What happened:: I run the BPTrades escrow service on the forum and I've helped many users complete trades, someone messaged me today on Telegram and told me that he had been scammed out of 100 USDT. The scammer promised a 40% daily return through trading/betting.

The thing is that the accused scammer had used my escrow service before and those transactions were completed successfully. He may have used escrow for those initial transactions to gain trust before asking for a direct payment. After the victim trusted him, he sent the money directly instead of using our escrow service.

These are the wallet addresses he used in two previous transactions through my escrow service, totaling 694.5 USDT.

Note: They look like Binance and KuCoin deposit addresses.

[1] Binance Hot Wallet 11
Address: TJqwA7SoZnERE4zW5uDEiPkbz4B66h9TFj

TXID: https://tronscan.org/transaction/ed6369e0572982cfcd34c9a4f59e9c31fba757c20c136a54f7f97dcb84a941db/overview (504 USDT)

[2] KuCoin Wallet 4
Address: TUpHuDkiCCmwaTZBHZvQdwWzGNm5t8J2b9

TXID: https://tronscan.org/transaction/603fee56b59300e37a41821865f9e2809626d0fa4057968573a7e5693879aaeb/overview (190.5 USDT)

This was his Telegram username: @nafrik86.

Scammers Profile Link: N/A

Amount Scammed: 100 USDT
Payment Method: USDT on TRON
Proof of Payment: https://tronscan.org/transaction/d7ff6f1f09d70c4dc62783029a2e33d25af03a5c015f1b921ca3c686a17258c3/overview

PM/Chat Logs: Unfortunately, the victim said they deleted the chat before the scammer blocked them..

Additional Notes: If anyone recognizes this Telegram username or knows if it's linked to a Bitcointalk account, please share any information.

I advised the victim to contact the exchange's support team. They might be able to freeze the stolen funds, but the chances are probably very low.

For reference, this is the official BPTrades thread on Bitcointalk:

that what greed does to a man (or a wewom) on the inetenet, you get scammed.

what did he expect from a stranger on telegram promising him 40% profit daily?
i feel sorry for him, but he should have known better.

btw, you left the victim telegram username visible, and since you blurred his name and profile pic, i assume you might want to edit that out.

No matter how stories like this come out in this forum and other forums even on social media platforms, people who are still reading those stories will still fall victim of things like this all because of greediness.
Any promise that is too good to be true should be avoided, especially when it is coming from someone online. I really don’t know why he believes that he was going to be getting 40% daily return through trading/betting, a lot of people have been scammed through this kind of promise.

I feel very bad for him and I know how painful being scammed can be. People should learn and avoid promise that is too good to be true.

That is quite unfortunate that he had to trust a stranger just like that. Maybe the lost 100 USDT should act as a one time tuition fee for a lesson learned. Next time any deal with untrusted individuals should involve escrow service.

You're right, he was lured by the promise of huge, unrealistic profits in a very short period of time. It was an unbelievable offer, but maybe because he had done a few successful deals through the escrow service, started trusting him and believed he was trustworthy.

Unfortunately, I even contacted the person who lured him with those promised returns, but he refused to refund any of the victim's money.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll update the OP and remove the victim's Telegram username as well.

I hope he doesn't make the same mistake again. I advised him not to hesitate to use our escrow service in the future and to avoid repeating this mistake.

If that really is the same scammer, it's ironic that if people had followed the advice he posted six years ago, they probably wouldn't have fallen for his scam.  Grin

To get the trust of his potential victims, he should act as someone who cares. Albon's title is correct: built trust, then stole. I will not trust a guy who obviously baits your greed and does not have a reputation here in Bitcointalk.
It's good that he did not level up, like giving you 40% profit first, then asking you to triple the money so he can triple your profit, then run away Cheesy

Yes, he could have done that, or even paid him at first to earn his trust and get him to invest more. A lot of scam sites do this, they pay you at first to make you believe they're legit, then run away with your money or simply block your account.

Unfortunately, sending money on Telegram also requires caution. A scammer can delete all their messages, and you can't get the chat back to prove what happened.

That's why we always suggest using our escrow service. It helps prevent scams like this, but unfortunately, some people look for the easy way and make rushed decisions and regret it later.

It's not the first kind of donation/loan made in good faith.
trust or not trust, rush or not rush Wink any kind of similar promise could be seen just as "pure garbage".

thats not matter of "it is still possible" achieve a return like this, but it is totally non sense finding someone that provide such huge return or offers such a kind of "professional service". In this case @albon an user that fall into a similar scam would never pay attention to any suggestion...

As a suggestion, include the user ID as well for future similar reports. Its is: 7231981387
Telegram doesn't limit users from changing their usernames, only the ID, which makes it unique and easy to track scammers, even if they change their name millions of times.

I can still see it on my Telegram on PC

Use a bot to get a user ID, like @usinfobot or something else. If I'm not mistaken, you can use the inspect element if you're using Telegram Web.
