Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, but some people try to separate bitcoin from cryptocurrencies because of what altcoins are today. I am not referring to stable coins.

Bitcoin is a store of value, almost all altcoins are not store of value. Most altcoins are pumped and dumped heavily in a way they are not getting to all-time high.

Some people called most altcoins to be gambling. Some people see most altcoins as modern day pyramidal scheme.

Although, bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, but it is very different.

The topic above was that bitcoin is not crypto. But how is that?

Why is Bitcoin not a cryptocurrency, but all cryptocurrency cannot be Bitcoin, this is where the definition comes more broader, in cryptocurrency, all you may need to do is to remove bitcoin and everything turns to altcoins, this is why every other coin in cryptocurrency will not act the same way bitcoin does, everything about bitcoin is uniquely different and outstanding from any other altcoins, while the reason for crypto is Bitcoin.

The impression about you, OP, is as if you haven't read the posts of those who respond to the topic that caused your misunderstanding. If you had taken the time to read the answers, you would have made a correct understanding for yourself that people consider Bitcoin to be a separate cryptocurrency, since it is difficult to put it on a par with all alternative coins that cannot achieve all the advantages of Bitcoin even by half. Nevertheless, Bitcoin remains a cryptocurrency, the first, the only, and unique; everything else is a faint resemblance, something that someone is trying to recreate with all the advantages of using but having certain disadvantages.

Read that OP topic; it's answered by the same users to whom you ask a question in this topic.

You are right, and you understand it clearly that bitcoin is also a crypto. And there are a lot of classifications for different cryptocurrencies. You named most of them and can be said that meme coins = shitcoins. Now that you've got a confirmation from other members that bitcoin is also a crypto, kindly lock the topic/thread as it has served its purpose. You can see the lock topic on below left.

Yes the majority would address bitcoin as a cryptocurrency, then while few enthusiasts would oppose that bitcoin is bitcoin and doesn’t fall under the category of a cryptocurrency.Though most of those enthusiasts have their reasons why they don’t consider bitcoin as a cryptocurrency, probably because of the difference between bitcoin and altcoins/shitcoins.Bitcoin is quite different from all those tokens and projects in the crypto space, for instance most altcoins/shitcoins developers are widely known across the globe for instance Vitalik Buterin who is widely known as the inventor of the Ethereum blockchain project but the inventor of bitcoin is unknown neither has he been seen in a podcast.Anyways, you can refer bitcoin as a cryptocurrency because it was the first successful crypto to be created.

Some people might misunderstand the terms, when they hear others using it. We try as much as possible not to classify bitcoin amongst other cryptocurrency because it is superior to them all. They are all called crypto, they are all digital currency. But what makes bitcoin better are it's outstanding features that cannot be compared to altcoins. Most altcoins tries to copy bitcoin, both in price and quality. But at the end of the day, they just do not fit in places where bitcoin would stand out. That's why when you hear people trying not to call bitcoin cryptocurrency, they don't want it to fit in same category as altcoins which majorly experience pump and dump schemes and are much volatile..

Bitcoin is addressed as crypto currency because it's as a CURRENCY or VALUES is built on the core of cryptography to facilitate on the decentralized network of bitcoin and blockchain.
So the AltCoins are too. The common sense there's that any coin digital currency fundamental wirh crypto assets can be called crypto currency.
In my opinion bitcoin being the first successful, most potential values and most dominance crypto currency deemed to be acknowledged unique from other crypto currenccies for the common purpose of recognising it as a the pride of decentralized monetary network.

Like it’s said people are actually trying not have bitcoin in a category of cryptocurrency just because of the other coins which most of them there protocols are almost against bitcoin principle, but let’s be sincere there is no way bitcoin can be separated  from the general tag of cryptocurrency because bitcoin is even the coin leading all the cryptocurrency not only because it’s actually the first cryptocurrency coin but it’s the one other coins follow even in market trend. If cryptocurrency is mentioned anywhere even those who are yet to adopt bitcoin are quick to label any cryptocurrency discussion a bitcoin thing, I don’t think this classification will ever stop, because bitcoin is actually a cryptocurrency

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, but the reason why it is not called cryptocurrency is so that newcomers do not get confused. For example, let me give a real example. When we sit in a group of friends, we often call our friends by different names, but they understand who is being called, but a new person will not understand this different name.

Similarly, when a new one hears the word cryptocurrency, he may think that all coins in the market are bitcoins or he may face a confusing situation, so we all prefer to call Bitcoin as Bitcoin instead of cryptocurrency.

Being a bitcoin maximalist isn't a very bad title though, of course it saves you from meddling with counterproductive shitcoins that pollute the crypto industry. I rather hold only bitcoin than waste my time on a lot of altcoins of which can never measure up.
Irrespective of the fact that some Altcoins are still useful in their applications and not all are very bad projects, but bitcoin still deserves a unique classification based on it's incomparable features of which no other cryptocurrency can dream of measuring up with yet nor in the near future.

