What’s is the biggest lie we are told?

The biggest thing society is making people to do, is to make them chase after money at all cost. I know money is very important but losing your peace of mind, family and good health just because you want to be successful in life is totally unacceptable. Another thing society pushes people to do is, the pressure to meet a certain age milestones. Society may make you Feel that if you’ve not bought a house, marry, or have a good paying job, then you have failed. The truth is that life isn’t a race.

Every individual has their own time, and a different journey. As I have grown to understand life, life is all about balance. If you have money that you can take care of yourself and your family, you have peace of mind, and you have good people around you, you have really achieved a lot of things, that rich people are still looking for.  So, instead of chasing after things that society is  recognized as success, the best thing is to define your success with what gives you fulfillment.

I was told that once a girl at puberty gets close to men she would become pregnant. I believe our parents did not know how to teach sex education and that was why they came up with that.

Lol I heard that one too. At least your parents were kind enough to tell you that this was only applicable to girls that have reached the stage of puberty. Back then, we were told that even as kids, girls would get pregnant if they went close to a man or someone of the opposite gender, they’re immediately get pregnant     and growing up to really learn how women get pregnant and comparing it with the terrifying lies that we were told as kids just made me laugh real hard. Although I believe that was the best way parents then felt they’ll better keep their kids safe from indulging in premarital relationships at a tender age.

Instead of assuming its just lies or that our parent do not know how to teach sex education, why not look at the issue from a different perspective? Because we were too young to understand the issue at the time, and was explaining everything in detail really necessary or would it have only made us more curious?

Their approach may not have been accurate, but it was probably the simplest way to protect us when we were young. I do not see anything wrong with what they taught us because it was appropriate for our age at the time, and the main purpose was still to protect us.

The media have brainwashed us into believing that beauty is having a slim stature, radiant skin, graceful movement, and so on. This made me focus on women with such descriptions. I have grown to know that true beauty is not determined by just physical appearance. Everyone should have their own benchmark for classifying beauty, not from the media or an organisation. Now, I try to get close to people to observe their behaviour instead of depending solely on physical appearance.

These luckily change over time, and it's not like they are affecting to everyone. Only to people who seek to fit in and be "fashionable". Like for an example in Europe from 14th to 19th century sex workers pubic hair was often shaven because of lice. This was not considered to be a good look, so they used "merkin", which is like a fake beard looking fake pubic hair to be more beautiful.

These days there's less unified beauty culture for whole regions. Beauty standards are rather been dispersed around the world to ton of subcultures, each having their own version of what "beauty" is.
