This was practically a robbery; I wouldn't have given it either. The attitude of the guy who shot him seems more like that of a drug addict. I just didn't understand one thing: the title says it was in an online casino, so it seems to me that this person was with him, and if so, it was an acquaintance. That's why I gamble at home alone and don't tell anyone when I win.

Btw, about 20-30 years ago, in my country when someone continuingly and persistently ask to share winnings or money, does that for a good period of time and it seems that he will never stop, usually that ends with robbery. That act of begging is a prelude for robbery. It was done to make person lose balance, make him less caution and sometimes to lead him to deserted place or make a sucker punch, then rob.

It is annoying when a friend doesn't empathize with you or compensate your lose by giving you some money to reduce your lose but when you win the same person will feel entitled to a share of it even though they don't feel entitled to support you when you lose. It is ok to celebrate with your friends after a big win, they should accept whatever you decide to share with them because you alone risked your money to gamble before you won so nobody should be entitled to dictate what you must give to them.

To avoid the drama of friends and loved ones feeling entitled to your gambling wins I believe that it is better to keep your gambling wins to yourself to avoid unnecessary disturbances about giving them a share from your win. What people don't know doesn't tempt them or worry them so if you don't want any issues it is better to gamble privately.

Actually both sides could really happen whether that someone would be robbed or someone that would make something into that person who do persistently asking. Each person is different when it comes to perspective and approach unto things and also having that different level when it comes to patience on which there are those who can held of too long and able to tolerate it out but there are ones who are short tempered and ending up with these kind of incidents and this is one of the example posted on OP on having that gunshot into someone who do keeps on asking for some small part of winning. In general sense is that they arent obliged to give out some money into those people whose around him even he won up a particular amount. If you are someone that likes to asks then if you do approach and been rejected once then dont do it again or stop it completely and thats already a sign that you wont get anything something from him.

That is the real definition of entitlement, why feel so entitled to someone's money, that is his winning,if he lost trust me ,that entitled guy wouldn't have given him back his money that was lost, but on the other hand he went extreme to have shot him on the arms ,but people should try to mind their business and stay off people's achievement,I know how much I have lost only this year ,and luckily I won some good amount ,and someone want a share of it ,I really can't say what i will do ,maybe people should learn how to keep their winning private.

Over 8$? I wonder how low people can get for money.

Still there is a possibility that the persons have helped each other in the past and hence the same type of help-seeking behavior is there in this incident as well but it turned South before one could act properly.

Facing jail time is a proper punishment for these type of attempted homicides. Places like the developing countries, people need to keep their winnings knowledge away from their near ones or face unwanted problems like these.

To an extent the gambler will be blamed for revealing such information to his friend, but it could be that this guys are close friends and most of us here have this very friend that they are very free with to share some information with especially if both shares the same interest on a particular thing maybe the friend could also have interest in gambling but did not gamble then but the friend gambled, and won a reasonable amount of money, and if the gambler refuses to share his wins no offense it's his money if he had lost that money in gambling this his friend would have tease him for the loss, as a friend he was supposed to celebrate with him rather than feeling entitled.

I don't know if there is a kind of level of intimacy between two of them since they are neighbors, but despite that, it's still don't warrant for such behavior to always persist by disturbing the other person for a share on what he is not entitled to, I want to believe giving is by our wish and not by Force, he would have pleaded and also let go then continuous persistence which sounds more of being a serious destruction to the winner, you can't force people to go against their wish.

The rate at which some gamblers feel entitled to your wins can be very annoying. I interpret the conduct of the wounded gambler on the streets as bully since he is always taking his belongings forcefully and without permission simply because he refused to share the winning. There might be other little details that led to the fight, but the pestering someone and forcing them to share their wins is unnecessarily and very disturbing.

The story left me in a state of bewilderment, to imagine how an adult is desperate to get a share of a little win of $8. I know fully well that the Philippines is a developing country and their currency doesnt have much value. But regardless of the poverty in the Philippines, it isn't enough reason to confiscate people's property without their consent. The gambler couldn't take it anymore. Which led to why he shot the other gambler. I understand the pain he had to endure when the guy he shot had a sense of entitlement over his possessions. The incident wouldn't have come to this extent if both parties controlled their emotions.

The gambler may think that the man is weak and thinks that it is possible to share something if he wants to. You should remember, gamblers can indulge in anything if they don't have money. Even collecting money unfairly by force, which is known to be the case. however, although the amount of money was small, it was valuable to them. But showing right to other people's money is completely stupid and immoral. But a close friend is a different matter.

Most members will have the same answer because the gambler became mentally ill due to excessive annoyance and because of this he did not hesitate to shoot himself because he could not control his anger. In the mentioned incident, the amount of money he demanded from only $8 was only $0.81 which is very insignificant and for that he has been constantly annoyed.

If a person is constantly scolded for this small matter or is constantly demanded a small amount of dollars from him, he is mentally tortured and when mentally tortured, he does not hesitate before doing any kind of work, just like a gambler did not hesitate to shoot his neighbor. This incident has taken a big shape around a trivial incident which was not at all desirable.