A leader should be given special recognition and bitcoin earned it as the leading cryptocurrency.

I have read your mentioned thread; it seems you misunderstood his expression. Crypto is an industry, and Bitcoin is also a crypto. Bitcoin is crypto by nature since it's built on blockchain with cryptographic algorithms. You may search the internet about Bitcoin, and you may get the correct answers.

The OP has been talking about some other shitcoins that have been using cryptographic algorithms as well. Probably he is scared of the shitcoins, and that's the reason he made this kind of topic. I have noticed the topic has been locked either by a moderator or by the OP himself. So no doubt Bitcoin is cryptocurrency; such questions on the forum about Bitcoin don't make sense.

Technically Bitcoin is actually a cryptocurrency, but people want it to be separated and be called on its own name so that people especially those new ones will not get confused with other scam alts.

Also some other people deny that Bitcoin is not crypto, maybe because they think its different when in terms of fundamentally, because some other coins or alts are been created just to scam people. What unique about Bitcoin is it only have 21M fixed supply and created on purposed to be an alternative with fiat, which cannot be controlled by government. Also Bitcoin remain credible while other crypto are still in questionable state. That's why when it comes on adoption Bitcoin always stands among those thousands of other cryptocurrencies available in the market.

Obviously the attributes of Bitcoin via its essence of an asset with the potential to store values and hedges against inflations.
It is also noted that aside Bitcoin, there are other existing cryptocurrency which their market value performance are very weak withstand the storms in the long term without fading out to dumping due to high level of the alt coins volatility.

And due to the approaches happening in the industry, there had been so much unreliable coins that had to be classified differently so that it does not affect the image of Bitcoin.
Else, they are all cryptocurrency.

Yeah... many people want to separate Bitcoin and crypto, although it is the same digital currency but for maximalists this is different.

Previously I had come across the term "Bitcoin is crypto, not all crypto is considered bitcoin" I forgot the name of the article explaining this because it was just a quick look. Cheesy

A beginner would consider this part of crypto.
A Bitcoin OG or Bitcoin maximalist is clearly different they want to separate his.

The topic above was that bitcoin is not crypto. But how is that?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5583041.0

And it seems to me that bitcoin is also a crypto, it's just the most important coin. And as far as I see in public, there are bitcoin, altcoins and shitcoins - I apologize if I misunderstood something. Bitcoin is always called a cryptocurrency in the news.
This argument was based on the creation or influx of scam coins into the industry, “shitcoins”; therefore, in order to try to separate Bitcoin from this mess, many argued that Bitcoin is different.

But what makes Bitcoin seem different from other cryptocurrencies is its distinctive difference from other cryptocurrencies, such as its transparency; it's truly decentralized and the most secure cryptocurrency out there.

Why is Bitcoin a cryptocurrency? We have understood the term “cryptocurrency,” which is a combination of two words;
Crypto+currency→Cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin is cryptocurrency because it uses cryptography to secure its transactions on the blockchain.
Therefore, Bitcoin, being the very first crypto to be created, every other cryptocurrency after Bitcoin is called alternative coins.

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency. And, yeah, as you've put it, "just like everything else". However, the quoted phrase is exactly the reason why some won't call Bitcoin a cryptocurrency. There's danger in lumping Bitcoin together with the rest.

While cryptocurrency is divided between Bitcoin and altcoins, to casually group them together as if they're the same is to seemingly disregard the world of differences--serious, fundamental, core--between Bitcoin and altcoins. To a great extent, it's risky and misleading to find Bitcoin on a list which includes Fartcoin, Trump Coin, Boobcoin, and countless others.

My advice for you is to always read comments under every topics you come across to have better understanding of what people are truly thinking, the answers will speak out loud to you through those comments.

Do not mind people saying that Bitcoin is not crypto, it's because Bitcoin is different, most reliable , successful, that's why these people don't want to call Bitcoin a crypto coin, truly it is a cryptocurrency.

Anything that runs on a Blockchain is cryptocurrency to me, their utilities is what speaks them differently, stablecoin or privacy coin,, or exchange tokens, etc, Bitcoin stands out because of it's truthful potential, it doesn't deceives like the rest..

Cryptocurrencies are for all, from Bitcoin to altcoins. Altcoins themselves in full names are alternate or alternative cryptocurrencies.

There are many differences between Bitcoin and altcoins which are abundant in numbers as hundreds of thousands, in names from Bitcoin forks to Ethereum forks, and from noisy nicknames like Bitcoin killers or Ethereum killers.

Their difference is from project purposes like most altcoins were created to scam, and they succeeded to scam people while don't create anything new, innovative or helpful for people.

Difference is also like Bitcoin has still survived well, and not only this it also grown up stronger with time despite of a half of thousand of "Bitcoin is dead".
While altcoins don't need such attacks, they self-die, automatically die with time as scammers from the start did not intend to stay too long time with scam projects.
