (Beta, Looking for Feedback)

Most people learn about Bitcoin by reading articles, books, or watching long videos. I wondered if it could be learned in a different way: by actually playing a game.

So I decided to build it myself.

The result is a free browser game where you learn Bitcoin through an interactive story and mini-games instead of simply reading theory.

The game is still in beta and currently includes:

A world-based progression system.
Interactive lessons about what Bitcoin is, why it was created, who Satoshi Nakamoto is, and what a satoshi is.
Mini-games that teach concepts through gameplay instead of traditional quizzes.
A glossary that tracks your learning progress.
XP, collectibles, achievements, and unlockable items.
Local save system (no account required).

The game does not require connecting a wallet, does not ask for private keys, and never handles real funds. Everything runs locally in your browser.

I'm developing this project on my own, so I'm sure there are things I haven't noticed yet.

If you decide to try it, I'd really appreciate your honest feedback, especially about:

Did you get bored at any point?

What would you improve?

I originally shared this project in the Spanish section of the forum. The feedback I received was incredibly helpful, and several members encouraged me to translate it and post it here as well. So I'd love to hear what this community thinks too.

I tried to test it for a little bit, then I ended up completing the first two chapters. It felt immersive and was very educational, as it does a great job at introducing the basic concepts of Bitcoin. I think it's definitely a fun and interesting way for beginners to learn.

Which part did you enjoy the most?

Completing the dictionary, collecting all of the awards, and finding all the secrets (way easier to notice in mobile).

What would you improve?

Additional links for further reading. In the backpack items for example, "The Document" could redirect to the actual Bitcoin whitepaper. And then for the dictionary, it would be nice if you can still review a concept even after you've mastered it.

Considering that users still have to read, after a while, it became somewhat boring for me ^{[other users might have a different opinion on this one]}, but I think you can easily improve it by using a text-to-speech tool in the explanation & storytelling parts ^{[there are a lot of free ones that don't sound robotic]} and to top it off, a relaxing background sound would be nice as well.

Thank you all for taking the time to play the game and share such detailed feedback. I'm really glad you enjoyed it, especially since the main goal was to make learning the basics of Bitcoin feel more interactive and engaging for beginners.

TypoTonic, I'm happy to hear you enjoyed completing the dictionary, collecting the awards, and finding the secrets. I really like your idea about adding links for further reading. I think connecting items like "The Document" directly to the Bitcoin whitepaper would be a great addition. I'll also look into making mastered dictionary concepts available for review again.

SFR10, that's a very good point. Even though the game includes mini-games, there is still quite a bit of reading, and I understand how that can become tiring after a while. Adding text-to-speech and relaxing background audio could make the storytelling sections more engaging. I'll definitely consider this for a future update.

Your feedback is really valuable to me. I'm building this project on my own, so getting different perspectives from people who are actually playing it helps me see things I might otherwise miss.

Great idea for a game! I tried it out for a little bit.

And have a suggestion that you could perhaps think about whether or not it would improve your game:

Your game seems to be a "learn on the fly then repeat the answer"-kind of game. Why not first have the player learn about Bitcoin in a separate documentation which is not a game but more of a "study book". When the player has studied it enough, they can play the game and in the end there would be a high-score table with "players who knew the most". Everyone would want to get to the top.

To make it harder to cheat with AI answers, maybe include a fixed time to read and answer the question as well as a bot check before users can enter the website.

If you add like 100 questions, ranging from low level knowledge to high level expert knowledge, I am sure people would have fun, competing with each other just to see their name on the "players who knew the most" table.