This story is crazy, a guy from Cebu(a city in the Philippines) was beaten and shot in the arm by a gambler after he repeatedly asked him to share some of his wins with him. So, according to the article, a gambler won around 500 pesos($8) a week ago before the incident happened, and the guy who got shot asked the gambler to share some of the winnings with him(he was asking for 50 pesos, which is $0.81), but the guy refused, since then he kept pestering the gambler to share some of his winnings whenever they see each other, the guy asking for some of the winnings from the gambler would get angry and take some of the gambler's cigarrete without permission if the gambler refuse to share some of the winnings. Eventually, the issue escalated to a fist fight, and the gambler pulled out a gun and shot the guy on his arm. The guy was rushed to the hospital and received treatment, and the gambler was arrested and is being charged with frustrated homicide.

Damn it. I really hate people who ask for money from a gambler’s winnings, i mean, what have they contributed that makes them feel entitled to ask for that money, no matter how little or how much.

This doesn’t just happen out of the blue, pent up frustration and anger over a long period of time can drive someone to do anything, even the worst possible thing. In this case, he definitely wouldn’t have done something that reckless unless he was extremely angry. I suspect he must have warned that person many times, but the person didn't listen and kept bothering him. In my opinion, even though his method was wrong, that person deserved it.

Btw, about 20-30 years ago, in my country when someone continuingly and persistently ask to share winnings or money, does that for a good period of time and it seems that he will never stop, usually that ends with robbery. That act of begging is a prelude for robbery. It was done to make person lose balance, make him less caution and sometimes to lead him to deserted place or make a sucker punch, then rob.
that’s why sharing your wins in the first place is not the best. Your wins are your wins and it should remain between you especially when you have no plans to share with the next person. Same applies to food, any food you do not have the plans of sharing with another person, do not bring it out for them to see because it is of no use and that is the beginning of envy for most people. You can’t tell what’s on their minds, you can only talk about yours and that’s why a mother who is vast in life experiences will tell her child not to trust anybody else including herself until they do something that is strong enough to win that trust before you should join any strong ties with the person.

This was practically a robbery; I wouldn't have given it either. The attitude of the guy who shot him seems more like that of a drug addict. I just didn't understand one thing: the title says it was in an online casino, so it seems to me that this person was with him, and if so, it was an acquaintance.
We all have different views on this matter, especially on how to judge the guy who shot the friend who was physically assaulting him; it could be said that the guy was scared for his life and tried to defend himself, but the other question that will come up is why he was moving around with a gun.

Quote
That's why I gamble at home alone and don't tell anyone when I win.

That's the idea surrounding online gambling as far as I'm concerned, but some people still have loud mouths, and even if they gamble privately, they will still let those they consider friends know about it, and when winning comes, they still announce it, which attracts attention to them.

Okay this is funny Grin or should I say both party involved are retards .

The beggar got more than $0.8  he asked for which is a treatment which eventually  cost way more than the whole bet itself and a pain that last months.
While the frustrated fellow got a charge which is more than just overlooking $0.8 since someone won't stop frustrating him.  I mean which is better, sacrificing  0.8 and left with $9.2 or sleeping in a jail for years or the one on bail which cost way more .

What were they thinking?

If I can understand you clearly the cause of the fight is just $8 win? And the person that got shot requested for just $0.81? That’s really serious because I don’t think that amount should even cause a fight. Am I the only one thats thinking that the momey is just too small, how are you going to shot someone just because of $0.81, thats really a terrible thing to do.

I don’t even think anyone should be forced to share their gambling win, if you request some money from the winner, and the person ignored you, then you should forget about it, you are not suppose to force anyone to give you money, it’s a terrible behavior. Also the gambler should be punished also, just because of a case like this, you are not suppose to shot anyone, someone like this is not suppose to even be in possession of a gun.

If you are going to charge someone, make sure to do this in a friendly way, and in case they refuse to pay the debt, the only alternative you have is to use the justice system in your favour, what I think to be a joke, considering the amount of money we are talking about... The man should have just forget the story and move ahead, aware that he wasn't going to be paid, at same time he should be aware that someone who doesn't honor a debt of 8$ isn't worthy to make a deal anytime again in the future. That conclusion should be enough, without any injuries and issues beyond.

Whatever the case, no one has the right to demand a share of the winnings from someone who has just won, let alone force them to share it. Essentially, all winnings from a gambler's gambling are their personal property, unless the initial stake was funded by someone else. However, even then, a verbal or written agreement must be established before playing to avoid misunderstandings. So, I think the beggar shouldn't have asked in that way, no one would like it if it seemed like coercion.

That's it, no one deserves to be treated in such a manner all because they refused sharing their gambling winning with someone. Is not making any sense and I hope relevant authorities are looking into that matter because if no legal actions is being taken against this guy's responsible for such a barbaric act, other people's will be thinking they can easily get away with it if they also try the same thing.  However, at this point players need to be very careful with their gambling activities, let every winnings remains low key so that things like this can be avoided.
