The topic above was that bitcoin is not crypto. But how is that?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5583041.0

And it seems to me that bitcoin is also a crypto, it's just the most important coin. And as far as I see in public, there are bitcoin, altcoins and shitcoins - I apologize if I misunderstood something. Bitcoin is always called a cryptocurrency in the news.

I believe the author of the linked thread is confused between alternative currency and cryptocurrency.  It is possible that he thinks alternative cryptocurrencies are the so called crypto and crypto is not Bitcoin which we all know is partially true.

It has been explained to him that Bitcoin is under the umbrellaa of cryptocurrency but to whatever reason,  I find it hard for him to absorb the factual explanation of many members that explained the reason why Bitcoin is crypto.

The impression about you, OP, is as if you haven't read the posts of those who respond to the topic that caused your misunderstanding. If you had taken the time to read the answers, you would have made a correct understanding for yourself that people consider Bitcoin to be a separate cryptocurrency, since it is difficult to put it on a par with all alternative coins that cannot achieve all the advantages of Bitcoin even by half. Nevertheless, Bitcoin remains a cryptocurrency, the first, the only, and unique; everything else is a faint resemblance, something that someone is trying to recreate with all the advantages of using but having certain disadvantages.

Read that OP topic; it's answered by the same users to whom you ask a question in this topic.

I think the one confusing in the linked post is the use of the term crypto.  We all know that crypto is short for cryptocurrency, so if we are referring to alternative cryptocurrency, it should be called altcoin or alternative crypto.  Saying crypto alone implies the person is talking about the whole cryptocurrency, Bitcoin included.

With so much explanation already provided, you should be able to understand that Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, and how it differs from Altcoins. However, even though Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, if you want to be more precise, especially in discussions about Bitcoin, you need to differentiate between them. If you refer to "cryptocurrency," people will be confused because it's too broad. So be more specific by saying "Bitcoin" or "Altcoin," because they are fundamentally different.

Bitcoin is a very powerful currency that you don’t want to share its name with other altcoins. It is very distinctive from them and when trying to generalize them, you’ll feel you haven’t done justice to what Bitcoin has become as of today. When you talk of altcoin, you’ve already separated bitcoin from the list and should be treated explicitly from the rest (altcoin). Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency and it was already at the time of its invention thousands miles ahead of any other altcoins that which came to be today. So they can’t beat the reach and separating the names like this is better understood and well explanative to even a lay man.

The word cryptocurrency is a vague word which points majorly to shitcoins. This is the reason why you need to different Bitcoin from them by just saying Bitcoin instead of crypto. I believe this is the reason why people wouldn't agree with you that bitcoin is crypto because its unique features that made if entirely different from shitcoins. When you say cryptocurrency, I believe you're talking about shitcoins.

Technically, it is not wrong to call Bitcoin a cryptocurrency. The best I can say is that Bitcoin is a successful Cryptocurrency.

For me, the real problem is not the word but the problem is today's crypto industry. In 2009, Bitcoin was alone. Later, thousands of altcoin, ICOs, memecoin and VC-backed token came along and polluted the word crypto in such a way that now the non tech people is scared when they hear the name of cryptocurrency. Thinking of something illegal that can turn a person into destitute in minutes.

I will not deny that 99% of altcoin or memecoin in the market are shitcoin. But in the crowd of fake projects, it is not right to make the whole word Cryptocurrency synonymous with shitcoin.
If you find some counterfeit currency or fake notes while shopping in the market, would you claim that the entire cash or fiat money system is fake? It is ridiculous Cheesy

That's right. The primary problem is that people often think that when they heard crypto, it becomes too broad. It's becoming that every crypto now describes as Bitcoin, a place of blockchain projects and outright scams. Most like that is the reason why some choose to explain or Bitcoin is described as Bitcoin, and crypto if they refer to any other crypto related topics. This might be the way they have found not to prolong the conversation and make it easier for other people to separate them as different topics.

Well if we think technically Bitcoin is actually a cryptocurrency. In fact Bitcoin is the first successful cryptocurrency so I call it the father of all cryptocurrencies. many people say bitcoin isn't a cryptocurrency it is because they don't want to mix bitcoin with other shit coin which also right, i think because of how they perform and their motive to create altcoins make it different from bitcoin.  I think Altcoin is the reason many bitcoin supporter dislike calling bitcoin a cryptocurrency.

I agree that technically, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, and I don't have any reason to deny that. It was the first cryptocurrency and established the groundwork for all the cryptocurrencies which followed. But many Bitcoiners would like to distance themselves from the broader crypto market, since the majority of the altcoins have been created for various purposes, decentralization and risk factors. In the years since a multitude of altcoins have emerged. And vanished while Bitcoin has stayed the most secure. And trustworthy network. While Bitcoin falls under cryptocurrencies. It has proven to be a different animal from most of the other cryptocurrencies in terms of its track record, adoption, and decentralization.

This is not true, crypto and cryptocurrency mean the same thing.
Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, any other cryptocurrency that is not Bitcoin are alternate currency or Altcoins.
If people choose to believe otherwise, that goes for them but calling Bitcoin a cryptocurrency is absolute true.

I understand all this, but if the word cryptocurrency is so important to Bitcoin, then why didn't Satoshi Nakamoto used this crypto fukin currency word even once in his famous 9-page Bitcoin Whitepaper?

You have to understand that technical definition and community language don't always line up.

Almost all cryptocurrencies in the market have CEOs, foundations, and premines. Does Bitcoin have these? Bitcoin is not a registered company or corporation that anyone can impose any unwanted decisions on it. Nor did Satoshi or any other co-founder secretly create some coins for themselves before opening the project to general public. So first of all, you have to see how the community uses this word, only then will you understand whether to call it a cryptocurrency or not.
